The Dolphins -- who were scheduled to work out Michigan quarterback Chad Henne on Tuesday, have inquired about scheduling a private session with Louisville's Brian Brohm, who also could be available at pick No. 32.

Do you think we'll spend yet another 2nd round pick on a QB? What would that be, 3?

Better than spending the first overall I suppose.

Brohm will be better than Ryan, if we can get him in the second I would be okay with it.

I'm just curious because I've only watched each of them play a handful of times... How does Brohm compare to Ryan in terms of arm strength, accuracy, throwing on the run, reading a defense, etc?

Better, I know some will disagree. Brohm played in a more wide open offense, but his numbers are better.

The one thing I don't like about Brohm is the two times he played Rutgers he was under pressure all game and really struggled.

But I like him better than Ryan (Sorry Adam)

IMO You cant have to many good QBs.....better chance of ONE OF THEM working out for the best.....then if we have 2 good QB's....trade Em' for picks :)

Ryan has a stronger arm and better size. Brohm read a defense better. Brohm has good mobility but Ryan has deceptively good ability there, but I think outside teh pocket I like Brohm. accuracy both are good. My take

agree, I'd definitely like to get another QB early in this draft. I don't think McCown is the long term answer and I'm sure Beck knows that too. He could use some real competition.

I would really hate to see us burn another early round pick on a QB... we've given up too many in the past. I say we need to give Beck a serious chance at this job, this rebuilding project is going to take some time, so if he doesnt pan out, theres always next year to draft one again... But lets not forget we already have two guys here, both young, and both with some potential.

i am not a draft guru- but hopefully one of you knowledgable people can help

how is the qb class of 09?

Personally i would like to give beck a year while spending this draft on defense and oline, but if this class looks much better than next years it may be better not to wait.

I don't see Brohm falling to us. If he did, I think we would be nuts not to take him, assuming of course the first pick isn't Matt Ryan.

Brohm at 2A is more prudent than Ryan at #1.. but from what I'm reading, Flacco, if available at 2B (big "if") has the most upside and bang-for-the-bucks.

Easy on my boy there Mr., don't wanna have to get nasty 'round these parts . . .

Personally I only agree with taking a QB that high if we take Jake or trade down & take a really solid LT. Doesn't matter who you put back there, Beck, McCown, or ??, if you can't protect them and give them a running game, the QB is going to fail, and so are we.

I believe it's doubtful we are positioned for taking a QB that eary even if the option is available.

Remember we only have 7 offensive linemen on our roster currently of which only 3 (Carey, Satale, Smiley) are of starter quality, and another who may be a starter or who may simply be depth (Mormino) and 1 only one other who may or may not make the roster? (Derililek sp?). That's a gapping hole for starters quality much less depth on the OL and I think it's by design.

In the FA period we could have easily targeted a stop gap measure given our available cap space, or at least shown some more interest in a interim offensive lineman, but we did not seem to show much interest at all, from an outside perspective of course. With the number of takles avialable in this draft, I truly beleive this is by design. But given our current cicumstance, we do need at least 1 probably 2 starters for the OL ready to go day 1 from the draft, are we going to get those in rounds 3-7? A stretch IMO.

I don't pretend to know who may be available when, but as others have posted previously we will draft 3 OL this draft...we simply have to. We need to put the horse before the cart so to speak.

No you never have to many well thought of QB's, but it doesn't do any good if they get killed. We just are not in a position to take a QB in the earliest rounds IMO.

Can't agree with that. The reason Brohm had better numbers like YPA was because his receivers had excellent run-after-catch ability. Brohm hardly threw deep due to the passing scheme and his pop-gun arm. Ryan threw deep but his receivers weren't up to snuff, and he got a lot of INTs as a result.

Brohm's offensive line played much better than Ryan's in 2007. I don't like Brohm's delivery either; he has too many passes batted down. Worst of all, he's not tough or quick in his decision making in the face of pressure. Yes, he's smart and can dissect a defense when given time, but I fear he'll shatter like glass when roughed up.

We could very well take a qb in this draft, but it's not going to be in the first three rounds. Kevin O'Connell, Matt Flynn, Paul Smith in that 5th or 6th round area sounds logical. That's a better backup plan than waiting until next year's group IMO.

I really believe that Brohm, Ryan, and Flaccco will be gone before we are called at #32. Just because of the hipe and the position. I also think Brohm is more pro ready than Ryan but that's just me. I also believe that we will take a QB somewhere in this draft but I have no idea where or who. Would love to see us take Johnson or say Smith in the later rounds.
I also read where; some believe that the guys in the 20-60 picks were not much lower than the top 20 and thats where the real value was in this years draft. If true I could see us trade down from #32 and pick up extra picks in that range. Plus if the JT trade is true and we get a second from that we could be looking at 4 to 5 picks in that round. It would then be a no brainer to pich up Henne in that round, in my mind.

It seems like we are showing an awful lot of interest in quarterbacks for it to just be a ruse. I think Henne may be available with our later second, but Brohm or Flacco may have to be taken at #32 if we want them. I'm a big fan of John Beck, but that is only because he is a Dolphin. Ideally we won't take a QB on the first day and Beck will work out, but if we do, then may the best man win.
