Knowing that FOR ONCE we are going into the season not wondering about who our QB is and how well he will fair. When was the last time you could remember feeling this good about the QB position... The last time I felt this confident in our starting QB was the beginning of the 99 season. Its been downhill basically ever since. Sorry, I just felt the need to remind those who have forgotten about how gruesomely bad our QB position has been and to relish the fact we have a true starting QB and not some 2nd or 3rd string bum we spent a 2nd round pick for.
I honestly thought this was going to be about our site artist But yeah I agree. C-Penny has been an absolute god-send Glad to see this happen to us instead of the cheatriots for a change
I agree... but we didnt have this until week 2 of preseason, so all offseason we were worried about [McClown], or who would be starting, until that point.. This year its just like, "phew... ahhh.."
Well, to be honest I'm a little worried about Chad Pennington. There is a reason he was comeback player of the year twice in the past 3 years. 05 he got hurt, came back and lead the jets to the playoffs in 06. 07 he was hurt, 08 he came back and lead the Fins to the playoffs. He has to prove he can go two years without getting hurt. If he can stay healthy I have no doubt as to his ability. I just have doubts about his durability. Let us pray for that shoulder to be strong.
I don't know if its feeling good or feeling a huge sence of relief since we went into so many seasons with nothing but questions about our quarterback situation. Looking back it almost seems like a bad dream now, so many bad quarterbacks and wasted draft picks. It was like a huge black cloud hung over the Dolphins and nothing could take it away.
i don't know if this helps or not but the only reason he was comeback player "twice" was because the surgeon who performed the operation the first time did a piss poor job(going by reports that i vaguely remember) and he had to have the surgery redone. when healthy he led the jets to the playoffs every yr and led us to one as well due to his injury being fully recovered.
And we did it HOW many times? It's not a question of one mistake. Anyone can go wrong once. But how many times did we pick up some journeyman or backup and bring him in hoping to make him our starter? What was it, for Pete's sake -- a philosophy? Why were all these people unable to figure out for a decade that if the backups and journeymen had been good enough to start, they wouldn't have been available? At least Pennington had been a bona fide starting QB in the NFL. Now, Pennington: No one is going to convince me that our having gotten him was the product of the genius of the Trifecta. The Jets had a brain hemorrhage and cut him loose. We were desperate; didn't have an NFL caliber QB at all, let alone a starter. No one who could run an NFL huddle and execute. Then Pennington, who could run an NFL huddle and execute (no Marino necessary with a sound system), falls into our laps for nothing, and he is picked up by people who know how to use him and is made to fit perfectly into our new offensive philosophy, noodle and all. He steps into the vacuum and the rest is history. That, folks, is just plain dumb luck meeting intelligence. I hope we continue to cash in.
