i love knowing that 24 is non stop and there is always a new episode on monday night. another thing i love about the format is that theres a quick recap and then it gets right into it. other shows have a little exposition to set you up and its 5-10 minutes in before it get going. this show just rolls right along. love it. talk to you guys around 1 or 2 am when i watch it!
Agreed. Should be interesting to see if Tony explains himself this week or we'll have to wait a few more weeks to learn about his true motives. I'm guessing we'll find out at the end of tonight's episode of next week's the latest.
Another good episode. The stuff between Jack and Tony was classic. Interesting that it appears Larry Moss left his wife because of Renee (like they've been hinting about since the first episode). Next week should be good too with Jack meeting up with Jon Vought (I wonder if Jack is going to ask him if George Costanza bought his car back in '94).
wow. i totally felt jack's powerlessness at the end of course the shadowy whatever that controls all appeared tonight lol. tony is just plain evil. not sure i like the way they used him in the beginning, but its all coming together now. so still we are left with the "fact" that jack is going to die soon. they really seemed to have painted the character into a corner. writers are running out of time and believability to have jack survive. im not following that at all. i have a feeling that they will just keep him sick through the end of the season and then give us a bogus explanation and move along with the next season
Completely agree with the Jack stuff. I've said it numerous times to friends that there's no realistic way for him to be of any use or help for the rest of the season (or next) if he's shaking like crazy and starting to forget things and repeating himself. I mean can we really believe that if Jack and Tony were going to get into a fight that Jack would really have a chance with him now? I think we're definitely going to get a lame 'hey that virus was only short term just to scare us' or 'hey we were going around Stackwood's camp and we found the cure' or most likely the first episode of next season a character will say to Jack 'boy I bet you're happy that stem cell thing worked' something like that. I liked the idea of Jack being sick but the writers right now appeared to have screwed themselves with wrapping the plotline along unless Jack just drops dead.
This season is driving me nuts! If they're going to kill off Jack let's get it over with and I can stop watching. I'm done when he's gone.
I was intrigued at the shadow organization turning on Hodges, which made it that more disappointing that the writers are letting him cheat death long enough to set up a final confrontation with Jack. Seems manipulative beyond the plausible -- even in the crazy world of "24."
No way Jack dies. My guess is that they keep giving him temporary treatments and near the final hour Kim changes her mind, comes back, and tells Jack he has a granddaughter. This will prompt Jack to change his mind and when next season starts of course we'll learn that the stem cell treatment worked. This almost guarantees Tony will continue on to next season as well. No way their showdown will be with Jack in this condition.
That's what I think is going to happen too. Just wish it was Janeane Garfalo's character that was exposed to the gas...oh wait, no one would care if her character dies.
Yeah-I'm with you there. That has been the one thing I have disliked about this season. I think it's because I find her so distasteful in everything else, I can't suspend my hatred long enough to like, or even tolerate, her character.
Thats what i think. Shes obviously having second thoughts in the cab and her husband already told her its ok if she doesnt go back to LA yet. So i see her making a u-turn back to FBI HQ. Or Tony has the cure.
It would be nice if the writers could somehow connect The Shadow Group to David Palmer end of Season 2 attack and the Blue Tooth Group in Seasons 5 and 6 because there are way too many questions left unanswered there. And it would be a nice tie into the end of the series.
lol. it would consist of unidentified men talking back and forth for hours about nothing lol sure would be nice to have it all unravel
its possible that he could get it and give it to jack out of guilt and friendship yet still remain bad....or that action ends up getting him killed for real
it wouldn't make any sense since jack knows tony is a trader, and tony knows jack is the best at what he does. Tony knows with jack out of the picture, no one can stop him. I still believe that Emerson is alive and Tony never killed him
true, but there is the "theres still good in him" element at play tony being all evil makes him flat and betrays what the audience has seen from him he can get everything accomplished (at least in terms of this season's plot) and do an act of penance by saving jack's life with an antidote. it could also be a great way for him to die. he is indirectly killing jack...which i dont think he would ever wish to do or in the tradition of over the top villians, he can go crazy and keep jack alive for the sport of the competition lol im just at a loss as to what to do with jack. the writers have a knack for pulling things out of their asses and making something somewhat believable, but i dont see what it can be. they arent even hinting at it which makes finkle and i think they will let him live and avoid the issue next season. who knows
Maybe they hold off Jack's symptoms long enough for him to take the cure from Tony by force. Even if that happens I highly doubt we'll see a final showdown between Jack and Tony this season. Outside of Tony or maybe this shadow organization having a cure I can't think of any believable scenario that keeps Jack alive for next season.
