Am I wrong on this, but wasn't the RROD mainly an issue with 360s that were bought a year ago or later? I thought they fixed the issue, but maybe I am wrong.
It's better, but still around. The new chips in the elites run cooler than the older ones did. But regardless, the 360 just runs really hot. If you've ever felt the back of the system after 20 minutes of play its not hard to fathom why it overheats so easily. So even an elites gonna fry depending on usage.
My 360 that just got RROD, was an elite. I probably play it 1-2 times a week for no more than an hour, hour and half (one game of madden usually). Turned it on about 5 am (plenty cool) and it lasted hardly a minute. Keep it in the open to allow proper air circulation. Did everything everyone says to do, still broke.
It says it not under warranty but it dusted charge me. Looks like I will be giving my PS3 ALL the love for a few weeks.
I just wanted to let everyone know that there is hope even if your 360 red rings out of the 3 year window. My box red ringed about 2 weeks ago. I purchased this little kit from Amazon. My console is running like champ now. This was a very easy process. Here is the exact kit.
