i'm just wondering if and i have no idea ,this is hypothetical if the fo wants to try merling at the nose. he is about ratliff's size. maybe start him on 3rd downs this and see if he can anchor and get some pressure in passing situations. this is also assuming the signing of tony mcdaniel is for a 5 technique. now if we draft a nt i don't want brace especially in the 1st 2 rds. myron pryor is a name to keep an eye on, he's from kentucky and the consensus was from the sec o-linemen was he was very hard to block and some said he was the hardest. what do you guys think?
I can't see Merling at NT because he's not a run stuffer who can command double teams. He's only in for passing downs. At NT a few names have been thrown around for the draft. Ron Brace-Boston College, Chris Baker-Hampton, Terrance Taylor-Michigan, Roy Miller-Texas and Terrance Knighton-Temple.
Merling is listed any where from 270 to 290 Lbs and that seems to be a tad light for a NT. Wasn't Merling a speed rusher in college?
Dorrell Scott is the guy I am looking at as a future NT. 6'4" 310 lbs. with the frame to add more weight and he ran a sub 5 second 40 at the combine. Very strong player and a nice team leader. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/dorell-scott?id=79641
