Losing my passion and desire for the NBA by the possession tonight. Bail out after bail out after bail out.

    Come on, September.

George Karl sucks just as much as David Stern and his Oscar Nominated officiating crew.

And is it not obvious that all three commentators are rooting for the Lakers?

I don't know why the NBA even allows you to foul here.

Not just this game, but I've been saying this crap forever; TWO FREE THROWS and the ball for intentional fouls in this situation.

Kobe Bryant wins the hard fought game at the free throw line after choking on the previous jumpshot.

If the Lakers win Game 2 I am not watching the rest of the playoffs.

lets just start the cavs-lakers finals already... we all know the league will not let anything other than that happen

exactly...its stupid that they allow intentional fouls like that but dont call them as such. ruins the game...

anyway does anyone know if they added a point on that 3 pointer by melo in the first half? it was cleary a 3 but called a 2 and the announcer said they would review it but i didnt hear if they did or what...lakers stole that game

The end of this game reminded me why I don't really like watching NBA games.

2 phantom fouls in the last minute, the one on KMart was absurd, Denver takes the ball up court for the final play, a three point shot and the guy was prefouled, he never got the shot off.

To bad really, the other 58 minutes was pretty decent basketball.

I do not ever want to hear about Game 5 of the 2006 NBA Finals again after Kobe winning this game at the FT strike on a phantom hand check foul.

At least Wade got contact at the basket.

Why the **** are we watching it then? I'll shut down the Magic thread right now. No point in it. Man, we beat the Cavs a few times last year, it can happen again, let it play itself out. Let's see what happens in the next week or so buddy.

LOL @ all the whiney Laker haters. Considering Nuggets were hacking Lakers all over the offensive end and they actually had 2x as many FT's...

You won the game at the line on behalf of a phantom hand check foul. No contact. Didn't drive to the basket to earn his stripes. Nothing.

To even consider blowing the whistle there disturbs the hell out of me.

Martin reached and fouled. Everyone who doesn't have an unhealthy hate for LA could see it. Hell even JVG saw it. But in any case it makes up for all the rough non-called fouls and pushing Denver made.

Its the NBA playoffs people are always going to watch. The finals will be between LA and Cleveland. Stern is getting a chubby just thinking about a LeBron-Kobe finals.

The second before the phantom KMart foul, Nene (sp) was literally hugging Gasol, when Pau came up with the rebound and went up, KMart got the block, but they blew the whistle on that, not the bear hug.

    I'd be upset, then I recall...it's only the NBA...:wink2:

I don't have a problem with the FT disparity tonight because I watched the entire game possession by possession (whistles aside, very competitive)... Nuggets attacked the basket far more than the Lakers. They deserved those free throws, maybe even more. But I'm sorry. That is not a call you make at that point in the game. Furthermore, I cannot count the amount of steals the Lakers had tonight with even worse swipes.

This series is OVER now, though. Denver won't get a better chance to win a game in LA. They dominated this basketball game; the better team tonight clearly lost.

Physical defense is now considered hacking. And some people wonder why the NBA struggles with ratings compared to the MLB and NFL.

OT: What is ESPN doing asking for Magic Johnsons' analysis on a Laker game? He might be the biggest homer I have ever seen on national television.

No no. My hatred for the Lakers is why I care at all about the Clippers. I'd much rather see the Lakers fans humbled than to see the Clippers win lol.

Nene got the foul though so it was a late call on the hug...

Lakers attacked with merely slightly less frequency with significantly less calls. Look how many times Kobe kept getting tripped up and knocked down with no calls. LO driving gets hammered, no calls. Then you have "Birdman", who probably deserved tipped off the league about his substance abuse with the way he looks, grabbing and shoving the backs of Lakers on rebounds.

I love the thought of a Bron-Melo finals. Sparking a rivalry between two young exciting players is the way the NBA should go. Besides, I put a curse on Kobe; he'll be getting hit by a bus any day now.

If you're not going to call it, then don't call it both ways. Lakers tried playing physical and get called. Nuggets play physical and get half the calls.

And I'd rather see Notre Lame pull a Washington Huskies and go winless.

Smith and Bryant leapt at the same time. Ariza got pushed and fell, Smith landed on Ariza while Ariza was on the ground.

Sorry, just pissed at seeing so many Laker haters. It's like the reverse-bandwagon. I don't believe I've ever had personally or ever seen such baseless, blind, and putrid hatred for a non-rival team. It's like being the only posting Dolphins fan on a Raiders forum and every Raider fan poster's calling out the Dolphins for no reason.

Still, I thought this was meaner...

Speaking of Kobe... how many times did he use his elbow while Melo was trying to get positioned in the post? Didn't see a single call, but boy was he grabbing and holding every time.

I actually pulled for the Lakers to win it all last year after Miami was eliminated from the playoffs in about mid-November.

This year, however, I'm sick of it. I don't know if it's the bandwagon fans (not you guys in here) or the fact that I've been paying more attention to Kobe Bryant (an ex favorite player of mine for about a 4-5 year stretch) off the ball, watching how dirty he plays.

Yeah man, but I heard the same hype about a Celtics-Lakers rematch this year, and that didn't happen. And that was after Garnett was out. Don't bank the whole year on LeBron vs Kobe, if I believed that, I would'a quit watching months ago.

About the same number of times Melo used his. They were both elbowing, grabbing, and shoving. Could've gone either way. I like it this way though. Both were playing rough and using elbows.

I think there's really only one constant Laker fan (or even on their side) in here (now that BW's absent) to begin with so if there are any bandwagoner's I'd like em to at least give me some backup.

Kobe's played a lot more physical since Beijing. A lot of other players have played that way and I'm sure he's picked up a few things. Nothing I haven't seen outside of MJ's play though.

I didn't catch much of the 2nd half besides the last 3 minutes, but I wouldn't place any of the blame on the Refs (in regards to the nuggets losing). From those 3 mins, or from the 1st half.

Considering in 2002 (the darkest year in NBA history) Disney/ESPN outbid NBC to steal the NBA and then take pride in providing mediocre coverage at best with horrendous commentary (except Mike Breen), I am not surprised at all. TNT is the only saving grace to the NBA, but of course they don't have the finals.

Everything about ESPN/ABC is bad: the camera angles, the washed out colors, the muting of the crowd noise to "emphasize the commentators," unoriginal and forgettable music themes, etc. Jalen Rose an analyst? LOL what a joke.
