    I would never jump ship, my love for the Dolphins is very high. However, I would root for him to get busted in half.

    My love for my dog is higher than any friendship I have and I would not trade anybody for my dog.

    I'd like to sign Vick. He should only cost us 6 cartons of cigarettes, a jug of toilet wine, and some tooth paste. :lol:

    To tell you how much I hate that POS, I would rather lose without him then win with him.

    Just talking about that POS really gets my blood boiling

    Vick=Bin Laden IMO

    Do you really Don? I ask in all seriousness for if so it means that since others have been given a second, third, and even fourth chance then it follows that Vick deserves no less.

    Now before any of you who want Vick drawn, quartered, and his privates cut off and served to those same dogs my guess is that those dogs wouldn't want that to happen. BTW I love dogs too and have had and raised them all of my life other than now and while I was in the Navy.

    Vick paid his dues and gets to go home and if someone hires him all well and good. My guess is that right after his first TD his sins will be forgiven by most.

    I really understand about forgiving and forgetting but even though I understand it, I don't always practice it. I just do not want Mike Vick on this team. I love the way this team is going and do not think we need a distraction like him right now.

    Why take up another roster spot on a player that will only be in for a small percentage of plays in a game. We are all speculating that Pat White will fill the role of the Wildcat QB. If something happens to him and he does get injured, we could always have Ronnie Brown fill that role. It's not like he did not do it before.

    IMO his disgusting joy towards the cruel, intentful suffering of so many living creatures does not deserve an "end date" for his own suffering. We're not talking about reformed drug addiction or robbing a liquor store out of survival instinct. Vick was of unthreatened, premeditated, "sound mind" when he created these events for friends to relish in the torture of so many animals.

    IMO, a major disregard for life is a major disregard for life, no matter if it's a dog's or a human's....and I would put Vick in with the Manson family, whose crimes should be punishable by death.

    5 years from now, kids across America will have forgotten about Vick's jail time/fines paid and be left with only one impression- here's a guy who killed and tortured animals for fun and was allowed to play in the NFL again. That's a worse message than repeatedly allowing Pacman back in.

    Vick should become the modern day Promethius, only with Pit Bulls supplanted in this version. ;)

    This is just MHO of course but the Miami Dolphins have not been any less inclined to go after people that were/are less than perfect. Did any of them kill dogs, not that I know of, but if you look at what they did do and also realize that that type of human is also known to start with the mistreatment of animals early on in their life.

    Let me also state I don't want MV on our team but I can also name several others I didn't want that ended up being here because the coach of the month thought he could "Control" him.

    I'm sorry but I don't have degrees of badness, you are either on one side or the other, JMO. Dog killers, wife beaters, child abusers, dope dealers, or whatever I would hope we never had any on our team but sadly every team is no more than a reflection of the country as a whole.

    Pacman was involved in something where a man was crippled for life and has been given repeated chances. Its not worse in my book. Sorry.

    First I'm not a Dolphins fan. I am a proud LIONS fan who just happened to stumble across this forum.

    I think that most of you guys who have that "Holier than Tho" attitude should really consider what will happen if Pat White gets injured. You can try to put Ronnie Brown back there again but odds are it won't work because most teams with a Defensive Coordinator would pretty much know what to expect.
    Not to mention Pat White is going to be contending against Linebackers, and Defensive Ends that were his size while they were in middle school. Do you really think that Pat White can take a hit from Shawn Merriman, or someone of his caliber? Have you seen your schedule?
    * Indianapolis Colts
    * Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    * Pittsburgh Steelers
    * New England Patriots X2
    * New York Jets X2
    * Buffalo Bills X2
    * Jacksonville Jaguars
    * Tennessee Titans
    * Carolina Panthers
    * San Diego Chargers
    If you can name one of those teams that you think Pat White can just run wild on by all means please do. I personally think that you can't win any of these games. You have the worst receiving corps in the league along with the worst Defensive Backs in the league. You should pray that Mike Vick can come in and help your sorry asses. Rather you want to admit it or not we all know that Mike Vick can take a hit. The man payed his debt to society, rather you like it or not he is pretty much your best bet.
    You had maybe one of the easiest schedules last year, and this year you will have one of if not the toughest, and you blindly reject the suggestion that you pick up a player that could help keep your team winning consistently?
    The reality of the matter is that The Dolphins is not a really good team, two years ago you went 1-15, and everybody knows that when you get desperate morals go out the window, isn't that why Ricky Williams is playing again, we got brought back because your running game was struggling right?
    Yeah get off your high horse and open you minds to the possibilities.

    well.. I guess I should welcome you first.. so welcome.

    I must say, your disrespect for our team and fans is a little odd given the state of your own team. We don't need mike vick to win, perhaps your own talent deprived team could use him.. We already have everything we need to shove the wildcat down everyones throat, including yours, why would we want to waste a roster spot on a backup that comes with tons of baggage. The reality of the matter is we are a LOT better than your team and don't need any desparate acts to go forward. How about you win a game or two before you come here and start talking about sorry asses and disrespecting us.

