I believe that the trifecta is looking for a QB to fit the wildcat. IMO the ideal person would be a bigger Tebow type, a Ronnie Brown who could throw. The other thing is that this guy would not be a starter. We use the wc about 10% of the time. Now I don't know how they would feel about Vick's baggage, but I'm pretty sure they don't want to pay their wc QB starter's money. There have been several articles stating that Vick expects and the creditor's agreement is based upon Vick making $10 million/yr. To my mind that ends the speculation right there.

I enjoy waking up everyday to know a Miami sportswriter will have an article with the words "Could" "May" or "Possibly" in the title. This isn't journalism anymore - makes me sick.

I was going to reply that dogs are neither innocent or guilty of anything. They just go about their life being dogs. But after viewing that picture, I have to reevaluate. That young pup is GUILTY of something!

Sure, why not, if he looks like he's cleaned his act up. It's difficult to understate what he would do for the Wildcat. He's an amazing runner, left-handed to boot, and he wouldn't cost a whole lot.

His crime has been blown out of proportion. Was it cruel? Absolutely, and he deserved his punishment. Does he deserve being blacklisted from the league, in addition to that? No.

Ultimately, these are animals, not people, and the reality is that there are similar cruelties that occur both naturally, and in slaughterhouses.

The ironic thing is here is the amount of UM Ray Lewis fan boys here.

Vick already ran the wildcat while he was in Atlanta, whether Jim Mora wanted him to or not. LOL.

I don't want to see him as a Dolphin. I wouldn't be able to handle all the negative attention it would bring to our team. It doesn't sound like something our regime would be interested in.

Doubtful! With his past problems, I cant see Bill bringing him in. While of course he would add a really interesting ripple to the wildcat should he come here, if he still has that blazing speed. But it won't be to play QB, if anything would be our #3 QB.

We know he can run, but can he catch? Having him line up, with his speed as a WR would be interesting, we could then potentially run the WC even with Penny under center, thus hiding it better.

While I don't think it would happen, if we got him for nothing more the vet mins, hell bring him into camp.

If this were to happen, Vick would be #3 QB and if he has hands to catch, perhaps see him lining up at WR, deep on the chart or perhaps even kick/put returns if he still has that speed and elusiveness.

Vick tortured dogs for fun. Completely different than what goes on in slaughterhouses. And what has he done to make you think he's "cleaned up his act"? Recite apologies written by his lawyers?

He's an evil, detestable human being.

Ps: I have no love for Ray Lewis.

I suggest you read into such things if you think that.

Uh, he basically had his career destroyed and lost a tremendous amount of money in a huge rush of public hatred? Even if he does not feel true moral contrition for what he did, he's unlikely to do such things again.

Seriously, what kind of methods of expressing serious contrition does he have?

Really? There's tons of people engaged in dogfighting, cockfighting, etc. worldwide. Are they the same?

That's cool, but there are plenty of people here who do.

I think that he will probably want too much money for the Phins to consider signing him.

I also think it likely that we will be drafting our #3 QB this year and getting rid of Beck

I certainly hope we don't get Vick. Irregardless if you try to justify or explain his actions, he broke the law and tried to conceal or cover up his involvement. Not only was he involved in the dogfighting he was also an organizer and promoter of the events. It was very cruel and inhumane the way they killed the injured animals or dogs that wouldn't fight.

That's is true. The only minor difference is Vick did what he did for the shear "fun" of it. A lion killing a wildebeest is a brutal thing, but he's doing it survive. Further, it isn't just dog fighting, but the handful of dogs that he and his cohorts killed in creatively evil ways, just for kicks.

    Do most criminals not repeat?

What level of forgiveness, should we feel for him? What he did wasn't a one time event nor was it an accident nor was it a moment of weakness. What he did was a systematic and sustained torturing of animals for entertainment only. Torturing for fun is pretty damn evil. Most of us have yet to forgive Wanny and all he did was suck at coaching.

Torturing an animal for nothing more than fun is evil. I'm not sure how it can be justified to be anything other than that.

Shouldn't there be somethings more important than a game?

No, there are plenty of examples of animals killing other animals for reasons other than survival.

I don't know, you tell me what the statistics on recidivism rates among
star athletes who have gone to jail and lost millions over dog fighting operations are?

Your forgiveness is irrelevant, I'm just claiming people are making a much bigger deal out of his crimes than is reasonable.

