really the first i have seen of Suicide is in the last couple weeks. thought it looked like Daniel's build. so that was what they did with Kazarian after he "walked away."

If the WWE has flair fight today, which i dont think will happen, then they just ruined a WM moment, and took away from that match big time...I think something will happen before the match

Agreed. But seriously who is Jericho going to face at WM? The rumor is he's going to face Snuka, Piper and Steamboat which would be absolutely dumb and lame. Hopefully it's not true and they can get him in a good match. Of course either way Jericho is going to lose because the WWE is too wrapped up pushing Orton down our throats.

EDIT: Looks like it's going to happen.... terrible. Just dumb.

WM card is not looking all that great imo...the only match im looking forward too is Taker-HBK and Randy Orton-HHH, everything else i can care less, especially Cena-Big Show-Edge, unless, Christan wins MITB and cashes it in against Edge, but i doubt that would happen.

what the hell is the matter with wrestling anymore it's got 8,000 different shows.

i used to watch it back when it was 3 networks, wwf, wcw and ecw.

now there's a half a million things going on and it's so

Why? You don't think a 300 pound Piper, a deadbeat Snuka and old Steamboat will get in the ring against Jericho? Seriously though I love Piper and Steamboat but they're old and can't work a match in the biggest event of the year. Snuka, I was never a fan of. The guy is completely washed up and Jericho was right when he said the fans don't care about him at all.

You're right JT, WM is going to suck this year. The only interesting match is Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels. I know you said you're looking forward to Triple H/Orton but I'm not, we've seen that match a bunch of times already. I'm telling you if the WWE was smart they would have ran a Jericho/Triple H match instead that would have actually drew people to watch it.

yeah i was arguing for a HHH/jericho match at work today. i hope TNA gets bigger, so vince has to actually change things up.

having said that, i saw TNA this weekend and they're running "win a night with ODB" or something like that. anyways, she told some guy he has to take her out to a fine restaurant like "mickey d's" and then she motioned to her crotch and said "mickey deez nuts." it's a shame i don't watch more TNA.

Yeh its about his wife getting kidnapped and he has to rescue her. How awesome of an idea is that? I mean he's NEVER done that in a movie before....:shifty:

But he has to go 12 Rounds this time! Last time he was a marine so it doesn't count. This time it's personal. And the main bad guy is a criminal mastermind seeking revenge! Seriously I could see the writer of this movie basically grabbing the script of The Marine and it took from about 2 hours and 2 bottles of white out to write this movie.

i do agree with you the HHH-Orton Match had been way over done, but im glad its not HHH-Cena 3, WrestleMania 25 is looking like any other plain PPV, with the exception of the Taker-HBK match, nothing special about it at all, and my only hope was the Jericho Storyline was going to lead to something surprising, but like you said i dont want to see three washed up wrestlers in the ring on the biggest stage of them all, making a fool of themselves. Like you i love Piper, his mic skills are amazing, but his ring skills now are terrible. Put Jericho in a meaningful match. Jericho-Mysterio Match would have been amazing, but nope, its Jericho carrying 3 HOF in a boring match.

It doesn't seem like much of a rumor now, since Carlito and Primo is going to face Miz and Morrison in a Tag Team Championship unification match.

It kinda ticks me off, because if they were going to do down that route, then should have tried to unite all the titles at Wrestlemania.

well the problem would have been Randy Orton winning the Rumble, the title match would have been a triple threat. I know they have a triple threat but i dont like them. I like it better 1 on 1...Makes more sense, but each year there seems to be at least one triple threat for the title. I like the idea of one brand but not at WM,

Well I agree that should have happened. I'm sure the WWE is thinking, 'hey it's WM we get a huge buyrate as it is, why not do the unification match at another PPV to try and get a few extra buys'.

If I were to guess I'd say they'd do it at Summer Slam maybe and run a Cena/Triple H program. Then again you'd probably have to add the ECW Champion to it too and I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Edge or Randy Orton won the title to set up a 3 way.

Not sure how many of you tuned in, but the debut of ROH on HDNet was this evening at 8:00 p.m. I thought I'd give my thoughts on the debut, borrowing from my "Quick Hits" format in the process.

