Seriously, I know how long a baseball season is... but to go from 11-1 to 17-18 is embarrassing, disgusting, sad, pathetic, etc.

6-17 run, are you kidding me?????

Dude over that period we are by far the worst team in baseball.

The FO has to take the heat on this one. Beinfest has made a living off of his trades in the past, well karma is catching up with him this year. He has tried to be too cute, and too smart for himself. Bonafacio for Willingham and Olsen has not worked out. I would rather have Willingham and his OBP than Bonafacio's OBP, and also the fact that Willingham also would drive in more runs. That has hurt the offense immensely.

The Cabrera/Willis for Maybin/Miller/Badenhop deal looks worse and worse everyday. Maybin may get his act together in the Minors, but I am not holding my breath. As for Miller, I just don't think he is major league talent. We will see if he is ready when he comes back from his rehab.

Gaby Sanchez just looked horrible in his brief MLB stint this year. Completely overmatched at the plate, he looked like a deer in the headlights. Defensively he also looked like a minor leaguer. The jury is still out on him.

The Proctor signing was the pen-ultimate arrogance for Beinfest, calling the signing at the time that Proctor was expected to be a major for our bullpen this year, when he knew that there was more than a 50% chance that Proctor wouldn't make a single pitch for the Marlins this year.

And what has happened to our "depth" in our farm system ? And all of that supposed talent ? Beinfest has spent so much effort on building up the pitching and then when they get to the majors they aren't MLB level talent. From that 2005 draft, Volstad looks like a stud, but Tankersley is gone because he stunk, and Sinkbeil hasn't even had a wiff of the MLB. All three were 1st round draftee's and should have been instrumental in this year (and beyond). It looks like we hit on maybe one of them.

Beinfest now has to put his eggs into the Matt Dominguez and Kyle Skipworth basket and hope those kids workout or he has really been a disaster. You can't keep missing on your 1st round guys and expect to stay in an MLB front office.

On a happier note......yestderday, the Marlins put up a webpage with "Stadium Cam" in which you can follow the progress of the new Marlins Ballpark.

Miller has pitched great his last two starts. Yeah I know he gave up some runs last time out, but that's a tough lineup and without the error in the first he would have given up nearly nothing. The outing before that he showed why he is special as well. If he can keep it up I have no regrets about him.

From what I hear Maybin is tearing up the minors now and the club has little doubt that he is going to be our starting center fielder for a long long time. He just needs to put on those finishing touches to his game.

The best thing we could ever do IMO is hire a new hitting coach. It's embarassing how much we strike out, and the talent is most certainly there. It's embarassing to watch Emilio do his uppercut swing when he should be slapping balls around. It's embarassing to see that only our can't miss prospects ever make it.

I agree its time for Jim Pressley to get a pink slip. He is not the best hitting coach out there. I guess its just a "money thing" and Pressley probably works for less $$$ so that is why Loria hired him and keeps him.

I will admit he is good at changing a players stance a bit. We've seen a lot of guys who get called up tweak their batting stance some. He's terrible at working out the kinks in their swing though.

But he needs to do both, especially the later one, its more critical in the hitting cycle.

Which is exactly why I think he needs to move on

How many good prospects have we seen called up that just never adjust to major league hitting? I mean you can't tell me that none of them had the ability. I'm afraid the same thing is happening with Coghlan, and most recently I think we've seen it in Hermida.

Hermida.....what an enigma he is. :pity: You don't want to keep him, because he looks like a bust. But then you have to remember he is barely 25 and supposedly has a lot of upside. The problem is if you get rid of him, he then goes somewhere else and becomes a star. Then you definately know its Pressley, but then you also have lost a big cog in what was supposed to be the design to win a championship for the 2012 New Stadium year.

Which coach are we talking about ? Freddie ? Forget that, he just signed a 3 year guaranteed contract. No way Loria lets him go and still has to pay him $ 10 million. It ain't happening.