    ...I don't think we need Michael Vick,after drafting White,but it would be foolish not to look into it. I'd sign him if we needed to.Look,I'm not condoning what Mr.Vick did,but the man has paid his debt to society.I know my relatives in Mexico have spent countless nights at **** Fights,it's more a "cultural thing"(like dog fighting),again not condoning,so if Mr.Vick understands that most people find dog fighting cruel and barbaric,not to mention what this has cost him personally,I doubt he'd be any trouble in Miami.Forgive and forget....JMHO

    Thanks for the Welcome...

    Yeah we went 0-16 but we addressed and are addressing our problems in the draft and in free agency. What most people fail to realize is that we've had major problems in the front office, we have major talent. Do you logically think that you are going to come in week in and week out and use the Wildcat on everyone of those teams successfully? Pat White is a smaller guy, and I do admit that he has talent, but you can't expect him to take big hits from NFL sized linebackers. Every team in the AFC East made adjustments and improvements this preseason, and you guys just sat on by hoping to improve with a bunch of rookies. Say what you want about the Lions but if we need help we go out and get it. We'll just see who has the better record at the end of this season.

    Al, you're crazy if you think the Lions will have a better team than the Phins. I'm not gonna say that we'll have a better record, cuase you're right, we have a wicked schedule. However, I think White will be just fine. There are plenty of small receivers, like Welker who take big hits and jump right back up. We don't need Vick. Also, I think that we will run the Wildcat down all those teams throats.

    ricky williams = pot smoker

    mike vick = dog fighter

    i can deal with a little weed.

    also, we have the *toughest* schedule in comparison to last year but if we lose a few more games than we would have won with vick in i'm all for it. i do not blindly reject the suggestion that we pick up a player who can help us win. i reject the suggestion that we pick up mike vick to help us win.

    i opened my eyes to the fact that a person could stoop so low to hurt another sentinent being.

    any team that signs vick is going to get criticism. not because of the player he is but because of the person he (was? is?). the animal rights folks will be going nuts. media will be all over it. i am not like jerry jones in that fact that i believe "any publicity is good publicity". i do not want that kind of coverage around my football team.

    Yes, he was "involved" in doing so, but did Pacman cripple the man on purpose.... and do it over and over again to other people?

    Every creature on earth has only 1 chance to enjoy its life. If you want to downgrade stealing the lives of many dogs b/c they're not "human", then that's your prerogative. You're right.... it is your book. LOL.

    BTY.... congrats on your draft!! You guys did an amazing job of drafting a LT and other Olinemen to help protect young Matty. Passing on Oher at 20? Great job working from the "inside out"!! Crack must be flowing all over Lions country. :lol: Only difference between us.... is after our draft last year, we went on to win 11 games and picked 25th. See ya in the cellar again.... but at least you'll be able to get a LT then. :up:

    How many Olinemen did you draft after passing on one of your #1 options in Jason Smith? hmmm??? Where's the left tackle to keep Stafford off his ***?

    I'll put the number of hits Pat can endure in our offense behind our line against the number of hits Matty will take behind your sieve of a line any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. :wink2:

    Leaving aside the legal and ethical issues about whether or not Mike Vick should ever be allowed back into the NFL and the media hurricane that will envelop any team that signs him.
    I also accept that purely on a physical gift/skill evaluation that Mike Vick would be a premiere player in a wildcat offense.

    The practical case against Michael Vick.

    1) He will be a prime blackmail target of illegal organised gambling. Considering Mr Vick's proven lack of off field discipline and prior involvement in illegal organised gambling this is a massive downside risk and one the club can do little to mitigate unless MV agrees to be chaperoned 24/7 by Dolphin's security 365 days a year.
    2) He will have missed 3 full seasons of football by the time he will be available. In football terms his first pre-season and season will be equivalent to a rookie year as he reaclimatizes himself to the speed and physicality of NFL football. Which means you will have to eat the first year of his contract as a loss leader for year 2 onwards. For a 30+ y.o. QB that is not an investment I'd like to make.
    3) His presence will mean less practice snaps for two 2nd round QBs we have on our roster, which will stunt their growth. Since the aim of investing that many 2nd round picks into QBs is to develop at least one of them into a quality starter by taking Mike Vick on you are going against the long term development QB strategy that's in place.
    4) Is Mike Vick smart enough to absorb both the regular playbook and wildact playbook? Without actually knowing what Atlanta ran it's hard to say but it appeared to me that with Mike Vick at QB they ran one of the most dumbed down offenses this side of Dave Wannstadt. I doubt he has the intellectual capacity to be the triggerman for our regular offense and his involvement in the wildcat.
    5) His motivation when he returns will primarily be about personal validation, proving to the sceptics how wonderful Mike Vick is. There will be an internal, if unconscious, bias for MV to make the decisions that make him look best rather than playing the team oriented percentages. I'd much rather a team oriented QB focused on winning titles and making people around him better, such as Chad Pennington.

    My conclusions therefore.
    1) There are significant doubts as to whether MV would be a better player than other options available to the Dolphins despite MVs undoubted physical gifts.
    2) The downside costs to the 'phins of signing him are real and significant.
    3) The downside potential he brings to this team are arguably as large as the upside potential he brings.

    Therefore even before the pay issues and off field distractions are considered there is no strong case that Mick Vick would be a good fit for the Dolphins.

    There might be other teams where Mick Vick may be a good potential fit.
