We have a joke thread. A picture thread. A motivational poster thread. Even a thread just to talk. Why not a riddle thread? I'll go first. What five letter word is a common sign on a door. Remove the first letter a you have a word that means sign. Remove the first letter of that word and you have a newword that is a common sign on a door.
The Postmaster General was given a letter no one could figure out where to send. He looked at it for a minute and guessed correctly......the letter said only....... Wood John Massachusetts Figure out the Full name, and what city it goes to in Massachusetts
I love this thread b/c i love riddles. I'm sure someone's already answered this but the answer is WOMEN OMEN MEN
I forget the details on this one but i know the important facts. 3 guys were charged 30 dollars for something. The clerk realized he over charged them b/c it was suppose to be 9 dollars a piece. The clerk gave them back a dollar a piece and kept 2 for him self. so the 3 guys paid 9 dollars a piece which is 27 dollars, the clerk kept 2 dollars, which adds up to 29 dollars. what happen to the missing dollar?
here's the actual riddle. Three guys have a total of 30 dollars amongst themselves (10 dollars each). They went to a hotel to get a room. The total charge for the night was 25 dollars. They paid the clerk 30 dollars in which he would owe them change of 5 dollars. The hotel manager decided to split the 5 dollars change with one dollar bills: three dollars to each of the guys and a two dollar tip to the clerk. So that means each of the guys paid 9 dollars, because they each gave 10 dollars and got 1 in return. Therefore 10 -1 = 9, right? So this is the layout: Each guy paid 10 dollars. [10 x 3 = 30] They each received 1 dollar in return for change. [10 - 1 = 9. EACH] The clerk received 2 dollars for a tip. Now, the tricky part... (Keep in mind that 3 dollars were given to each guy and 2 to the clerk. That's 3 + 2 = 5.) 9 x 3 = 27 27 + 2 = 29 Where's the other dollar?
The $2 should not be added to the $27 because it came from the initial money paid. $30 paid. $5 returned, leaving $25 paid. $3 of the returned money is given to the guys. The other $2 goes to the clerk. ROOM COST = $25 TIP = $2 RETURNED MONEY = $3 (ROOM COST + TIP) = PAID = $27 PAID + RETURNED = TOTAL 27 + 3 = 30 Or, you can look at it like this: Guy #1 pays $8 for the room, and $1 tip Guy #2 pays $8 for the room , and $1 tip Guy #3 pays $9 for the room, and no tip.
that still doesn't explan it. they each paid 10 and got back 1 a piece. the clerk kept 2. it all adds up to 29, not 30.
i was never told the answer b/c its said to be unsolvable. but i have a good explanation if you want it. but i don't want to ruin it for everyone.
this is what i believe is the real answer. the room cost 25 dollars. so they each would of had to pay 8.3333333333 a piece. 8.333333333 times 3 equals 25. they were given back a dollar a piece (3 dollars) so now we're up to 28 dollars and the clerk was tipped 2 dollars. now we're at 30.
I've got one for you: How did Mark legally marry three women in Michigan, without divorcing any of them, becoming legally separated, or any of them dying? Spoiler No answer here for you. But if you vote for Finascious D in the April PhinFools Tournament, you shall be rewarded
thats pretty much exactly what i said. IMO its a stupid riddle. When the riddle itself is based around a careless math error, thats not really a puzzle of any kind.
this one's easy since i'm a reverend who has married other women myself. Mark is the minister that married them.
a man was found hanging by a rope on a 30 foot high ceiling. The Police didn't find anything else in the room. They didn't know if it was a suicide or a murder b/c they had no idea how someone could hang them self 30 feet high without anything else in the room with them. the floor had a drain in it but the room was completely empty. How did this happen?