He's been hitting pretty well recently....on certain games. Maybe I'm trying to be optimistic. At the very least he always makes pitchers work. I'm hoping he can turn that corner, but who knows.

One thing that makes me upset is that our patient hitters are overly patient. How many first pitch fastballs right over the middle of the plate have we taken this year? Pitchers know we just don't swing at that pitch.

Its not really been his hitting per sé, because he hits, but his power numbers have been a HUGE dissapointment. He was expected to hit 25-30 HR's a year and drive in 100+, but his best so far is 15 HR's in 2007. I think last year he was down from that. His defense also is a huge liability and because he is not producing those power numbers, he is basically a bust (being picked 11th overall in the 2005 draft - by the way Cole Hammels was taken by the Phils 13th in that draft :pity:).

He hits in stretches. What's he hitting around .270-ish right now? To me he's a guy with potential to hit over .300 and 20 home runs.

I think it would be really interesting to see Hermida in the leadoff spot since he can get on base and has decent speed.

It might be interesting to see him hit leadoff, but his potential is to be a 3 or 4 guy, and to drive in those runs. It will be amazing if he is here after the ASB.

I think what makes it interesting is the fact that no-one else on this team really fits the spot except Hanley and they want him in that 3 spot. If the power doesn't come around and Bonifacio continues not getting on base I think it's a good fit. It's maxes out his best skill at the moment which is getting on base.

You're right though, you hope he can become that #3 or #4 hitter in the lineup, it just hasnt been that way so far.

Its such a shame and a real mystery because in the minors he showed that power off big time, and everyone just assumed it would happen in the majors too, but it just has never clicked for the guy.

Bonfraudio needs to be gone, in the worst way, in absolutely the worst way.

I don't think he needs to be gone.....he just needs to develop consistancy. When he hits he really hits, and his defense isn't bad. He makes a lot of tough plays. He's one of those guys I think will be around for a long time as a utility player who hits around .270, steals some bases and plays solid defense.

He has the potential to do better than that, but as of now that's what he is. It really sucks because by not getting on base you have to hit him lower in the lineup which really takes away the advantage of his speed.

:confused2: Ummmm Alex Bonifraudio has the worst fielding % (.935) of any 3rd baseman that has played 40+ games at 3rd base. And only Chipper Jones has a worse fielding % (.927) of anyone who has played 30+ games at 3rd base. So I'm not sure why you think his defense isn't that bad. Most of the players are at .960+. So he's not a plus in the field, and he's a disaster at the plate. He is one of the worst players in MLB, and in my opinion as far as I am concerned should never put on a Marlins uniform ever again. I have seen enough. 25% of the season is a good enough sample size to know this guy is not an MLB player.

That's weird, it doesn't seem to me like he's made that many errors  I guess it's because he's displayed some decent range and made some nice plays that my mind has blocked out the bad ones

Now I feel like he's ruining everything  put Wes Helms in the game. At least he's solid.

Oh and I just want to use this - :omg:

Yeah its one of those things, his bat has been so bad, you don't notice just how bad he is in the field. He is a minus, minus player and needs to be removed. But I am afraid this is the FO being stubborn. Bonifraudio is being given every chance, and probably will all season, because he was the centerpiece of the Willingham/Olsen trade, and it makes Beinfest looks bad enough that he is playing bad, but it would be a total admission that Beinfest completely screwed up by sending the Fraud to AAA.

Remember Jorge Julio, the "He's our guy" dude ? Look how long it took, and how many losses it took to get rid of that guy. This is the next big boo-boo by Beinfest and the Fraud, is this year's "Our Guy".

Don't remind me of Julio. I kept hoping he would turn it around.....a guy can't pitch that bad forever right? Apparently I was wrong, a guy CAN pitch that poorly forever.

Bonifacio is young......it's his swing that makes me angry. He looks like he's trying to lift the ball, he goes into a crouch before he hits the ball and swings upward. If he could level out his swing he would be a much better hitter, but I guess that isn't happening. I wouldn't be angry if he was replaced, but he wont be. So all we can really do is hope he plays better sadly.

