We need atleast 5 good signings but history shows that Wenger doesn't make wholesale changes. We need at least 2 centre backs, a holding midfielder and two forwards - I would cash in on Adebayour - thankfully there isn't a cap in soccer (I only call it that on this site!) because we would be lumbered with his wages! I don't rate him, never have - he has scored some great goals but he doesn't put in a 100% and Arsenal's downturn at the end of last season and begining of this season can be atributed to his lack of form/effort
I hope not! I think Real Madrid will get their man! The whole circus from earlier this year and the way the Robinhio thing has played out may have put him off?!
So do I mate, but in fairness, as a Newcastle fan, the Toon dont deserve to stay up. After trying to get into a position to control their own destiny, which they did against Boro and then to lose it at home against Fulham, is just in-excusable. But this has been a strange season at the bottom, as none of the teams at the bottom have been able to string a few results together. Hull are expected to beat United youths team, but it would'nt surprise me if they lose that game.
I've got a feeling that toon will stay up be honest. It would be hard for a club like NUFC to drop down to the next level - look what happended to Leeds! Both my Dad and brother are NUFC fan's and are resigned to the drop but I think the last weekend has some suprises in store! Of all the teams in the bottom half I like WBA as they've stuck to their principles and played some nice football, it's not got them far but they've set themselves up for a quick bouceback.
No doubt the club will suffer finacially but I dont think the Toon will be in as bad a position as Leeds were, as Ashley paid off the debt when he took over (one of the very few good things he done). Yeah credit to WBA, they stuck to their principals, but they probably should have taken a chapter out of Stokes book. Pulis said they were not going to be pretty and he was right .
True I forgot he'd paid that off! It feels like Stoke only survived because everyone else forgot about them! They did well considering this year the bottom half of the table has been much closer than ever before.
I curse the day Kaka leaves Italy! But, he's such a true professional that whatever team he goes to I'll root for. Is there a fan anywhere that has any angst toward him? He must be one of the more well liked and respected athletes in the world.
Agreed on Adebayor. I dislike him; he's done some nice things but I dislike him up front at all times. I was RVP would stay fit through a whole campaign and would play at the top level. Completely agree. I don't know many, if any, that dislike Kaka.
I don't think it will happen. Those rumors were unsubstantiated, and even though ESPN or something reported it, it originated from a tabloid source (forget the name now, my dad told me) and that they are known for just throwing out rumors like this all kinds.......every year.
The lost it by not appointing a (decent) manager as soon as Keegan walked out on them. Also, what is it about Arsenal that they never add to a big score if up at half time!? drives me frickin mad!
he already turned down 500,000 pounds a week from them in january. No way goes to a team that cant sell out their stadium very often. If anything he'll go to Chelsea if ancelotti leaves.
Utterly disgusted by the Newcastle performance today. I have never been more pissed off and embarrased in a set of players in my life. All Newcaslte needed in the last two games was score one ****ing goal and we would have stayed up. After Man United's reserves and Chelsea did the business for us, all Newcastle had to do was get a result. And yet those players wearing the Newcastle jersey today were an absolute disgrace. Being honest we did'nt deserve to stay up, but neither did Hull, who were just as bad. Newcastle United will remain, but most all those players can rot in hell for all I care for what they gave for the club today and the season. Sorry for the rant.

Maldini interview. Great read IMO. He's very honest. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/world_soccer/05/21/paolo-maldini/index.html
1-0 Manchester wins. I don't expect a high scoring game because I expect Barca to control possession on the wings yet again but falter inside the eighteen. EDIT: Glad I'm wrong so far with the above. I'm rooting for Barca. I also wanted to share this article. I know I may be the only Bosnian on this website and probably the only one that cares about this but I'm dam happy about these young guys that are talked about in the article below. Bosnia has struggled a lot with just about everything since the war and Srebrenica so the players that are giving it their all and their heart to the country are very important to me. Bosnia is currently in second place in its Euro qualifying group, four points ahead of third place with four games left I believe. Next up is Estonia and Turkey. Anyways, this is it below. The rest of the article can be read here.
Also, did anyone else read that the winner of this game gets $154 million whilst the loser gets $91 million?
Oh sure, I thought it was a beat of a cheapie, but he did a good job at finishing it. Man U is back on their heels.
Exactly, he drove through two Man U defenders and beat the goalie on the short side, the Goalie barely flinched. To me, it was a good play and Man U was not "in the game" on defense at that point in time, Man U was attacking most of the early 1st half (with Reynaldo spraying shots wide of the mark I might add) and Barcelona pushed up field and Man U was statuesque...
The keeper hit the ball prior to its entrance into the goal. Agreed but that has nothing to do with Eto'o's finish. Prior to him striking the ball, yes, but after he got past the defenders, no; Cech was ready for it and failed to save the shot. Ronaldo had one shot wide of the goal I think; the other one was directly at Valdez on the free kick.
And that is sort of the problem with soccer Alen, it can take quite sometime until there is any real action in the game when I watch it.
I think that's the beauty of the game. Controlling possession and sending crosses in the back end. We have two brilliant attacking teams on the pitch and I think its great to watch, even if the result is one nil in the finale. You must hate watching Italian Serie A, lol. A few other thoughts that come to mind watching this game. - I'd love to see the pass completion percentage of Iniesta and Xavi. - Barcelona struggles a lot with the ball in the air and reminds me of the shaky back four of Arsenal. - Watching Yaya Toure play defense makes me uncomfortable lol. - The commentators announced that Leo Messi has never scored against an English team in the finals and Cristiano Ronaldo has never scored against a Spanish team in the final I believe; this is their time to step up and change that. Messi has been consistent in this tournament in my opinion but not in a great way; he's played well in the first half of games but disappeared in the second halfs, that disappoints me. Hopefully, Messi is the one to step up and not Ronaldo. - As much as I dislike Ronaldo, he's so great with the ball at his feet. Great control. Same can be said for Messi. - I wish Henry had put that one in the back of the net earlier. - Man U's back four has been OK this afternoon; I like what Vidic has done for the most part; him moving his head away from that Xavi free kick was disturbing. - One other thought; Puyol looks much better than his last outing.
You clearly love the Game Alen, for me, Renaldo looks like the best player on the field, Man U cannot mount a sustained attack, they are to careless with the ball, and Bacrelona appears to me to be giving the most all out effort. 2-0 Barcelona Edited to add...now Barcelona will play keep away and not bother attacking Man U's end of the field..
