I know some of you guys don't like the pick but he's a hard worker and a proven winner. He also recognizes the areas he needs to improve in. Have a look: http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/04/25/pat-white-is-ready-for-the-wildcat/
while i do like the pick, i cant help but wonder, if carolina didnt swoop in front of us for everette brown, if he would be a dolphin and not pat white? i know there are mixed feelings about pat, but i think that parcells and co. deserve the benefit of doubt and regardless i think we can all agree this is going to be a exiting season to watch
But why ?? Someone tell me how he was worth the #44 when we have other needs ?? I'm not convinced a slash player is the best option for us at that high spot. Don't count me on the bandwagon, please...
Yeah, 44 seems high for a gadget guy. They *may* be looking at it as him being able to save roster space as a backup WR and HB.
I don't understand the hate. I was praying that the Patsies didn't take him and extatic when we picked him. He's a special player and I think he'll go down as being the steal of the draft.
If the Pats would have taken Pat White just a head of us, most of us would be pissed off. I like Pat White, but I don't know why. I'd prefer a guy bashing a QB's face in over a offensive player, but I'm interested in seeing what White can do.
OK, here's my way thinking... Too much emphasis is being put on "The Wildcat." It's gadgetry. And, I think the more we rely on it, the less effective it will be. Now, think on that for a minute. What game was the Wildcat most effective in last year? Against the Patsies...right? First time we used it, right? Now, how well did it work against Baltimore in the playoffs? JMHO...
The wildcat is not a gadget play. The wildcat is not a gadget play. The wildcat is not a gadget play. The wildcat is not a gadget play. The wildcat is not a gadget play. The wildcat is not a gadget play. The wildcat is not a gadget play. The wildcat is not a gadget play. The wildcat is not a gadget play. The wildcat is not a gadget play. The wildcat is not a gadget play. The wildcat is not a gadget play.
While I don't know anything about this kid, White... I wouldn't be so sure about your comment that Henne is our next defacto starter. Mayock commented that he could see White beating out Chad down the road to become our starter. As I said, really no clue. If it breeds competition, I am all for it. While I am puzzled by the pick myself, if he can add something to the passing game as a receiver, not just the wildcat, while also being our #3 QB, it makes some sense. Could be that they just saw him as the best guy on the board when they picked, value at that slot. No clue, but I will give the Trifecta the benefit of the doubt.
excellent, intelligent pick: 1) will QB the WildCat 2) play the slot @ receiver 3) ready to go return man perfect fit an interesting addition to the QB Stable
There is another way of looking at this pick. We don't know the real reason why he was selected, we don't know if it was strictly for the wildcat, although he would probably be good in it. The pick did suprize and puzzle me but I decided to do a little research on Pat White and what I found sounded very promising. He is a tremendous athelete and has excelled at every level. Most feel he will be converted to a WR comparing him to Antwan Randle El and some feel he could be a very good running back. There are doubters about his being able to play QB at the next level because of his slight build and his average arm but no one doubts his smarts and abilities to adapt. I don't feel like I am being a "homer" or "jumping on the band wagon", but I will reserve my opinion until I see what he presents to the team.
Wrong... Miami has already stated he will compete at QB. After Pennington is gone, Henne & White will compete for the starting job. But right now White will see more QB this season than Henne. Because Pennington is our starting QB as of right now. White will be a big part of the WILDCAT as QB. Miami drafted 2 more WR's, in rounds 3 & 4.
