It is funny how contrasting the general opinion of this board is compared to listening to 560 QAM.

Very good TE from a small school here in Jersey. The kid has talent.

Never under estimate Parcells finding Gems from Jersey.

Frankly Im a little suprised people are scratching their heads at this draft. Parcells has never, EVER, drafted names. He drafts guys that he feels fit his teams style and system, regardless of what school they come from.

its not so much about names. its about need. i really am worried about our LB corps going into this year, and the lack of depth at DT especially long term.

and Scout.com thought the Jets were high on him too. maybe we had him graded in the 6th but with all the TEs going we thought we'd grab him now

You gotta remember its a process though. Remember last year when everyone freaked out because we didnt draft a CB or WR? What happens this year, we draft 2 CB's and 2/3 WR's.

and we got lucky our secondary was depleted with injuries as much as it was in 2007. and if anything, we have too many WRs and CBs and not enough Lbs and DL.

on the other hand, this Clemons kid looks like a diamond in the rough:
    Height: 6'0"
    Weight: 208
    College: Clemson
    Conference: ACC
    Hometown: Arcadia, FL
    High School: DeSoto
    View Combine Page >>

    Combine Results:
    40 Yard Dash : 4.41 seconds
    Bench Press : 19.0 reps
    Vertical Jump : 37.5 inches
    Broad Jump : 127.0 inches
    3 Cone Drill : 4.39 seconds
    20 Yard Shuttle : 7.27 seconds
    Overview

Overshadowed throughout his career by teammate Michael Hamlin, Clemons' consistency in coverage might actually make him the safer NFL prospect. A three-year starter for the Tigers who leaves with 323 career tackles, 20 passes broken up and five interceptions, Clemons' production warrants a closer look. If he can prove his speed in workouts, Clemons' could surprise as a second-day defender capable of contributing immediately.

    High School

Two-way star at DeSoto High...Ranked the No. 23 cornerback in the nation by Tom Lemming...Rushed for 1,242 yards on 193 carries...Averaged 6.4 yards per carry and had 11 touchdowns as a senior...No. 39 running back in the nation by Rivals.com...No. 5 running back and a Super Top 75 player by Florida Times-Union...Top-100 player in Florida by Orlando Sentinel...Named to All-Dixie team by SuperPrep...team offensive MVP...DeSoto County Offensive Player-of-the-Year by Port Charlotte Sun...Returned kicks as a senior...Offensive MVP of the South-Central All-Star game...Named first-team running back by Sarasota Herald Tribune...Had 951 rushing yards in 100 carries with eight scores as a junior...Had five interceptions, including two for touchdowns...Averaged over 16 points and 10 rebounds on the hardwood...Ran a 10.52 in the 100m, the fourth-best time in the state...AAA regional champion in the 100m...team MVP as a junior and senior...State qualifier in the 100 and 200m...District champion in the 100m and 200m as a senior...Coached by Gary Morton...Chose Clemson over Michigan State, Pittsburgh, and South Carolina.

to me it's been more about value..something this fo preaches yet pat white to me wasn't very good value at the particular pick..neither was brian hartline and i'm on the edge on turner.

i kinda like the turner pick. he had robiskie playing next to him and a qb who liked to run. if we have henne throwing the ball, hes an asset. even with penny, hell be a good fit for our dink and dunk offense.

Interesting. they say Clemons was 'overshadowed' by Michael Hamlin, Clemson's other Safety, his whole career. and they just went in back to back picks...

Parcell, when he was with the cowboys, drafted bobby carpenter based on his experience with his father with the giants. Sadly, bobby has been a bust so far.

oh don't get me wrong cause i like this guy too as a need and the guy has nothing but potential and is a good character guy but feel we couldve waited a round to get him maybe. i don't know maybe not with the way wr's were going off the board.

yea we did. imo we got good value for our 2 corners and that was about it(pat whites a great athlete but also couldve been had later than we got him). i'm just glad we didn't trade up any to get some of these guys. couldv'e been worse i guess.

I like the Vontae Davis, Sean Smith, and Chris Clemons picks. I think we got good value with these picks and I think they will be able to come in an contribute a lot next year.

I am ok with the Pat White and John Nalbone picks. We did reach a lot to get these guys, but I think Pat White can take the Wild Cat to the next level. Last year I don't know much about Kendal Langford and thought we reached a lot there, but he quickly became one of my favorite picks last year maybe Nalbone can do the same.

I still hate the Brian Hartline pick...

I hate it when people say we reached... No one knows. How do you guys know that someone wasn't going to take White? I'm sure we wouldn't have taken him if we were sure that we could've gotten him later. If you want to say he's not worthy of being drafted that early that's fine, but don't say that we could have just picked him later. That's not how it works. People say Oakland could've waited til the 5th round to draft Mike Mitchell, but it turns out that the Bears where going to take him at #49.
