Makes perfect sense. You field offers from all interested parties and then during the draft if a player you covet becomes available, you can call the team to make the trade. Get something for him now because he's out of there at the end of the year anyways.

I would love to see Boldin a Dolphin but would that be smarter than a Nicks or Britt? Don't know?

Unless they are unusually talented, WR's usually take about 3 years to develop into probowlers. I don't know how I would feel if he were to want a HUGE contract. Love to have his talent, but at what cost. Parcells/Ireland love the draft picks.

imo yes....because boldin is a proven commodity britt and nicks could be the next yatil green or mike williams.....you never know with draft picks.

if we are looking at wr at 25...(which i doubt) then i dont see the problem with giving it up for a pro bowler in boldin

I think it's almost a given that Boldin > Nicks or Britt at this stage. But the closer we get to the draft, I doubt it will happen because of the contract Boldin would need, the value the FO places in a stud WR at this stage, and the desire to keep the extra pick it would take besides the first to bring Boldin in. Personally, I'd love to see it happen but I'm not holding my breath.

what i don't see us doing no matter what -- is giving up #25 for him ... equally, i don't see us using the pick on a WR either .... not with this regime

If you look at the time it has taken Ginn to come around, I say if we can do it with in reason, let's get Boldin in here.[IMG]

Agreed, We have Bess, Camrillo and Ginn on the roster, all of them decent WRs but if you add a guy like Boldin to that list...we become a different team on offense.

Would I love to see Q in aqua and orange? Yes, absolutely. Would he improve our entire offense? Yes, I believe he would. Is he worth what I think we'll have to give up to get him, both in the way of draft pick(s) and salary? No, I don't think so.

I say we pass on him unless we can get him at somewhat of a discount (one of our second round picks this year, and maybe a third or fourth rounder next year?), which I just don't see happening.

Personally, I'd much rather we focus on one of the top wideouts in this year's draft. Preferably one Mr. Hakeem Nicks. I believe he is a younger version of Boldin that can be had for less money. Especially if by some miracle we can get him at #44.

    JMHO...

Ouch a first and third hurts a lot. Especially for a franchise that until recently has handed out picks like Donald Trump hands out $20s at a strip club.

Good thing those guys have a strong hand on the wallets up there in the FOs. I don't see it happening from us but some other team might bite.

I'd rather pound it down people's throats as well. It's much more satisfying that way to me.

We know we need a #1 WR

and we have an opportunity to get one, while it may be expensive in picks and $$$. But we have an immediate proven guy, which IMO is worth the added expense.

Additionally having him here can only help the further development of Ginn. If we make this deal, along with Bess and Cam, we are set at WR. We can then turn our attention to the secondary and defense in general. Perhaps even picking up an offensive guy or two along the way.

I know Bill loves picks and I agree with that as we are building a team. But having a proven #1 WR now can only help for the 09 season as well as with the development of Henne.

    Are you kidding?

Trade away our franchise running back for a WR? The idea is to make the team stronger over all, not weaken one area to strengthen another. We are going to be, HAVE TO BE, a power run offense first and foremost. Even if we traded for Bouldin, we still have a young WR corp over all. More over, to allow Henne the time to get his feet wet, perhaps at the start of the 2010 season, we can't be a pass first offense, we MUST be a run first. That takes the pressure off of him. Exactly what the Steelers were able to do with Ben, he has 2 Super Bowls ALREADY!

I was afraid to mention that trade offer for fear of the backlash from the board....but I would do that trade as well.

A very good deal for both sides imo.

You guys have shined up ur homer glasses. 2 reasons I do this

    1. Boldin is arguably top 5 WR and Ronnie is not top 5
    2. Ronnie is a Free Agent next year so he can gp for nothing after only 16 more games

    Darren McFadden

Ryan Torain (who before he was hurt Shanahan said he could be the best back he has coached and he had TD

Would I take all of these rookies over Brown last year? no I wouldn't but would I have Boldin and any of these guys, that answer is yes

If you don't believe that Ronnie is a top 5 RB and that RB's are a dime a dozen, why would Arizona want him when they could get a #1 and a #3? That reasoning makes no sense.

Ronnie is a very good back, the FO has seen that and complimented him on his game, there is little chance that they would consider trading him for a WR, especially seeing that we're trying to build a dominant running game. Just because his contract is up at the end of the year that doesn't mean that the FO has no desire to bring him back. If anything I think that Ricky is the odd man out because of his age and past history, the FO might very well draft his replacement this year.

IMO I don't see much of a chance of Parcells gambling his rebuilding plans on an aging Ricky staying clean/motivated and the uncertainty of a rookie back. The Dolphins don't need a #1 WR, they just need the players that they do have to continue to develop, that's what rebuilding is all about. It's not about trading away draft picks or young players for a Top 5 guy, that isn't Parcells' MO.

I'm not sure Zona could get a 1 and 3

If I'm Zona I don't make that trade for Ronnie

We will have to pay Ronnie 5-6 mill a year where we can get a good back in the 2nd round for less than half the price

And most likely half the production. You take a big chance when moving an established and productive player like Ronnie to roll the dice on a rookie, I don't see Parcells making that sort of move, not when RB is an important part of this offense. The only way Ronnie isn't in Miami next year is if he's asking for ridiculous money, and there hasn't been any indication that he is. If we decided to move on we could always tag him and trade him, we're not under the gun to get something in return for him before the season starts.
