I really want them to call Wood up. Not sure why Willits got the call, though now that Vlad is down I suppose the OFer makes a bit more sense.

Part of me is thinking how you are. The division isnt that strong, so if we can stay close we'll have a chance late.

Pedro's agent called the Angels after Adenhart passed and they said no thanks. The thinking was by the time he was in shape we'd be getting Lackey and others back. Now that Moseley is down for a bit too they might have to rethink that. Pedro needs to lower that 5mill asking price, though. Isnt Paul Byrd a FA too? Might give them both a call and see who'd be cheaper.

I don't like that Aardsma's been taking some of the save opportunities though.

I don't understand why they called up Willits either. In my opinion this is exactly why the Angels don't go far in the playoffs, they have way too many slap hitters with no power. I'd call up Wood and stick him at SS, 3B or DH and just tell him to hit the crap out of the ball. Especially with Vlad out is there anyone on that team that has 20 HR power besides Hunter, Abreu and maybe Morales/Rivera?

Paul Byrd is a FA, he said he wanted to take half the year off and maybe pitch in July and on. One thing about Byrd is if any team signs him before June 15th, then the Red Sox will get there sandwich round pick.

I know the Angels are hoping to get Lackey, Escobar, and Santana back but if I were them I'd still think about signing Pedro (or someone else) anyway. A lot of reports I've read say it's only a matter of time before Santana has TJ surgery. I'd rather have too much pitching than not enough. I'm sure they could make a trade for guys athe deadline as well too.

Hey even better new is that Brandon Wood is free (for now at least). If he doesn't play 6 out of 7 days a week while Vlad is out than the team should just trade/release him because they're wasting his talents if he just warms the bench.

Izturis should go to the bench (him hitting 3rd makes me want to kick a small child) and Wood should be in the lineup everyday. Rotate him around 3B/SS/DH and let him hit some much need HR's. He wont have a great average, but it's time to get him an extended look at big league pitching.

I'm glad Scioscia moved Kendrick down in the lineup. He's struggling and Izturis batting 3rd is a travesty. However, I dont understand why we call Wood up and dont play him. We have a chance to see if this guy is any good. Let him play! I need a reason to watch this team lol.

Worst bullpen in baseball is striking again. :tantrum:

Matt Palmer (Whoever the hell that is) gave us a quality start and the offense has scored some runs this series. :pity:

edit: man, where's this offense coming from lol. (Charter, for whatever reason, is very flaky in showing the Angels games so I'm watching delayed w/ stat tracker)

It's a joke that Wood hasn't even played yet.

Looks like Paul Byrd is ready to make a return, I think the Angels should jump on him. He won't be the difference maker but he can give them some innings.

This is bull****! For the 3rd night in a row Charter isnt showing the Angels game. :tantrum:

Apparently the Angels withheld 25 games and made cable providers pay extra for those. Of course I have the one cheap provider that wouldnt pony up the extra dough. At least take it off the damn guide so I have all day to absorb the fact that I cant watch the game. Nothing like looking forward to a game only to turn to the channel that says Angels Game!!! to find out that they decided to show Sports Bloopers instead!

    /end rant

Ah Don, I guess it's time to to get the dish and get DirecTV. At least there FSW does not get pre-empted on it. Also, the DirecTV is needed for the Dolphin games anyway.

I'm hoping it's the Angels who can hang around at this point. If we're close when we get healthy I like our chances down the stretch.

Look at it this way, we had 1 major league pitcher go this series and he shut down their offense. Imagine what we could do if we had 5 big league pitchers lol.

We are undefeated in the red jersey:up:
Of course this was the first game this year that the red jersey was used.

Maybe they should be used more frequently.

Think of everything we've dealt with to start this season and we're a game and a half back...if we can get healthy we better win this division.

Good game for the Angels tonight. You guys beat the best pitcher in baseball with 1 run on 4 hits. Unfortunately, the Royals still haven't learned how to hit hit the ball.

Good game, I like pitcher's duels. Just wish it would have ended up the other way on the scoreboard.

Been so busy with work lately I completely missed that Santana was coming back. Looks like he did pretty well for his first start back. It's great to see, though the SP has been amazingly solid despite all the injuries.

Were rumors of leaving Loux in the rotation and putting Escobar in the BP when he gets back. The BP needs the help. If Escobar is healthy I'd make him the closer.

I hope they move Escobar to closer when he returns. Fuentes scares me and isn't doing as well as I thought he would.

Well the John Lackey return was sure a short one:pity:, thanks to some truly obnoxious umpiring:tantrum:
Here is the facts of his return.
Pitch 1, behind Ian Kinsler back
Pitch 2 hits Kinsler in the ribs.
That was it as Bob Davidson ejects Lackey at that point:tantrum::angry:

Ejecting a pitcher after two just pitches is flat out obnoxious and gutless umpiring. :tantrum: Especially a pitcher who had not thrown a pitch all season, since there should be an expectation of some wildness.

Yeah that was insane. I really wish the umps would just sit back and let the two teams play the game and let the players work it out on the field (unless of course it gets really out of hand). I mean just take Tuesdays Angels/Red Sox game, Masterson is wild as hell, in 3 innings he walked something like 4 guys and hit one and his 2nd pitch in the 4th he throws it behind Torii Hunters' legs and both benches get warned. For what? The umps need to understood that the fans pay to watch the players not the umps.

The Lackey start was hysterical. I'm sure he was livid given how long he's waited to get on the field. I havent read if the Angels are going to give him a full 5 days, or if they'll push other people back and let him pitch vs Seattle? His arm cant be tired lol.

Getting swept by Texas sucked. We went in pretty hot. I trust in the ability of their pitching to fall apart eventually lol.

Really ugly homestand:tantrum: Since Vlad has returned the offense was pathetic. Only 14 runs in the first 5 1/2 games. In fact it took an 8 run comeback, with Ichiro not being able to get to a pop-up by Vlad, to advert a sweep by Seattle.

The one good thing was the victory in the sleeveless uniforms on Sunday. The Halos are now 2-0 in the sleeveless uniforms:up:

Nice to see Santana respond with a nice start. He was in danger of losing his starting spot in the rotation if he'd gotten shelled again. Him and Lackey both pitched well, hopefully that continues. Scoring some runs would be nice too.

Well Jose Arredando was demoted to Salt Lake this week. Obviously his pitching has been a mess this year. Hopefully he will get into groove down there.
And to think that many baseball experts thought that he was ready to take over for K-Rod as a close this year. Ah, that is sure not the case.

Hopefully Kendrick finds his swing. Guy was an easy .300+ hitter when he was healthy and now he's been healthy and he can't hit anymore LOL. Teams hit well since scioscia yelled at the team. Of course facing SD might have something to do with it also. Hunter deserves to be in the all-star game hopefully this 3 hr game will get him a little more pub to push him over the top.
