it was a conversation on the best american rock band; just following the topic at hand. bring up the best european rock band and i've still got them beat.
Lot of great long lived bands. How about The Doors? Edit: I guess long-lived isn't appropriate for their music production, but the stuff they did still rocks!

It was more than just that off of Zeppelin 1. Feel free to google it if you don't believe me. Again, you guys are acting like I am villifying LZ. I LIKE THEM. It is like you guys refuse to see that part. I also called them great on numerous occasions. But the fact remains that they lifted many songs WITHOUT credit from LZ1. Like I said, feel free to look it up. Covering a song and downright lifting it sans credit from others are two different animals all together. I think we can agree there, can we not? Again, it is not about influence. Every artist is influenced by someone else, it is how it works, be it music, writing, painting, etc. We all are influenced. That isn't what I am saying. I also don't fault others for covering other people's music. My favorite musical artists have all covered other music. MOST of them, never got called on the carpet for taking samples, lifting entire song melodies and flat out doing songs, and passing them off as their own and only giving credit a deace or so later once evryone has fought for their legal rights about it. THAT is what makes Led Zeppelin a downgrade on a personal level. Their version of other's people's music is great.
I don't have any real control over that. I do know that as of right now. I would much prefer to stay at home, throw my sobriety out the door and chase the dragon until my heart exploded. The sweet release of death would be wonderful. Mainly because I wouldn't have to go to work anymore. I am so ****ing worn out right now it isn't even funny. And I sign on here to see that Cosmic trying to goad me into yet, another boring argument about music. I can only imagine how sticky his Tesla poster is in his bedroom. Here is hoping the movers lose all his stuff on the way to Florida. Or better yet, perhaps he, himself, will get lost? How come we don't have any :snortingheroinsmileys: ? I'll just borrow from the resident potheads and use a sunglasses smiley instead.
Sorry you're worn out, bro. I can relate-I work all day and pack well into the night. I'm not trying to goad you into an argument, I'm just ribbing you. In fact, I think I explained that later. And for the record, I don't have any musician posters on my wall. I do own a small one of Lemmy that I picked up at a Motorhead show last year, but it hung over my desk at work until I packed it this week. My decor is all Miami Dolphins and deceased relatives. That sounds really morbid, but since all but my sister are deceased, it's all I have left of them. Seriously though-if my stuff gets lost on it's way to my new home, I'm blaming you!
Rough week Marty. Death in the family, funeral, others hospitalized, super busy at work. Doesn't make for a happy atmosphere, to say the least. It would have been worse, but frankly, I am too tired to really even bother with trading witty insults or going down that path. I am sure someone will make a crack about the preceding line, so allow me to take car of it for them. Wow, so you must be tired all the time then right? We can tell. Uh oh Bordersamiseojanus Wolf is in love with Metallica/Green Day/Kobe Bryant/Lakers/ etc. Did I about nail it guys?
I would make a joke about how it's ironic that all my pictures are of deceased Dolphins, but after losing relatives this week, all I can say is that I relate to the pictures. And Motorhead is something we can probably both agree on as being filled with bad assery. And I won't wish all of your stuff getting lost on the way down. Maybe just your wallet.
Sorry to hear about your losses, man. I've been through too many in the last few years to not feel your pain. Here's the big kicker-the woman who took care of my mother in her last days along with my sister and me (we rotated shifts), died Friday. She was a really super nice lady who had been a family friend for many many years. Bad car accident, never recovered, died from her injuries. Her funeral was yesterday, and since I am still in Baltimore until next week, I couldn't go. I sent flowers, and my sister went to represent for us. You just never know. We will definitely agree that Motorhead is super badass-and effing LOUD. Great show-if you ever get the chance, go. I'm strapping my wallet to my leg with duct tape now. Truce?
Bloodfueds can never be a truce. You are the Hatfield to my McCoy. At least until I decide to start a bloodfued with someone else. Until then, we can never be friends and their can never be peace. Sorry, I don't make the rules, I just lie and make some up. As for Lemmy. A good friend of mine called me one time and was audibly in a tizzy. He was sitting at a bar in L.A. and swore that Lemmy was sitting next to him playing video poker. And if you don't know what that is tremendously funny, than I may start a bloodfued with you, thus replacing Cosmic as my arch nemesis.
On an unrelated note: I don't know why, but this song, and video, has been in my head for roughly three months now. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-uyWAe0NhQ"]YouTube - Madness - One Step Beyond[/ame]
Cosmic begat Finsane who doth begat Gish, who begat Aqua4ever04, who begat ckparrothead who begat unluckyluciano who begat the country of Canada.
sorry about the death in the family, borderland sam. also, i listened to that taurus song by spirit and holy ****e. that's all i have to say about that one. i had never heard that before. i'm not saying you're villianifying them i just didn't realize that there was more to it than zeppelin 1. i don't mind but like i said didn't realize.
All the Spirit talk earlier made me go listen to Mechanical World, Fresh Garbage, Natures Way and Taurus. Spirit opened for Led Zep in the before famous days and they never seemed to have any problem with ripoff. I liked Spirit, had Mechanical World and Uncle Jack on a 45 back in the day... wore it out. I listened to this guys version; PSychadiLSniK and found the audio to be particular fine for youtube. His library is also rather interesting, from R&B to Jersey Garage bands. about the led zeppelin thing, so what? Van Halen made their careers off of covering songs that were more popular than their original songs.
So..you coming or not Sam? And I know you have had a rough week, you know my # if you need it, even if its just to drunk dial me.
This was essentially my point to begin with. Again though, Halen gave credit where credit was due. Zeppelin didn't for about a decade. But yes, I agree, their music is great, even if not original. The last thing I want to do is talk on the phone right now. That thing is attached to my ear during business hours. And yes, I am coming. Nothing is refundable so I will be there. Probably in a better mood as well. Just exhausted is all. Being stuck in the mire and failing to see a way out of it can sometimes just where you out is all.
