I don't care what anyone says, but i'm excited about this guy being healthy. He's a tough guy. He played the whole game with an excruciating foot injury. The doctors were amazed that he was able to play the whole game with the injury he had. The bottom line is that when every one was healthy he was the best man for the job. it's nice to know that we still went 11-5 without someone that earned the starting guard spot at the beginning of the year.

Our olne should be a nice tight knit group come training camp, their all getting healthy at the same time, They have the oppurtunity to bond this offseason and decide to make a difference..

Jake, Justin, Jake, Donald, Vernon....if they come together like they should be doing right now in the offseason, they should be a real real good unit. With Ronnie and Ricky runnin behind that...daaaaaaaam.

We could use a depth type Running Back, don't forget last year was Ronnie's first in all 16 games, and RW hasn't gotten any younger.

We could use a Peyton Hillis type Fb, a runner who can carry and catch if ronnie or rickey go down this year, Polite did a great job last year.

But we all know our 09 mantra "this is a brand new year"..Polite might not be our FB/3rd rb this season.

Quinn Johnson would be perfect...a diverse fullback that plays fast, excellent hands. great player.

I like the idea of adding " firepower" in a big package....James casey and Quinn Johnson, real strong offensive weapons.

    Agree completely.

Cobbs, much like Roth and to some extent Y-Bell were really unherealded hero's this last year.

Bell was fortunately offered the contract they gave him. Roth very quietly made a translation from DE to OLB, and was a key to freeing up J-Peezy to do his thing.
Cobbs was a weapon nobody game planned for and was very solid.

I think RB is a spot we are comfortably set at. I can see us perhaps taking somebody in 5-7th rounds or as an UDFA just for practice squad.

ANY other RB we pick up and keep on the Active roster had better be a Special Teams MONSTER or it wont happen IMO.

We are 'set' at RB for this year, assuming the injury bug doesn't hit with Brown, Williams and Cobb...We probably will see another couple of FBs in to give Mr. 3rd & Short some competition...

However, I expect we'll see them draft a guy or two anyway as this is both RB and RW will be FAs next year....I don't know what RW will be thinking (whether or not he wants to continue playing) or whether the Trio wants to re-sign him at his age, but Brown will be looking for the big bucks and it's likely not to come from the Trio...Cobb is not an every-down back, so we will have some work to do there... Just don't be too surprised if we don't draft a young running back...

You know it gets a little ridiculous when we constantly assume that so and so won't re-sign simply because the Tuna runs things. We re-signed three of our top four free agents this year so what's the deal? I keep hearing it in half the threads I look into.

If we're not gonna resign Ronnie, we need to go ahead and trade him for a 2nd and a player. I hope we resign him though. he's always played hard for us.

Ricky and Ronnie are both due next year. Ronnie almost certainly will want big money. ? is will the Sparanos give it to him/?/ I think it depends on several factors. Of course the most obvious is our record. If we are 10-6 or 11-5 then he probably gets his coin. If we are 7-9, 8-8 because our schedule is tough and there are still 1 or 2 more years of rebuilding left then he may be better off traded for more picks and or guys to fill other holes with. I'm just worried that our inner 3 guys didn't play a full season last year. two of them have an injury history. One of them just started theirs.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out...we could but the tag on him and resign Ricky. This would of course be my preference, but, we do need to start thinking about a youngster to replace Ricky at some point in the near future. Not saying Ricky is washed up just starting to get up in years...I think he'll be 34 or 35 next year

yea but how long do you think we can do that for. There is gonna come a point when were gonna have to pay the guy what he's worth. Previous owners are gone and He has stayed clean. He's giving back in my opinion. He owed us 8 million and played for peanuts the last 2 years so he's due.

Plus it cost's a lot of money to farm hemp so he's gotta get some in the bank for his retirement....................lol:hi5:

I thought he signed a new deal before the start of the season. There was a lot of talk about the past money he owed the dolphins. Remember?

yeah he redid his contract and they paid him a little more. i'm not sure about the details but i remember it happening. i believe it was before the season or maybe the beginning of the season. it was around the time all the hype was on ricky b/c of the way he was playing in practice, but then ronnie ended up showing him up in the season. maybe someone can dig up the details on ricky's contract.
