Sean Smith 31? I can think of one other corner around Sean Smith size with that number. Antonio Cromartie with the Chargers. Hopefully Sean Smith can be as good if not better than AC.

Hopefully Smith plays more like Brock Marion than Cromartie (I realize Marion was a safety, but a great Dolphin #31 anyhow)

Not quite buying that a guy with 12 INT's in 3 seasons with 2 TD's is vastly overrated. His rookie year is like most any rookie year. His next year he goes off for 10 INT's and their defense was playing great. This past season, the defense was without several key starters and it showed.

I think he could be a little bit...but what star is not?

I think he's one of the fastest players in the NFL.

But I also think he isn't that great in coverage.

IMO he's the most overrated cornerback in the league.

And who were the several key starters on the San Diego defense that were gone? Other than Shawn Merriman.

I'm glad neither of our new CB's took #28.

I believe that jersey number is cursed by Jerry Wilson.

You are right, Wilson was 24 along with Jamar Fletcher and Vestee Jackson...and now Vontae Davis. It would have been cool if they let him keep his #1 from college. The NFL is too anal on numbers other than interior OL numbers which makes sense being limited.

The last DB who wore 28 before now was Ray Hill. Last one who was a starter would be Gene Atkins.

I am going to have to respectfully disagree. He didn't start at CB until 2007 in which he led the league in interceptions. 10 in the regular season and 2 in the playoffs.

In 2008 he only had 2 interceptions, but he was also playing with a broken hip the entire season.

I'm not trying to say he's the greatest CB to every play, but I think saying he is the most overrated CB in the league is a bit unfair.

Thanks for clearing that up. #24 is totally cursed. Jerry Wilson and Jamar Fletcher were 2 of the worst Dolphins in recent memory.

    To each their own.

I really don't buy that the fractured hip was that concerning. There's absolutely no way doctors would have cleared him to play if it were that bad. That comes off as making excuses for his poor play, IMO. Playing an entire season with a "broken hip" is just stupid... Not tough. Stupid.

I realize you want to back your guy because he was a Dolphin, but cmon dude. Hoping he's more like Marion than Cromartie?

    Cromartie > Marion 24/7/365

So Pat is wearing #6? Couldn't talk Carpenter in giving up #5, shouldn't have been that hard, oh well, time to preorder the jersey!

Don McNeal was a notable CB who wore 28 also. At one point he was one of the top CB's in the NFL, at least for a few years.

    Check this out: http://corner.bigblueinteractive.com/index.php?mode=2&thread=322572

People seem to forget there is more to a cornerback then getting INTs... Maybe the reason he gets so many INTs is because QB's are always throwing the ball his way and picking on him. On the other side Nnamdi Asomugha is easily the best CB in the game and never gets thrown on because he is so good, thus not getting a lot of INTs.

I don't think nor have I stated that AC is the best CB in the league, but I don't think he is the most overrated CB. And yes, he didn't have a good season in 2008, but like I said before he was playing with a broken hip. Say what you will about that being an excuse but, im pretty sure a broken hip effects a corner's play.

On a side note I think Nnamdi is one of the best corner's in the league.
