I've never been so terrified by a thunderstorm as by the one thats happening outside right now. Car alarms are going off left and right. The thunder and lightning sounds like A-bombs dropping in my parking lot. My building is shaking. This is worse than a hurricane. I hope my building doesnt get hit.
Took a medical leave of absense and I'm glad to be back. I do not deserve to be back the way I acted over the last month before my leave, but I'm happy to have such great friends on here that have given me a second chance.
Thanks brother and I think you will too. Shonn was an excellent choice and after we ride Thomas Jones into the ground this season and then cut him, Shonn and Leon will be the pair in 2010. Hopefully we can get the ball in Shonn's hands a lot in the 4th quarter for 2009 though. He definitely softens the whole GQ Glamor Boy thing.
its pretty much over now. the red radar stuff has faded to mostly yellow now. that was an intense 40 minutes or so. i hope no one was hurt.
strangely enough, the power didnt even flicker once during the whole thing. and usually my power goes out rather quickly once it starts cracking lighting in my area.
I hope he blows up to 300 pounds again and can't see his feet looking down! I would have been glad to root for him in the NFL... until he went to the Jets!
Stay safe Gish. We've got nothing here other than a little bit of rain. Though, it was flooding earlier.
I fricking love T-Storms and that type of weather Being from Kansas, I grew up with that type of weather a lot. I love tornados, if I was 25 years younger, I would go and study that in a heartbeat. People out here in Colorado are scared to death of tornados, but that's okay.
i usually feel the same. but when it sounds like WWIII outside, i get nervous. i love hurricanes. its fun to stand outside and watch all the power transformers light up the sky. ive never seen a tornado while it was happening. but one time in ohio i came home from work to see my town completely trashed by fallen trees. luckily ive never had my home damaged by a severe storm of any kind.
Max and Pudy used to hate the thunder, I remember one time my front door was open and she was looking out the screen and a lighting bolt came down and just a sec or two later, the thunder hit and Pudy took maybe two steps on was in my lap. Thunder bothers Spook at times, but we don't get too much of it here in Colorado.
Don't worry Gish, it is probably over now. Hurricane's will be here shortly. Not that I'm happy to say that.
Geez-that was just a baby storm. I was at my sister's, standing in the driveway with my bro-in-law, having beers, and talking about re-shingling my roof. Looking at theirs (which I worked on) as an example. Storm was an afterthought. You big girl.
lol I woulda never guessed that Gish lived in Bithlo of all places! Maybe you can pick up some sexy toothless chicks at the School Bus Races!
you wouldnt have been standing outside if you were where i was at. the dark red part of the radar was right on top of where i live and it was cracking bombs every couple seconds for a good half an hour. i usually enjoy a good thunderstorm, was this was like Zeus and Raiden got together for a UFC match right outside my window. what? its orlando. hardly redneck. or am i?
I miss my Florida heat lightning shows and afternoon thunderboomers. It's cool as long as you're not outside playing tennis with a metal racket or on a golf course with an iron in your hand. Makes me want to go home...been away for a long time... EDIT: I would've turned off my computer and unplugged the thing...
Steve, I live in Manhattan currently ... we got a huge hail storm and a tornado within a week at this time last year. What part of the state are you from?
no pics Gish??? When I was seven, lightning struck a tree in our backyard, it was about 40 yards away from us. We were in the corner room closest to the strike... big backyard though, thankfully... I was blind for about 10 minutes.
Delaware weather. Ahhhh. As long as it's not winter or summer.. it's not bad. Winter is too freakin cold and windy and icy and summer is too humid. It's not the good humid like AZ it's the bad humid. Which is a lot better than NC. I can't take that humidity. Beautiful state but man does it get hot.
We've had storms down here every day for almost a week. We've been lucky we haven't been in a lot of severe stuff, but places around us have been hit hard. Yesterday it blew so hard it bent our flag pole. You should have seen me in the down pour trying to get our flags inside. It came on so fast they got soaked before I could get out there. We had 3 up around the property.
I lived on the eastern shore in Maryland in 93 when the northeast had that huge blizzard, and we had a huuuge ice storm. One of the scariest moments of my life. We lived in the middle of the woods, and there was so much ice and it was so heavy that the giant trees were snapping and falling. One took out our minivan, one took out the corner of our house/propane tank. And all you heard was the snap of the tree and then the crash. I've never been in war but I would have to equate it to being similar to having bombs going off around you but no idea where they're gonna be (granted, at a much lesser level of doom). I was 7ish years old, but my entire family was scared poopless and we fled and lived at a hotel for a couple days.
Mt. Dora-it's the highest point of elevation in the state. More of a hill, really...or a speedbump...
well where you pointed your arrow is more towards Bithlo. Bithlo is hardly anything but redneck. Now if you pointed that thing towards east Orlando, then maybe we should be having this conversation in spanish.
i live in college territory. the spanish community is mostly south west of where im at. but not off by much.
