I'm a Pat White fan, to me his limit is what the Offensive Coordinator can come up with, that said, these OTA reports are troubling.

    He has hit:

    *the crossbar on the upright
*Tuna's golf cart on the backside of the endzone
*over a fence that 'Nando said he has never seen anyone throw the ball over

I "know' HC Sporano is still saying P White "completed 67% of his passes in college", which is a great number along with the number of starts he made (at least 40) is supposed to be the prelude to QB success in the NFL.

That is, until the Spread offense came into vogue in College, John Beck completed 64% of his passes and started 2 and half seasons, and he is now peddling his wares with Cam Cameron up in Baltimore.

    So what's Pat White's issue?

I didn't vote... I'm reserving judgement until I see him play in the preseason.

I'm under the impression that those well publicized misses were actually throwaways pursuant to Coaches' direction not to turn it over inside the 20s.

I think with most any young QB its adjusting to the speed of the game. They rush everything and end up scattershot. Even when they're not under a pass rush they're still rushing.

Also when you come out of a spread you have the additional adjustment of coming from under center. You can't pass until you reach your correct depth and you have to learn to read the D while backing up. It doesn't seem that difficult, but its just something else that takes time and you end up having to rush even more.

being a Mountaineer fan Pat has always had accuracy issues and he mostly misses high.i'm telling you guys his comp.% is a little inflated due to an overabundance of bubble screens. Pat is a winner though and he'll get better man the guy is learning to play Qb at a different level now. if he is inaccurate now wait til the pads come on. this is a guy that going to require alot of patience.

Accuracy issues were one of the knocks on him coming out, I'm not surprised to read that they didn't magically disappear just because we drafted him. :wink2:

Give the kid a break!! His head is just probably swimming being in the NFL, getting adjusted to life in the big league and learning a new offense/team.

Well, to me the misses are soo cartoonish that I cannot help but wonder if White is either showing off, or being told to "really throw it away".

I voted "Overload, too much to fast", but I also feel that "Mechanics, like Romo, White is rebuilding his throwing motion " comes into play also.

There is a video over on aquavision showing Penny & Pat trowing the ball over and over. Penny, has a nice follow through, bringing his back leg all the way around. You can see Pat, seems to abruptly cut his follow through in half by bringing his back leg down immediately in front of his pivot leg.

I don't think it's really anything worth getting worked up about.

He's not only learning a new offense, but he'd never played in a pro style offense, or taken snaps from under center. Not only that, but given the reports we've seen so far, he's been doing so while seemingly discouraged from tucking the ball and running with it.

I actually agree with that. Im not convinced he can be a full-time QB. At least we know hes versatile should he not play well at QB.

    Slightly left of center
If he is throwing it away on purpose, and bouncing it off of the tunas golf cart, he certainly has the balls to play pro football. :pointlol:

probably just john beck syndrome. small guy playing against big and mean guys gets scared and rattled. probably just pushing right now. lets wait and see if he settles down. he had decent accuracy in college and if he relaxes his accuracy will be fine

The balls that hit the cart and posts were balls that were thrown away, sparano confirmed that somewhat in a presser.

I hope we have'nt lost sight of what should be expected from Pat white..His position for this team is at wcqbx...he is a weapon in this hybrid offense that needs to be used correctly.

IMO, some {minority i hope} people are losing sight of this and judging him on the ability to be a proset qb, Yes i agree, he needs to learn the position of qb first, however imo, not because thats where we envision him, but because of the importace of when he takes the field, the defense at least has to know that he his versed and competant in the proset for the deception of the wildcat to be effective.

If he ever does become a starter in the future, it will be because of injury to henne, and when he does come out to lead the offense i suspect you will see the hybrid be reversed in ratio, and a heavy installment of new wildcat plays during the week... so, for the future, and in case of injury,Instead of 80/20 proset/hybrid with henne/white, it might turn into a 50/50 hybrid with just white at the helm..or you bring in a vet and go back to the 80/20 standard hybrid.

Lets not forget hes our wildcat QB, Henne is our future Proset QB. theres no question in my mind about both of those things.Who cares if he overthrowin some receivers out of the proset..The Cat has got more on his plate then most rookie qb's..He's got 2 offenses to learn.

Hopefully on one of those "throwaway passes past the endzone," he pulls a Paul Crewe except hits Pat Patriot...

I mean, I want to hit him right now. Just look at him!

Indeed, no one has broken out the "B" word, and no one should, with poll questions such as "smoke screen" I hope no one is taking this too seriously.

Hitting the Patriot Mascot would be a "Nuke LaLoosh" moment..

Overload. He's a rookie getting his first taste of NFL speed, new offense, give the poor kid a chance for the game to slow down for him, and some time to learn the playbook. I mean really learn it to the point it becomes automatic.

He is a project at this stage IMO.I dont think he will contribute much this year other than as a decoy and some basic wildcat plays .:wink2:

BTW thats what we want everyone to think .There has been a lot of secrecy involved with the wildcat so far this year.Surprise is a big part of it.

Sparano mentioned that in red zone situations he has been coached to throw the ball well out of reach to avoid turnovers. Nothing to see here, move along...

Penny's issues seem to have disappeared in the eyes of a few folks, we tend to give our own players a clean slate when they come to Miami, ignoring flaws that we had previously pointed out. Expectations and optimism run very high this time of year, some have speculated that White is going to be ROY. I try to be a realist, I don't mind pointing out our player's flaws and being brutally honest with my opinions about them or the team's potential.

Or the short answer: It was tongue in cheek :wink2:
