I hate sweet sauce too. If you cook it long enough the sauce loses it's acidity. You can also puree some carrots and add it to the sauce if you wish, sugar in sauce is a big no no.

And tell your Pop that my grandparents and my Mom - all born in Italy - didn't even CALL it "spaghetti". It's macaroni, no matter what it is that's in the pot.

Sauce is something you throw on the stove and it cooks up in 15 minutes. GRAVY is what your grandmother started cooking at like 7:00 and it wasn't ready until after 12:00. Gravy has meat in it, sauce does not.

You guys have become a little too "Americanized". Besides, you don't even like cannolis! How can I take anything you say seriousluy?
