It doesn't seem logical that an innocent man would ever cough up that much money if he thought he would be found not guilty at trial. In my view there was a reason to doubt the outcome and that is the only reason that money would be paid.

Maybe it was a payoff and he was guilty - which as others said makes the parents scum as well.

Maybe his handlers gave him just messed up advice to avoid the media circus and damage that the trial would do to him.

    Who knows.

Everybody that's willing to debate the facts that none of us know has blinders on to some degree and will maintain that bias as long as there is someone to argue with.

The only fact I really know is that he sold a ****load of records.

That does not mean I have to like him, admire him, like his music (which I really did enjoy the music he made in the 80's) or be sad that he's dead. Some people have a hard time acknowledging that not everybody holds him as some sort of demi-god that in death is now without sin.

Those "oh by the way" friends that are going to come out and honor him now that he's dead are **** stains in any case. Stick to your position you had in his life in his death is all I'm sayin'.

Think about it this way, if it went to trial he was going to plead not guilty, meaning the kid would in all likelihood have to testify, and be cross examined by the defense. If you were a parent would you want to put your kid through that? Or would you think about taking the 20 million or whatever and know you have all the cash you need to get that child the professional help he needed along with a college education and just about anything else he wanted for the rest of his life?

If you go through with the prosecution and your kid testifies then outside of the event its self he is marked for the rest of his life as "The Jackson Kid". Just saying its not quite as cut and dried as "take the money and shut up".

I know a situation where a child was raped and going into the trial that's how it would have been. If a plea deal hadn't been worked out then a 4 year old would have needed to testify for the trial to go forward.... It would have happened in a different room and the video piped to the main chamber..... Still, with all that little girl had already been through it would have been an absolute nightmare.

i know i'm just adding fuel to the fire, but i'm overall saddened by what this thread has turned into. I can't understand how some people seem to be happy even that MJ has died, feeling like they've just gotten their vigilante justice or something. I don't approve of child molesters at all, but MJ was never found guilty and never convicted of such a thing. Everyone is entitled to their opinion (like when OJ dies there will be plenty of people rejoicing.. but then again, that was a completely different situation)

this man is a pop legend. are people going to rejoice if Kobe Bryant bites it because of the allegations that he raped a woman? Are people going to rejoice if Ray Lewis gets murdered because he 'killed a man'? Heck, even if Vick was found dead in a few years, I can't see people realistically saying "good! that's what he deserves that scumbag". and vick was found GUILTY.

regardless of how one feels about MJ's allegations, show the man some respect, at least for the day.

Thriller sold 800 million copies nothing else is even close for those of you trying to diminish his talent its laughable....he was the king of pop and his talent will be missed....I always kind of considered myself "not a fan" but strangely I feel like its ok to listen to his music again...and I realise as Im flipping through 20 or so videos on U tube I know almost every word to almost every song.

    RIP Michael King Of Pop.

I disagree.....HD is right. You dont come in a thread dedicated to the memory of a person and disrespect him and his fans in the thread, it shows no class.

Paying them to leave him alone is not a confession. If he wasn't such a weirdo people wouldn't jump to conclusions about his guilt so easily. Businesses settle things out of court all the time, even if they weren't necessarily at fault.

I think he was probably innocent because I could never believe that not just one but multiple sets of parents would let a man get away with molesting their children for money. I cannot believe that is possible.

I thought this was a thread which conveyed various reports that MJ had died / coma / hospitalized. I didn't see a thread dedicated to his memory, but negative responses to MJ are part of his legacy.

If you want an "In Memoriam" thread, why don't you start one? I'm sure people will honor the theme of that thread and stay out if they have nothing good to say.

This thread, for all of the honorable sentiments it contains, is filled to the brim with venom that does not belong in a context of mourning. It should be deleted.

I was always more of a Prince fan, but respected how MJ took over the world with his music. For three decades he ruled the airwaves. The last 10 - 15 years saw another side of him. A frightening and sometimes toxic side. People will always have their own opinion of his personal and public life. When the first story broke about his "behavior" with little boys, I didn't know what to believe. I remember saying to friends, that if true, it will surface again. Sadly it did a couple more times. Makes me believe he was guilty.

That aside, his music and dancing preceded this and remains (arguably) what he will be remembered for first.

In reflection he was never convicted of anything that people on this thread have slandered him with, yourself included, so taking your own advice would be solid at this point.

It's just as hard for me to believe a man would not defend his honor till his dying breath against such henious charges. Even more so when he had the funds to do so.

I agree with the previous poster that said, this isn't a memorial thread. This was a breaking news thread.

With the breaking news aspect of it, its perfectly fine and acceptable to post reactions to his death, positive & negative. This is a forum after all.

this is true. nobody is actually 100% sure he was a child molester, but i am 100% sure the guy had talent, i think i'll focus on that.

lets not forget, 3 kids lost a father today. if the media doesn't screw their heads up with all the negative bashing, i'll be surprised. i'd hate to have something negative on the tv or newspaper about my father when he died. there were a few things, but i got over it , finally.

The real Michael Jackson died when his head caught on fire during that concert. Since then, its been one of his brothers impersonating him. Which is why he had all those surgeries.

I didnt like what Michael became but I recognized his talent.
Hopefully now he's found some peace.

the difference is that we knew Farrah didnt have much time left, Michael's death was more sudden, it is sad that her death is being overshadowed.

Elvis married a 14 year old girl, so if you're going to call Michael a pedo...

thats a very good point Pagan
