I would not pay $400 for a system if it was just to play 2 games and a couple blu-rays personally.

If you really thought you'd get more than just those games and movies, fine. But also, I think you can find used ps3's for less than $400.

well the backwards compatibility is a big thing for me. but i think your right. If there ever is a price cut though, i think that's when i'll make the buy.

If you can afford it, get it. Forget the hard drive space, the 60GB models have ALL the extra features. The extra USB ports, complete backwards compatibility, all that good stuff. There are at least half a dozen good exclusives you can get. More than that really.

    both sides have good points.

a modded 360 trumps anything and everything that the ps3 can do. period.

but, if you are going plain jane and comparing the 2 systems then it gets a bit hairier.

everyone is so scared about the RROD...but it's actually cool in a way and let me explain. there are many people that have never had the rrod, and there are some that have had it a few times...but the 3 year warranty is amazing. and both the wii and ps3 have a 1 yr i think. there are plenty of people you can read online about how their wii or ps3 died and they had to pay $150 or so to get it fixed. the 3 yr makes up for the fact that yes, it is more prone to fail.

so lets say you have your 360 for 3 years and it never rrod's ....and then it does after the warranty is expired...just buy an arcade version for...$150 and boom you just paid the same thing as the wii and ps3 repair. my neighbors wii is just over 1 yr old and is dead. so he's basically SOL

the ps3 is stock full of features and imo, is great as a media center. it annoys me to no end how often i have to update it, AND how long it takes. anytime i actually turn it on to play a game i got 20 mins worth of system updates and then a game update before i can play.

I use tversity to stream from my pc to my ps3 and it works very well for all content ...i am kind of annoyed with the ps3 at the moment because i put it in a nice little entertainment center thing and its LOUD...the center has no back, and no glass in the front and the fans still end up pretty loud after about 10 mins. I'm thinking that I will unfortunately have to take it out and make room for it in the wide open air.

    360 controller > ps3 controller

I use vga from my 360 to my 1080p samsung and it looks just as good as my ps3 over hdmi. they are both in 1080p.

with a little research and refusal to be a sheep you can easily use a 25$ router as a wireless bridge to your 360, and you can upgrade your hard drive to a 120gb for 45$

i personally feel xbox live has always provided much more of an "experience" than sony provides. that is my opinion...you can find xbox live cards on sale online for 30'ish bucks

I think the 360 provides the cheapest and best way into this generations gaming...you could be nickeled and dimed by microsoft, but you don't have to be a sheeple.

it annoys me that my logitech harmony remotes don't control my ps3 but it will control every other electronic device there is lol. yes i know there is a dongle, no i dont want to buy it. yes i bought the ps3 remote.

either system is great really. i don't think you can go wrong either way. i ugraded to the 120gb for my 360 due to the new ability to install to the hard drive and that has really changed my opinion of the 360 because i will admit it was pretty noisy with the disc spinning...now it's nice and quiet for the most part.

If I were smart I would sell my 60gb ps3 and just build a media center shuttle and be done with it since all I will ever use the ps3 for is blu ray's and movies (HTPC would completely eliminate the need for the ps3 for me and do it better).

They (logitech) actually just came out with a new receiver for the Harmony remotes that connects to the PS3. The blu-wave dongle is cheaper, but the new logitech adapter allows full functionality.

It's $60, depending on your definition of expensive. I am personally waiting on it to get below $50.
