    WOW.wow.wow.

They both look stunning, but versus has me intrigued the most.

can someone EXPLAIN what the hell 'versus' is? I'm to lazy to research it, plus as I don't have a ps3, i'm not motivated either. It does look phenominal though.

If these games play half as good as they look then Square Enix will have done quite the achievement.

Isn't the whole delay here porting it to the 360?

I guess technically here since PS3's aren't region coded (I believe) FF fans could just get the Japanese version to hold them.

Your guess is as good as mine, though I don't think porting it would be that difficult. It's mainly the translation that takes the longest. First it all has to be translated to english, then you need to hire english voice actors. and so on and so on.

I wonder how much does the 360 have to do the 2010 launch date. The PS3 version has been in development for a long time and I think its close. Are they waiting to release XIII until the 360 version is done?

That gap isn't any different than most of squares games. The Japanese generally get their games wayyyy before we do. The 2010 release isn't the slightest bit surprising to me. I also don't expect it to hit it's april 2010 mark. I actually think it will be closer to the holidays.

Look at Nintendo and the DSi. Japan got it 4 months ago, America won't be getting it for at least 3-4 more months. If that.

From what I can understand, Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII happen in the same universe, but they are two seperate storylines.

yeah. If the stories intertwine (and are well written) they have the potential to be awesome. im definitely interested in both. May even succumb to purchasing a ps3 if it comes to it.

From what I read, none of the three FFXIII games intertwine. They'll have some background in common regarding some crystals, but that's about it.

Ok, I just watched Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, and there is a sneak peak of FFXIII. I'm not sure how much of the footage is new (I can't recall seeing most before), but the movies look unreal (better than some films) and the in game footage rivals pretty much anything I have seen on PS3. It looks that good. Wow, man.

Sadly I watched the first half hour of the game in japanese. I have no idea what they were saying but man did it look good. You could NOT tell when they went from a cutscene to gameplay. It was that fluid. I am stoked for this game.

And I just might be getting it on the ps3 rather than the xbox for 2 reasons. A) I think Square Enix hates Achievements/Trophies, cause in every game so far, the ones they do are impossible to get, or just not worth your time. and B) if it is going to be one disc on blu ray and 2-3 discs on the xbox, im just gonna have to go ps3.

Its an RPG, it isnt necessarily entirely about the actual gamepla all the time. There is story, plot and character development, world exploration and just having a ****load of stuff you can do.
I guess some people like it more than just mindlessly pulling the trigger for a gun or whacking at a virtual baseball. Nothing wrong with any of them, but I guess not everything is for everyone. :)

Well you will never gain the kind of emotional connection with a movies character the way you will an rpg character. At most you spend 3 hours with a movie character. You spend 30-40 hours trying to save the world as Cloud Stryfe, your going to feel everything he feels. You're going to fear the enemy, you're going to be knee deep into the relationships, and you're going to want to see the ending to know how it all goes down. etc.

RPGs are popular because in an industry built around games that are usually supposed to be 8-10 hours long, heres a genre of games that you KNOW are going to be worth $60 cause even the shorter ones are stil 30 hours long.

RPGs aren't for everyone. Especially Japanese RPGs. THe fighting isn't based on timing, technique or how fast you can push a button. They're about strategy. They require the most amount of thought to beat the bosses. Like if you're strongest attack is an Ice attack, and the boss is invincible to Ice attacks, that requires you to go about the fight in an entirely different ways. I know that sounds silly but even something as small as that makes you play the game differently. In a world of Killzones and halos where you do the same thing from start to finish, games like Final Fantasy and Fallout stand on much higher ground. (IMO of course)

Now the real question is this, have you played one? Cause i know where you're coming from. By just looking at the game, the concept does seem stupid. "Why do I have to wait my turn to attack?" ANd you're right. but you get past that.

I remember as a kid i watched my sister play FFVII and i laughed at her saying "what is this, chess?" then i went and played crash bandicoot for 2 hours. But a couple years later i popped FFVII in for myself. Lets just say, i cared a lot more about what was going on in FFVII then Crash Bandicoot. (oh no, neo cortex is after crystals!)

I like it better than the normal version. There is no reason to rush out and get it, but you should get it once you find it for a decent price IMO. There is 26 extra minutes of footage and a crazy amount of revised scenes. I think the movie makes a lot more sense now than before, and some of the new stuff is real good.

I'm going with PS3 too as I think a fair amount of people will. For me it's reason B and the belief that it would be kind of silly to buy a port when I could get it on the lead platform. This is why I was arguing the other day that this title could be the first multiplatform where PS3 sells more than 360. Especially if the port ends up being flawed in any way.

The graphics look amazing, I can't wait to get a hold of this. I haven't been interested in a FF game really since FFX but this one looks like it's going to pull me back in.
