hands down, Sparano would have won this IF we could have voted for the "Trifecta," as Parcells and Ireland deserve as much credit for the turnaround as Sparano does. Rather, voting for Ronnie is a completely different mindset. If you're voting for Ronnie, you're voting for the Past, Current and Future of the team. You acknowledge that the past is important. That you learn from it and get better. Without a struggle in the past, there is no improvement. The Ronnie detractors (not all Tony supporters) bring up Ronnie's past in only a negative light. They bring up the high draft pick, the "injury history," has he ever carried the load questions... yet they don't acknowledge his comeback from 2008 to 2009 and that he has gotten progressively better each season (the TGM was all over Ginn's improvement ironically enough). Sparano gets ALL the credit for the team's one year turnaround. Yet I ask one question, if the Phins don't make the playoffs this year, who would be deserving of Survivor 2010? I guarantee they won't say Sparano.
Well put but.... Ronnie Brown [36]- Tony Sparano [414]+ Ronnie was a factor last year but if it wasn't for the Coach and coaching staff making Ronnie a household name with the wildcat, this place would be seeing threads like "is it time to cut Ronnie he can't get to a 1,000yards a season" threads. Don't get me wrong I'm not bashing Ronnie or you guys for picking him - it is just a game after all! Hey we even had a "ronnies fat" thread!
Yeah, I'm proud for Ronnie. Don't get into thinking a vote for Tony is a "Ronnie Hater". If it weren't for Tony OBVIOUSLY deserving the survivor title, Ronnie would be 1st on my list ahead of Porter and Pennington - in that order. But you'd have to be an idiot to not know that Tony is more responsible for the historic turnaround than Ronnie.
the coach is always going to have more responsiblity than any player on any team, a player is only on 1 side of the ball and only involved so much, the coach is involved in all aspects of the team... thats why i dont think the coaching staff should be in this because its an unfair comparison... the coach should just win every year then and whats the point of doing it? the coach will have more responsiblity for a teams victories whether it was 2 wins or 11 wins
Next year maybe a suggestion to only allow players then. But this year, he's in it, and according to the rules: You can choose any reason you want to vote for or against a player. Skill, likability, value, etc. Until some voters started trying to influence others, logic was not a part of the game... This has nothing to do with fav player, who's more responsible for their season last year, future, or whatever. Just vote! (Unless you're voting for Ronnie, then just give up.... )
oooooh, now i get it, Sparano voters dont understand logic! now it all makes sense Ronnie Brown [38]+ Tony Sparano [412]-
Leave sense out of this! I try to as much as possible. Don't make me break out the big gun secret weapon now....
again I ask: if the Phins don't make the playoffs this year, who would be deserving of Survivor 2010? I guarantee they won't say Sparano.
Ronnie Brown [36]- Ronnie represents one facet of the team. Tony Sparano [414]+ Tony represents the whole damn thing...
I'll worry about next year when it happens. It has no real bearing on today, especially since this is a popularity contest, not something performance based in any way.
Ronnie Brown [36] - Tony Sparano [414] + Conversely, if we DO get in to the playoffs next year, who do you think will be more responsible? Ronnie, or Tony? Ronnie is my favorite player, but Tony is responsible for the entire team.
Tony is great, but he wasn't the one carrying the rock in the fourth quarter vs the Jets with the game on the line. At that stage of the game, of the season, with everything on the line, one man took his team on his shoulders and carried them into the playoffs... Ronnie Brown. These two plays got us out of bad field position with four plus minutes left, to Jets territory and put them in a position to burn their timeouts....