    What I Liked

    • Focus on the Action: ROH has always taken pride in being a "wrestling" promotion first and an "entertainment" promotion second, and it was nice to see them continue this trend on tonight's debut. HDNet is perfect for ROH, the minimal commercial breaks lend the show more of a documentary feel, which is a format I feel untapped in the wrestling industry. Combine that with ROH's focus on in-ring action, and you've got a winning recipe.
    • Production Values: From a visual standpoint the graphics and camera work were done well. I was concerned that the show might look second rate, and I was happy to be incorrect. ROH smartly used a couple of easy tricks to help differentiate themselves.
    • Differentiating Themselves: The recap of the birth of the promotion, including clips of famous wrestlers in the ROH ring, was a brief but necessary video package. Some of the moves I hadn't seen before - some sick stuff. Well produced video that gave you an idea of ROH in roughly 60 seconds. The backstage promo really hasn't been as much in the WWE, so it was nice to see it return in ROH, albeit in a window form. Using brief facts during the wrestler's ring introductions is a smart move to help familiarize the audience with wrestlers who aren't as well known at a national level. I really liked the overhead camera angle, as far as I know it's not used in either WWE or TNA, and it helps to differentiate the product a little bit.
    What I Didn't Like

    • Focus on the Freaks: It was a curious booking decision to see so many pop-goth wrestlers on the show. I'll just call them the Hot Topic Dudes from here on out. It's only an hour long show, so to see Delirious, Sam Callahan and Jimmy Jacobs all on the show seemed a bit like overkill to me. The Pop-Goth gimmick also doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, so not surprisingly I found all 3 of these guys pretty boring.
    • Exposing the Business: One of the drawbacks of using up tight camera angles, and extreme close ups, is that if you're working "loose" (meaning not getting all that close with your kicks, punches, etc) they can appear really fake when viewed up close. The ROH wrestlers will need to adapt their style to be a bit more reigned in if they want to maintain believability for the viewers at home.
    • Announcers: Not surprising, the announcers stunk for the most part. Still, they're better than either Tony Shiavone, or for you newbies, Don West. I think Scott Hudson would be perfect for this promotion, but I have no idea if he's still even doing announcing.

    Match of the Night

    • Tyler Black vs. Jimmy Jacobs: I geeked out a little bit at getting a chance to finally watch Brent Albright, and geeked out even more when he pulled out a half-nelson suplex, which is one of my personal favorites, but the match of the night had to be the main event. The Black Jacobs match wasn't special, I would say, but just a nice TV main event given roughly 20 minutes to tell a story. Solid effort from these guys, but the match drug a little bit during the middle portion. Solid ending sequence though, with Black countering the End Times choke hold into a bridge pin for the win.

    Summary

Overall, a decent debut for ROH. I liked some of the unique features that they've brought forth, but I'm hoping that they consider showcasing guys who didn't buy their wardrobe at Hot Topic. As an alternative to what's currently being presented by WWE and TNA, I liked it; I just hope it doesn't devolve into Wrestling Society X.

i am about 200 pages into Bret Hart's book. i am very into it, but do not think it is for the casual fan. i have made it to the point where British Bulldog The Dynamite Kid (Bret's brother-in-lawTom Billington) career ending back issues are surfacing, and Bret and Neidhart are hitting their stride as the Hart Foundation.

    here is my take so far (trying to keep spoilers to a minimum);

seems to be an honest assessment of his life. he admits several things that do not paint him in a very good light.

good road stories, and behind the scenes stuff.

lots of stories involving characters he came across in the early years; from Japanese lengends like Baba, Inoki, and Tiger Mask, to Andre the Giant, Bad News Allen, Dr. D. (David Schultz), a young Hulk Hogan, and so on.

he also tells it like it is about who did steroids, and hard drugs.

gives his take on his own family politics, inside and outside the squared circle, all matter of factly. some of his 11 siblings are interesting characters, to say the least. and some are not portrayed well at all.

he paints his parents in very sympathetic terms. Stu and his mom both, at least in the first 200 pages, seem to be decent folks. regardless of Stu's penchant for torturing wannabe wrestlers in "the Dungeon."

he goes into great detail about his marriage and up and down relationship with ex-wife and mother of his kids, Julie.

as a lifelong fan (mark?), what i am finding most interesting is how Hart's career timeline falls directly in line with the business undergoing MASSIVE change from the multi-territory days to today's current WWE machine, and his take on the evolution of the industry.

and he has done a good job of weaving that into his own biography.

by way of comparison; i really liked Ric Flair's biography, for the road stories and peek behind the curtain, and there is alot of that in this book too. but i think Hart admits to more of his own shortcomings than Flair did. and this book is much more in depth, and having grown up in the business, as well as having been a wrestler and booker for his dad's promotion at a relatively young age, he has a deeper understanding and historical perspective than i have read in other books.

