Maybe its just me , however , I wish they would get Carey resigned this year instead of waiting next until next year. We still have a lot of cash under the cap this year and unused cap money doesn't get rolled over to the next year. Now would be the perfect time to sign him to an extension and be able to eat a good bit of the guaruntied money this year.

Young linemen with the ability to play either tackle or guard positions wont be cheap.

i disagree. it depends what position he plays at this year and whether or not he excels at it.

Great let's lose another linemen, brilliant idea. You know he can play RT so why would you ever let him go?

totally agree, though I think this regime wants to work with him a while before deciding whether to give him a long term, big contract. But hopefully they can do that before the end of TC and still take the cap hit this season, can they?

I'm sure they will start something before the end of the season. Sparano just needs some first hand experience watching him play. Then, once the slot him in the line, they will offer him a contract.

I think regardless of where he plays, they need to lock this guy in...long-term career type. This guy IS the cornerstone of the OL regardless of which of the 4 spots he plays.

Obviously, they are gonna bring other guys in around him that will largely dictate where he plays, but that's the beauty of Vernon, he can play VERY WELL at any of the four spots (Excluding center of course)

He is also a VERY high character guy from all accounts.

FO I am sure has already been in contact with Vern's "People". Cant let a guy like this go anywhere.

Depends entirely on how the contract is written up bro..and actually that is a very good point . By TC they (FO) should have a very good idea of what the Draft picks are gonna cost. They then can address guys like Vernon.

It would definetly be better to go into the 09 Season with Carey signed. Carey's play at LT last year does not make LT a dire need in the draft, although we definetly need a RT if we leave Carey at LT.

Most likely they will resign him before the season ends. Probably want to see him for 5-6 games and make sure they know what they have.

The FO should be able to start working on this after the draft, then they will know who we have on the team, and whether they plan to flip him over to the right side.