Bonifacio with two doubles, Hermida on fire.....seriously. Great win today.

Terrific win....5 and 3 against the Mutts this year so far. And no matter what happens tomorrow we will still have a winning record against them. Okay enough basking in glory, we need to go out and nail down this series tomorrow and then come home and win some games in The Shark against the Brewski's.

If we could hit the ball how good would we be? It's so frustrating to see pitchers go 7 innings and give up 1 to 3 runs and LOSE the game or get a no decision.

Have to say if West can pitch to his potential I'm really happy with the rotation the rest of the way. Especially if Ricky can come back from the minors and pitch well, not lights out like last season but just well. I think I'm one of the few fans of Sanchez as well....if he could just stay healthy. Especially as the #5 pitcher. This rotation looks really good to me. Of course it doesnt have to be in this order.

    Johnson
    Volstad
    West
    Nolasco
    Sanchez

Add Miller to my above post.

Not his best start tonight, but you know what? I don't blame him. How you throw the ball straight over the plate and don't get a strike called 5-6 times in an inning is beyond me. He fought through his struggles and limited the damage which is big in young pitchers.

I'm really excited to see what Anibal can do. I don't want to give up on him....he has such great talent. He just needs to be healthy and apparently he is. I hope he comes out strong, I really like the guy and want him to do well.

Oh and I have to be the first to say this.

It's about damn time Julio won a game for us!

I unfortuantely missed the game last night, but am really looking forward to seeing it at MLB.TV today. Hopefully this is the start of a turnaround at home. We have a losing record at home at that is disconcerting. You have to win at home if you are indeed to turn this season around.

Be glad you didn't see the second inning.

They load the bases on Miller with one out, not entirely his fault. The mound was wet and he couldnt get his footing on the follow through. Anyway the pitcher comes up. Miller throws about 4 balls over the middle of the plate....that are all called balls and the pitcher walks.

He tries to throw one right above the knees....ball one. Tries to throw one just under the letters. Ball two. Inside corner....ball three. Outside courner....ball four. He did get one strike in the at bat. I thought the game was over right then, but he got out of the inning without giving up too many runs.

As soon as Julio came in the game I knew we would win. Why would you even have that guy on your roster.

Going to go on the record as saying I think June is a big month for us. My predictions? We end the month with an overall record over .500 and either second or third in the division depending what the other teams do.

Our rotation coming together is really nasty, assuming West continues to pitch well as well as Miller.

I agree with you. It seems this is going to be a streaky team all year. Hopefully this streak lasts most of the month, because we have series against the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays as well as against our division foes. We need to be playing well to come out ahead. The guys still need to pick up the hitting. If we do that I think we can win some of those series.

Cody Ross was the man last night. And congrats to Dan Uggla for being the 2nd baseman to reach hit 100 HR's the fastest (509 games).

Well let's think about the pitching in that bad stretch. It was Johnson, Volstad and 3-5 were either scrubs or a terrible Ricky Nolasco.

I'm happy with the rotation now, I think even if the offense scores 3-4 runs we will at least be in most games, but no question they need to pick it up. Of course we probably won't have another 11-1 run, but we should play some good ball if everyone stays healthy.

Great game by Cody and major congrats to Danny. Also what a game for Hanley. He now leads the league the last few years in the number of 3 hit games.

They should have let him finish the 5th inning. He wasn't pitching POORLY, one hit and an error in the inning. These are the big leagues and he isn't a baby.

Penn = The new Jorge Julio. He needs to be gone soon before he costs us more games. Can't be too disappointed though, we continued to hit well.

Penn is gone to the minors. I really couldn't be happier. Also a great win last night....the bats were quiet but JJ played 9 on 1 and won the game.

After seeing him hit that ball maybe we should find a way to get him into the everyday lineup
