Its not over yet, still two more yes votes til its a complete victory. A no from either one screws up the whole thing. Spence-Jones has such power today.....hopefully some way the Marlins found a way to grease her palms, as we know that is the only way anything happens in this town.
The 1st vote was for the stadium plan, the 2nd vote is to approve the city use of funds, and the 3rd to approve the contracts for the company to build the stadium. They have to be all "yeses" or the thing folds.
Actually the next two votes are for is a bid waiver for a private contractor to work around the facility, and another vote to erect parking facilities. Then the major vote has passed.....this is a relief, now Monday the county has to do the same......PLEASE LET IT HAPPEN !
Are you kidding me? No wonder this is taking forever, they're spreading each component of the stadium out into individual votes. This should all be in one package.
2nd vote on the NO-BID contract passes 4-1 !!!! They take a 2nd vote and its 5-1 !!!! On to the county ! Monday is the biggest day in the young Marlins franchise, even bigger than beating the Indians and the Yankee's in the World Series.
Great news. Sounds like we're on our way, finally. Also, the longer the Yankees stay out of the playoffs the better for the sport of baseball. Not necessarily MLB, just the sport.
Nolasco and pen NO-NO the Tigers 2-0 !!!! Nolasco throws 7 no-no innings and the pen (Meyer and Nuñez) follows up with 2 no-hit ininngs to combine for the 1st Spring Training no-hitter in recent memory. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090322&content_id=4046044&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=fla

Get the hell out of the football stadium baby the MIAMI DOLPHINS have a football field!! You're happy for the marlins I'm happy for the phins we all win. No more dirt! I'm sure this is beneficial to the marlins as well and they need 'just a baseball field' too.
The Marlins need a roof, not really "just a baseball field." But having their own home is a great thing. Here's hoping the designs come through. And enough with the infield dirt crap, it never stopped the visiting teams from beating the Fins.
Why don't you blame that idiot Crater face for that. Your fabulous former Miami Dolphin owner is the main reason the Marlins have been in the crappy situation for so long.
His refusal to put up a single $ for a Broward site (anyone remember Blockbuster Park ????) killed his chances. He could have had his park in Pembroke Pines or Sawgrass had he just put in $ 40 or $ 50 million, money he would have easily made back when he sold the team.
No corn rows allowed? If there was ever such a thing as "culturally racist" here's your ****ing definition.... I am taking Hanley's side on this one. Whatever outrage he has against the organization I'll support. Posted via Mobile Device
Seems like a really stupid thing to risk pissing off your best player over. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/bi...elves-in-a-hairy-situation-wit?urn=mlb,151033 Come West son
This guy was pretty talented and while he wasnt impressive in his first big league action, the talent is there. Definitely not thank God.
Well it looks like Bonifacio has locked up the third base job and with Cantu at first and Helms backing up corners, there just isnt room for him. Plus he's not good.
He's a great minor league guy, but just can't seem to hit major league pitching. He needed to be super-great defensively, and just isn't anywhere near that.
City of Miami Planning Session Apr 1st, 2009 - Talking about the stadium - very very interesting. http://miami.granicus.com/ASX.php?publish_id=3&sn=miami.granicus.com
bonifacio.......amazing start.....i hope he keeps it up.....our entire lineup is ****ing scary!!!! maybin 8th is awesome.....i love this team so much!!!!!!! the next 161 will be exciting!
I still question hitting Maybin 8th. If Maybin starts hitting like crazy why keep him in the 8th spot where he would get only 4 AB instead of hitting him 5th where he is more likely to get a 5th AB.
I hate Maybin in the 8-hole. He's already prone to striking out and has trouble with breaking stuff; why bat him in front of the pitcher?
Maybin will bat second tonight against the lefty Olsen. BTW - I was at the game yesterday and got Hermida's homerun ball. Here's the video of me ducking like a little girl and then picking it up after it hit the floor beside me. I'm the guy in the white jersey with the black Marlins cap on backwards. Link