Slow episode, it was a nice change of pace though. I liked how they got Chloe back into it and how they got CTU back so to speak. The stuff with Tony was good and the Jack/Jonas scene was very well done. 4 episodes left.
very slow. but we have seen maybe the best performance ever by sutherland in a single episode jonas cut a deal on the flimsiest of info i thought jack's tirade against the idiot lib could have been spun differently. instead of it showing how jack is losing his mind, invoking palmer's name to prove that what they are doing is right could have been more powerful jack's gonna die! just had a short fantasy of what could happen because im completely out of ideas: the shadow group, tags and bags bauer, uses the cure on him and says, "we need you alive. we've got plans for you." then the season clock runs out and they turn jack into a villian for next year lol season went by fast. probably only 3 weeks though right? im guessing a 2 hour finale
here is what i dont get, people are saying the writers dug themselves into a hole by making jack sick...the way i look at it is how is that possible when they know whats going to happen and how they are going to have it end. They knew what they where doing and i have a feeling it will come to its conclusion soon
Obviously it's the old 'the writers know what they're doing'. But when I say the writers back themselves into a corner its because it's not possible for Jack to save the world this time in his state unless there's a lame 'oh we found a cure for you' type deal, an easy cop out. My point has always been that Jack is in no shape to go on any missions since he's shaking and having memory loss etc. I don't mind Jack being sick and dying that way but I just have a feeling next season of 24 there's going to be a throwaway line how Kim had the stem cell surgery and saved his life and now Jack is fine. If not than there's no way Jack could have a meaningful role in the next season because his condition would be much worse. But I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
you honestly would be ok with jack dying in this way? i would be furious. it is a corner. they could have dragged the kim possibility on for a show or two and not have jack demonstrate any symptoms. but they shut that door almost as quickly as they opened it. the only plausible thing they have left (besides death) is a cure. maybe if they alluded to it or something it would be better. now either he dies or...oh by the way, here's a cure for that nasty bug
Yeah I think I'm ok with Jack dying that way only because it seems like a pretty good death for him. Much better than getting killed by a random bad guy (a Tony/Jack double gun fight double death would be my first choice of Jack's death though). I do think Jack will be cured between the end of this season and beginning of next. Or the old 'hey the virus was only short term to strike fear in the US of what can happen, so Jack you're ok now'.
I don't know why but I didn't see Jonas dying in the episode and I probably should have since it's 24. I kept expecting him to escape somehow and try to get his life back but the car bomb came out of nowhere and now the President's daughter is screwed (which would be the 2nd time today). Overall it was a filler episode but it was still good. I liked seeing 'Angry Jack' go nuts. Prediction, Chloe ends up calling Kim to try to convince her to help Jack.
I know they're setting it up to look like the FD's contract killer went ahead and did the job anyway, but what if ... Aaron took it upon himself to get justice for Olivia (Mrs. Z's theory)? Barring that, the hiller probably got pissed off she didn't follow through, and now will charge her double the original price to keep her involvement quiet. But I'm betting on the first scenario.
Please.....PLEASE can Jack just walk up and snap Jeanine Garafalo's neck, then toss her limp body to the side and get one with his work?
The scene where he yelled at her and told her to shut up last week was great. Even if he did think that the president was David Palmer.
I just can't see Aaron doing that but with this show you never know. My guess is the contract killer is going to use the threat of exposing Olivia to get his money.
