Dolphins: Not the only AFC East team with no-name WRs http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...ly-afc-east-with-inexperienced-receivers.html
I think our wide receivers are definitely better than the Jets'. Plus our QB is way better than whoever they will put out there. Their passing game might be atrocious this year.
That may be an understatement. I can't see a team in the league have a worse passing game than the Jets. At least a team like the Lions have one of the best receivers in the game. Maybe Oakland will be just as bad, but I really like that Heyward-Bey kid.
Just out of curiosity, can you name a receiver on the Dolphins who's had a 1,000 Yd receiving campaign in his career? Besides, we all know the Jets have at least one more FA signing up their sleeves... But for now, Cotchery >>>>> Any Dolphins receiver and you know it...
Wow, the Jets have ONE guy who had ONE 1,000 yard season. They're really smoking us in that department. And who's out there in FA that could make an immediate impact?
can you name the team who won the afc east last year and shored up alot of their weaknesses this offseason??? cause we all know 1000 yard campaigns define a team success
Obviously Burress is the high priority candidate (pending legal status obviously), say what you will but he's a target and the defense has to deal with him... And Jones (the so far under achieving) quality receiver... I wouldn't rule out trade possibilities either. Nothing has happened with Boldin yet, Edwards wants to stay in Cleveland supposedly but anything can happen...
How'd that stellar offense work out for you when it mattered? Yes, Turner will get separation on guys like Revis and all your problems will be solved Or White will be 10x better than Brad Smith is at receiver... POSSIBLY
I don't think the Jets can afford Boldin. Im not sure what their cap looks like, so I could be mistaken though.
There's ways around the cap... I'm not sure of all the details but incentive bonuses, signing bonuses, etc... Somehow you can work it so not all the money paid to him comes out of the cap...
Based on what? One 1000 yard receiving season? I'm taking Ted Ginn over Cotchery any day of the week. He is more explosive, gains more yards per catch, is younger and has more potential. If you want a receiver who will only rack up around 900 yards a season then go nuts, Cotchery is your man. If you want a receiver who has the ability to rack up 1000 yards a year and has the ability to return kicks/punts and run reverses for scores than Ginn is your guy. Cotchery's third year, he started all 16 games and had 961 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 11.7 yards per catch. I can almost guarantee Ginn will have more than 1000 yards receiving, more than 11.7 yards per catch and at least equal six receiving touchdowns. He made a big leap receiving his second year in the league, he's now ready to break out.
Regardless of who is on the field, their arm strength far exceeds that of Pennington... Clemens with the obvious edge in that department though... I have no qualms about an 'inexperienced' QB taking the field... They have to start some time...
Doesn't he need someone to get him the ball down the field though Ginn is obviously overrated by Dolphins fans, I understand, it comes with the territory... But until he does anything even remotely fantastic in this league, take him off the pedestal... He's an average receiver right now with 'potential' Nothing more...
Oh yea, I forgot. Arm Strength is more important than accuracy, poise in the pocket, experience, and leadership. You know, all the stuff that made Pennington last year.
Yup, he showed a ton of it when it mattered... Same story, different team... That's why Henne will be starting in 2010... As a matter of fact, it's already been announced, no?
Lets let it play out on the field folks, how can you argue with a fan whose team/fans can't even spell their team's name? Still waiting on an answer to that question on how the Jets gold game went while we were in the playoffs. Let's keep it fun folks, keep it fun, poor guy can't help it being a Jets fan, think how terrible that must really feel?
Good game against SD in 04, horrific game against Pitt right afterward... The guy couldn't do sh!t... D and specials put up 17, Brien put up the other 3... Pats in 06 was abysmal as well... And we all know what happened last year... We hated him (when he was on our team) for a reason... Had nothing to do with how 'accurate' he was...
Just out of curiosity, can you name a receiver on the jets who's had a 7 receiving TD campaing in his career?
In 2002, GREAT game against Indy, followed up by a bad game in Oakland. In 2004, great game against SD, bad game against Pitt. In 2006, solid game against NE. So, 2 great games against 2 bad games with one solid game thrown in there. I just wanna point this out, listen to yourself talking sir. You say he had a "good" game against SD, when it was actually great because he threw 2 Tds, 0 Ints, and had a 115.6 passer rating. How is that good? It's amazing. You also ignored his first ever playoff game where he torched the Colts.
1) Ted Ginn should be in the Pro Bowl discussion this year 2) Marvin Harrison is still available too, though many doubt if there's tread left on his tires 3) Clowney is a big-play guy. I've been surprised he hasn;t really clicked yet. He could be a real sleeper success this season if the QB situation settles in New York. I can see Clowney having a 2006 Marques Colston type season.
Of course I did... It hurt my argument :P And the SD game, the stats are slightly inflated... But I said he was good... What more do you want, no way are the words associated 'Chadwick / Amazing' EVER lol
the WR corp is too young to grade & the most difficult to predict 6 out of 53 will make it GinnJr, Bess, Turner, Camarillo (injured), Armstrong, B.Marion (r-injured) Hartline, C. Williams & London all in the mix lot of potential & a lot of questions have to wait until August for the tires to meet the road
Jerricho Cotchery the past 3 years has had more receiving yards than any Miami receiver. He may only have 1 1,000 yard season but it is sandwhiched by a 961 yard and 868 yard performances, as the the 2nd option. I'll continue to take Cotchery over anyone on Miami's roster. Yes, even over the amazing Ted Ginn. Just as you have high hopes for Davone Bess to fill in as your #2, we have high hopes for David Clowney. When it comes to the slot, Chansi Stuckey and Greg Camarillo are fairly even. Camarillo and Stuckey both have one season of OK ball underneath their belts. Both our receiving cores are full with young, unproven players with a lot of potential in each of their games (Ginn, Bess, Camarillo, Turner) and (Clowney, Smith, Stuckey, Wright). There is only one proven player and that man is Jerricho Cotchery. They are two of the weakest units in the league, on paper. I however feel both the Dolphins & Jets receivers will break out big this season. For the Jets I think it will be Stuckey & Clowney while the Dolphins will see Davone Bess break out big and Camarillo will continue a strong rapport with Pennington. Chad looks to him a lot in bigger situations (at least thats what I saw in the first 11 games), much like he did with Wayne Chrebet here at the beginning of Chad's career with the Jets.
Please tell me you are joking. #3 Receiver at best? I would hope that nobody would echo this ridiculous statement. Jerricho Cotchery comes down with amazing grabs and is great at breaking tackles. He is no star but he is certainly a very, very good #2 receiver. He is very reliable. As a #2 receiver without a true #1 along him (Coles hasn't been a #1 in about 4 years) and Quarterback problems he has put up 961, 1130 and 861 yards. He is a #2 for sure, not a #1 by any means but we are hoping one of the young guys can step up and ease things for him this season, as well as Dustin Keller who is more of a receiver than a Tight End.
If Chris Chambers was considered our last "recognized" number one, then the bar hasn't been set far from Ginn's reach. In fact, ever since Marino, has it even mattered? Its been less a case of "Who's our number one", and more simply, "Who can catch the ball?"
I'd say that Bess is our slot guy for now and for the future. He's the prototypical slot receiver. Camarillo, Turner, London, Hartline, etc. will battle for the #2 slot. And ideally in the future our #1 and #2 should be Turner and Ginn or vice versa and our slot/#3 will be Bess. I think we'll try to make Bess what New England made Welker.
