Not a bad idea in my opinion. Especially because of his workout attitude, and his unselfishness for being the backup and accepting his split role to help the team. Having a value guy like that who just wants to win above his own personal accomplishments never hurts to have around, that't the attitude every new player who walks in here needs to have right from the get go.

I don't think it would cost too much. Between Ricky's career comming to an end and ronnies contract comming up for renewal the RB position will get very interesting for us after this season.

    I still don't trust Ricky.

I'd sign him to a long-term deal, but with absolutely NO SIGNING BONUS.

I think he needs to be a better football player this year then he was last year, i saw some very discouraging signs in his mentality while the ball was in his hands..

I saw ray lewis punk his *** on the sideline and ricky did not respond on the field. I dont think his age is enough of an excuse for the way he runs opposed to how he use to run.

Dont mean to go off track here but am i the only one whos pissed at ronnie brown...The guy is pushin close to 250 right now..I think its a big fat story {lol}. especially considering hes in his contract year....so so dissapointing.

I absolutely feel Ricky has earned our faith in keeping him here until he retires, as a Dolphin.

I think that it depends on how he performs this year. If he does well then i believe he should end his career in a phins uniform.

I would be really happy with Ricky Williams retiring as a Dolphin. I think he's redeemed himself for smoking all the pot and retiring early. Honestly though if you had to play for Wannstedt you'd probably get high and go crazy yourself.

I thought ricky had a great year. the only thing bad he did was that one wildcat dropped pass against the jets

Absolutely. If he plans to play one more season, it's a no-brainer to lock him up. He had two good seasons left. He can still hit the home run on any given play. I'd love to see him finish his career in Miami.

Because he's still a good tailback whose a important part of the offense and the running back committee.

Ricky is under contract this season so after the season sign him to a one and done contract. Give him a mill and let him play it out.

Careful talking about RB's weight. That is forbidden here apparently. :wink2:

I don't see how it makes sense unless RW's next contract is considerably lower. His salary right now is about $3.5 million. I don't think it be that hard to find an equivalent backup for half of that (or less). IMO Cobbs even would be a decent alternative. You'd probably get close to similar production at a fraction of the cost.

    Ricky wants to stay here.
Let him play it out this season, and sign him after week 10.

Ricky is gone after this year. Ronnie gets the tag and is gone after that. Dolphins double up on RB's & LB's next year. That is my early guess.

I wonder if his debt to the Dolphins has been paid. Remember him owing 8.5 million or somewhere around that a couple years back? Those years where he was on his hiatus from the NFL, he probably helped himself out for a longer career as a RB in the NFL. I saw some runs last season that indicated to me that he isn't washed up. If our o-line can open up some holes I have all the faith in the world that he can contribute at a high level.

Why not lock him up? IMO he can contribute and we have some rookies that he can help along the way. He was a premier back in the league, and why wouldn't a rookie want to learn from 1 of the best Dolphins ever?

If it is just for 1 extra year, I would say yeah get him for his last year. I wouldn't mind Ricky retiring a Dolphin. Plus the Dolphins will soon be in the market for a New RB and RW could teach them alot.

The debt has pretty much been forgiven as regimes changed. It is a non issue.
