that is the beauty of Michael Jackson. Two top 5 and neither person had the same song on them. And both top 5s have amazing songs on them. Another person could make another top 5 without either of our songs on them and it would be hard to argue with him.
Great song...Great sound.....(I always wished he simply accepted his look and let it grow with him as he aged instead of being set on changing his look into his minds view of what he wanted to be) [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF0o-W5uu8o"]YouTube - Michael Jackson - She's Out Of My Life[/ame] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She's_out_of_My_Life
I thought MJ was at his best with ballads bdh. This was one of my very, very favorite songs of his. It's truly beautiful. Also, sorry, being a girl, love Ben and You are not Alone and, of course, all the Jackson 5 songs. He will be missed greatly for his musical prowess.
YouTube - Michael Jackson - You Are Not Alone How can anyone listen to this and not choke up. He had such a unique incredible voice.
I've been watching MTV Jams all day... non stop Michael Jackson music videos and performances. THE KING LIVES FOREVER.
This is my favorite M.J. performance... no extra props or anything, he just came out and killed it. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VASYhabHkM&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube - Michael Jackson - Billie Jean (1983) [Motown 25 Live][/ame]
People ask, what makes MJ different from other pop stars. The answer is very easy. His voice is not manufactured. There is no need for a synthesizer or any other artificial garbage to make him sound "good." He had natural talent that talentless hacks like Kanye West would DREAM of having. Today everyone sounds like everyone.
Nabo, thanks for starting this thread. It's somewhat cathartic for me to be able to come in and see the positive vibes folks are giving off about MJ. I'm a Viking now, but growing up MJ was one of my heroes, and I can remember being a teenager when the "Scream" video premiered, and I was just blown away by it. Both Mrs. VO and I were surprised last night to find ourselves reminiscing about our favorite MJ tunes, and we both feel bad for both Micheal as well as his family. The guy was a huge introvert, and lived out his life under intense scrutiny - probably more so than any other celebrity in history. The man was talented, and he will be missed.
Showing the good things he did in life as opposed to all the negative that is brought up (hence in memory of his good deeds)...is what alen meant.
His death really got to me more than I thought it would. I was a huge fan in high school, but then I got into hard rock and it tapered away. However it was always inside me.
I Figured this was as good a place as any to post this. http://www.popeater.com/music/artic...lisa-marie-presley-blogs-about-michael/545833
I've got a question for everyone....If you could go back in time and stop Joe Jackson from doing what he did to MJ do you do it? keep in mind that it means MJ grow up having a normal life, job, family and everything we know today goes away. It pains me to say it but I would have to let history repeat itself.
I think that the creative genius would need an outlet eventually, but without the early exposure, who knows? Interesting question though.
Would make an interesting episode of that old show Quantum Leap. But then again, had the family stayed in economically depressed Gary, Indiana, what opportunities would be for the Jackson family(9 kids!) to succeed? The steel factory where Joe Jackson worked closed(along with most of the steel industry in what is known as the Rust Belt), and in the 70s and 80s Gary was a tough place to grow up. The Jacksons wouldve been stuck working at fast food places, one of them couldve wound up selling drugs, who knows the possibilities. There just wasnt many options for black people in the 70s especially in depressed areas like Gary. And still today, Gary has changed much. Not to mention having 9 kids on an average salary surely wouldve been a rough experience for the parents had the kids never entered show biz. If you look at the rest of the family, none of them really have many problems(that we know about). La Toya had a rough patch I believe, but thats really it. Micheal didnt until he reached his peak of fame and the impending decline thereafter. Even so, the failure on his part to mature and deal with his demons in a responsible way may have played a part in his death. Or maybe his lupus resurfaced and he needed medication to ease his pain but maybe he over did it. We dont know for sure. I believe Michael was a good person at heart, but he did chose this life, he couldve walked away whenever he wanted to. I dont feel all that sorry for him, aside from those allegations with kids. But he couldve chose to deal with his problems, he couldve chose differently. But its too late now, and we can say he is at peace, finally.
Yes. But a pertinent question for our lives as they exist is: are we helping at all to stop the same things from happening to thousands of kids every day right now? Do we know a family in which the children are physically abused to some degree? Do we do anything about it - even if they're friends, even if it means losing their friendship?
We've been watching videos on and off all weekend on VH1. Pop has never been my thing but MJ was really on a whole different level. No matter what music you prefer you really can't deny his talent or the impact his music had on our society and culture. What's really a shame is there are a good number of people who can't look past the personal problems the guy has had the past few years.
really REALLY good collage of MJ dancing set to "Day and Night" (which has no video) had to take a ton of work to make all the clips in rythm with the song well done imo. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzlRrZPxdaI&feature=related"]YouTube - Michael Jackson Working Day And Night [RIP][/ame]
LOL...his detractors would use this to say "he lacked creativity and talent" and simply did the same thing over and over..hahahaaha.... cool video and job indeed.
I love people who make that argument. Did the same thing over and over? Going from a up beat song like Billie Jean to a slow jam like Rock With You to an absolutely beautiful ballad like You Are Not Alone? How the hell are they the same? I'll buy the idea that he was weird. But I will never buy ANYONE who questions his talent and ability. EVER.