As evil? Cruel, yeah, sure. Evil is hyperbolic, to an extreme degree, and you are ultimately condemning wide swathes of both contemporary and historic human culture as evil.

You would like to think that, but it's ultimately an artifact of ignorance. You've almost certainly eaten abused animals, barring vegetarianism or strict dietary ethics.

No? Where did I say that? I used an example of a lion doing a specific thing specifically for survival.

Well, the surprise is, Vick didn't do this one time, he did it many, and he did knowing full well what the consequences were.

Either its an issue that we are making to big a deal over it OR our forgiveness doesn't matter. Can't have that one both ways.

No more so than cruel, forgiveness, making a big deal, condemning, etc. Its all hyperbole, yet the fact remains he injured and killed animals for nothing more than his own personal enjoyment. You may call that a "calculator" if you wish, but it doesn't change the fact that I many others consider it evil. I understand perfectly well what my words mean. I understand i could be classifying people from your or my family as evil, by doing so. And yet, I feel perfectly comfortable and satisfied saying those things are evil regardless of who it may offend or define.

Evil or not, I'm not sure how you consider how well someone can play football to be more important than illegal and torturous actions.

After seeing what is done in a slaughterhouse there is no argument. What people do in a slaughterhouse makes me sick beyond belief. There are hundreds of thousands that go thru there while Vick can only kill so many. I am not saying Vick is right cause that aggravates me, But what people do in slaughterhouses makes me sick.

He isn't arguing if animals should be eaten, or even slaughtered to be eaten, its the treatment up until that point. You clearly don't know much about the issues with factory farming, I'd encourage you to watch a video or two about them.

I've seen the footage and its disgusting.

However, there is a difference between killing an animal for fun and killing an animal to eat it.

Also, I value the life of a dog over the life of a cow or chicken or fish. I just do. It might be hypocritical, but that's how I feel based on my interactions with those creatures.

Did I miss something...has Michael Vick already been reinstated? Last I heard Goodell hadn't ruled one way or the other. And, with the commissioner's reputation being what it is, it's not a given he will be. At least not anytime soon. Keep in mind, that's a PR nightmare for the league in as much as (or even more than) a given team. So, let's not jump to conclusions. This was all based on someone's speculation on a blog. Not a very credible news report.

As for Vick, the football player that is, I think he's one of the most overrated players to ever play the game. Particularly as a QB. Perfect example of a million dollar arm (and legs) and a ten cent head. Sure he can throw the ball a country mile. And, sure he can run like the wind. But, does he know how to read defenses? Does he know how to side step or move up in the pocket to buy more time in order to find an open receiver? Or, is his first (and only) instinct to simply tuck 'n run? Moreover, can he be a leader both on the field and in the locker room? If you think so, just look at how Atlanta did both with and without him.

As for Vick, the convicted felon, I have nothing but complete disdain and disgust for him. He is a subhuman being, with no morals, and no redeeming qualities. He's a sick SOB that deserved a far harsher sentence than what he got. If I'm supposed to feel sorry for him because he lost millions of dollars, well...I don't! How many dogs did he torture, maim and/or kill? How many did he abuse, neglect and mistreat? And, for what? To make money? To look and feel important with his posse? His own personal amusement? I mean...WTF???

Frankly, I think he should be banned from the league forever. But, I'm old school. Fact is I'm sure he'll get a second chance eventually. Maybe even this upcoming season. Just as long as it's not the Dolphins!

If he were added to the Dolphins roster, I might think about joining the Gapper in finding a new team. I am serious, that would really disgust me.

You obviously have no idea what I was talking about.

Exactly and I can give people links to a video if they dare watch it.

I understand the difference between killing for fun and killing for food. However alot of slaughter houses toture animals and even tho they will be food they should not be treated like that. Its not when they are killed its there entire lives from birth to death that they are totured. Like I said it makes me really sick to even think of some of the things I have seen from slaughter house.

I try to value the life of all of life, But that is a whole new subject. I fact is most of us KNOW we don't want Michael Vick anywhere near the Miami Dolphins.

Ireland wasn’t so diplomatic regarding disgraced and imprisoned quarterback Michael Vick, even though the fleet-footed QB would be the perfect fit for the Wildcat.
“I’m not really interested in going after Michael,” Ireland said.
