I've seen a couple renditions of that same message..., and I completely agree with you brother Pagan "Brilliant"
And you're both in your twenties and haven't invented **** except for how to get faced without peeing your pants...so SHADDAP.
Besides....just like the younger generation, you assume and accuse without having a shred of fact to back your arguments. Obviously, the guy in the picture isn't the one they're talking about. You have no idea how old the senior in question was, yet you immediately go on the attack. Tsk, tsk, tsk...
98% of the population doesn't invent ****, that's a terrible argument. I'd like to know how many people at 18 in his generation invented something worthwhile, since he is complaining to the college freshman who should be 18 as well.
Actually I've invented facial recognition software, and it put the guy somewhere between Benny Hill and dead, so I kind of figured out his age that way.
Probably not too many...they were a little busy with that whole "saving the world from the Nazis" thing.
1942-1945. Had to be at least 18 to fight. That means you had to be born by at least 1927. Meaning he'd be 82 today (at the youngest). You already said you have no idea how old the guy in the picture is, so how can you then assume he was old enough to fight in WW2?
Maybe they'll invent a type of clothing that binds the pants snugly around one's waist so they don't fall down, there's an idea. Maybe they'll create a new type of music that involves instruments and actual singing, that would be awesome.
Thanks pagan. I'm considered a senior now and I look in wonder at the younger kids now. I'm not going to say I had it harder etc. etc., but, I will say some of them "talk much and say little".
IMO anybody who reads this literally is missing the point. One group isn't necessarily better than another b/c they grew up with different technology (ie. opportunities and challenges). What matters is what you do with the challenges and opportunities you do have.
Then why do they keep you in your room now? Hey, I thought you were only 5. Have you lied about your age?
so what are you saying with all this stuff? are you disrespecting the old guy, his generation, and the ones they produced and raised? pete.. I dunno about you sometimes bro.
I don't know how you got that at all. I'm saying he is wrong about what his generation did. I'm sure there are plenty of things that his generation did that were worthwhile, just the things the freshman rambled off most likely weren't them.
Why, you ungrateful sod! Disrespectful of old people! If it weren't for them, we wouldn't have things like... McDonald's! Or... the atomic bomb! Clearly both are important contributions! Now hush before I cane you!
they were all his.. the inventions, the children they raised and taught to invent more, the companies they built and ran, the money invested, he was right on the money, and you chose to attack his credibility for no real reason. What would cause you to want to dimish what was said?
You are so far off base I'm not even going to reply. This is ridiculous. I retract my comment. Anything anyone older than me says is 100% right even, if facts prove otherwise. Good day to all.
I respect what past generations did, but there's a time when they have to realize that nothing will change. 50 years from now, people my age will be saying the same thing about the next generation that is being said today. It's an orbital message and I really don't understand why it's even brought up. All it does is offend people... That message offends me because it's calling my generation ungrateful and stupid. Personally I think the "what do you know? You're only XX years old" excuse is rather weak. Past generations create something, the new generation expands it. That new generation creates something else. Then a future generation expands it... Then the world keeps spinning...
Uuhhhmmmm. Due to recent events *cough* nut-hanging *cough* that might not be the best phrase to use bro
Great things really do come out of Iowa from time to time. ...................except Herbert Hoover, we don't claim him
old people smell like bug spray and moth balls........too bad they didnt invent good cologne back in them days
There's people of all generations that are ungrateful and stupid. Crap, my generation gets the blame for everything. The 60's were the down fall of the U.S. (heard this last night from a 29 yr. old.) The 70's, according to him were just as bad. So your right it goes round and round and will never end. I try to see people as individuals, but sometimes it is hard to. Someone informed me that "my generation" and my mothers had done nothing since WW1 and 2 to be proud of. She even insinuated that I shouldn't be so protective and proud of saying I'm an American or be anal about how my flag is handled. So, to me, there are some that need to be educated better on our country and have respect for their elders. My family was all Navy and I'm so proud to be a part of that and IMO I have every right to be proud of the accomplishments my moms and my generation have. I may joke about you younguns', but nothing else. Unless I'm pushed to defend myself.