Bret's book was great but as I said in this thread already I found that he really threw his family (minus Owen, Stu and Helen) under the bus. And I found once he starts talking about Shawn Michaels and Montreal he gets a little awkward/uncomfortable reading just because I feel as though he's not as truthful. I feel Bret comes off looking badly there.

Bret overall did write the best book followed by an extremely close 2nd to Foley's 1st book.

Yeah thanks for reminding me of that. The part where Bret thinks that Owen might have been murdered is insane. I totally forgot about that part. But yes it's sad once the book gets to Shawn and Montreal because that's where the book turns into a bitterfest and it's hard to take Bret seriously with some of the things he says.

I've said it a million times in this thread but the heat on Jericho right now is unreal. Why he isn't the center of the company right now with the World Championship is beyond me. Instead the WWE is blowing a huge buyrate on Randy Orton and The Big Show.

just came to the first reference of Michaels, and i could not help but note that the very first thing he says about HBK is that when he first met him, neither he nor Jannetty had any muscle on them at all.

being that i was highly sympathetic to Hart at the time of the screw job, i am curious whether i will have a different take than y'all do as i read further. i'll post more as i get thru this very long book.

i also agree that Foley's first book ranks right at or near the top as well.

i don't really care to ever read the puff books of guys like Austin, Rock, or Batista, etc.

although i fully intend to read Jericho's book one day. and if they ever put out a book on Undertaker that breaks character, i would read that as one well.

could not agree more...caught Y2J's beatdown of Flair at the opening of the show tonite, but that is it til i get to the Tivo tomorrow...

still haven't heard what the plan is for Wrestlemania, though i really hope Flair does not tarnish last year by wrestling again.

while i was watching that beatdown though, i could not help but think that maybe they're leading up to Reid Flair's debut after Wrestlemania, and throwing him straight into a program with Y2J, who would be perfect to help "make" Reid, and guide him along.

    just a thought...

I was always on the fence with the whole screwjob thing but I sided more with Shawn/Vince/WWE than Bret but I was sympathetic towards Bret, just didn't think he was right. But after reading the book Bret really soured on me, especially when he takes shots at Shawn due to the ratings yet fails to mention that Shawn was champion during a down year in the WWF and also had to compete with WCW/nWo angle and never gives Shawn credit in 1997 for helping (along with Stone Cold and The Rock) with bringing the WWF back and beat WCW. Bret also takes a few shots at Triple H that really come out of nowhere and are just weird.

I also think that Bret was a bit overrated in his mind. Yes he was a mega star but he's not in the same level as Hogan and Flair, both who he rips. I think it kills him that the WWF was huge once he left.

It's going to be Jericho vs. Piper, Snuka and Steamboat at WM. Which I'm willing to bet Jericho ends up jobbing to them with help from Mickey Rouke and Flair. In my opinion Jericho should pretty much dominate the whole match and end up winning in non-screwy fashion.

Of course if I was running the WWE, I'd then have Jericho sneak in and win the MiTB match and challenge and beat Triple H at the end of the show for the World Title and run a program between the two that ends at Summer Slam.

I did. I think it was because the first PPV I ever got was Summer Slam '91 when he had that awesome match vs. Mr. Perfect and won the IC title. He was definitely the best wrestler the WWF had back then until Shawn Michaels really started to come out of his shell.

and in addition to that, when Vince began eating up the territories in the late 80's, Vince gave Stu Hart a verbal agreement to buy him out for $250,000 and give him a five percent cut of future show revenues that WWF ran in Stampede territory.

this is what brought Bret Hart to WWE and took Stampede's biggest star at the time.

but Vince never lived up to that agreement, and Stu didn't tell Bret about it or complain to Vince either, fearing Vince would fire Bret.

so he has considerable reason to be remain bitter above and beyond the screw job.

like him or hate him, he was one of the best wrestlers in the business. Bret was like Flair in that he could help "make" anyone they were trying to build up, by having good matches with anyone and get them over.

his matches were believable and he had great psychology to his matches too, and was good at playing both the heel and the baby face.
