So I applied to college for a Police Foundations course and was nervous about getting accepted. There are only 45 spots and over 175 applicants and I was concerned about my English mark not being high enough. Let's just say I had a lot of sleepless nights. Well......I got the news today that I indeed met the requirements and was one of the 45 people chosen. My entire life I've always wanted to serve the community in some way, and I believe a police officer is the best career path for me. I have an incredible amount of respect for those in public service(Police, Fire, Paramedic, Military, Teachers) so I'm psyched about this. It's the first step in a long journey, and I'm ready to work hard in order to achieve my ultimate goal. Anyways, just thought I'd let you guys know and get some opinions on the profession, especially those who work closely with police officers(firefighters, paramedics, etc.) or who know any officers. Thanks , Brandon
Congratulations, Brandon! My brother is in law enforcement, and he's worked his way up through deeds and education. He has received the Carnegie Medal of Honor for heroism, and continued his education beyond his bachelor's. My advice is to try to not get jaded; this is something all people in public service deal with. Since you asked, even though it will be a challenge, and I respect that challenge, rely on your training to get you through tough situations where you may be in peril or have to judge a situation. Best wishes to you!
Thanks guys! Haha, I've heard that one a lot. I think it's one of the cardinal rules, do whatever you can to get home at the end of the day. Better be safe than sorry.
Way to go Brandon. My sons a firefighter/paramedic. Just hang on and be careful. My prayers will be with you.
Thanks Debby. I appreciate everything your son does for his community. He's probably saved a lot of lives Great work man! It's a great feeling knowing you've been accepted, it's like the world comes off your shoulders. And then a few months later it comes back because your starting classes Haha, don't worry, just leave your name and number and all you need will disappear
congrats man! Being a police officer was something I wanted to do in theory, I just became far to jaded against people when I worked fast food for 5 years.
Congrats bro. You went head to head with the competition and came out ahead. Glad to see you got what you want
