The interior of the Dolphins’ offensive line, arguably the team’s weakest area in 2008, is anything but settled leading up to the draft. We hear that the club intends to stage legitimate position battles at all three spots, especially considering there are injury concerns at guard. OLG Justin Smiley is the only player who would seem to have a firm grasp on his position, but his health is a concern.

Yeah Health is always a huge concern. Justin Smiley and Jake Grove have had a problem staying healthy and thats not good for us. However I think when the Battles are done I think you see Smiley at RG and Satele at LG

What about Donald Thomas? Do you think he fits anywhere in the starting lineup. I thought from all the reports last year and the way the preseason was playing out that he was definitely one of our guards.

He's probably still the favorite, but that doesn't mean he's a sure thing. I think the front office has an idea about how they would like it to shake out, but I also think they want to see who really wants it.

I still have lasting thoughts of Satele getting pushed around by Wilfork and Washington. I don't know why I can't shake them. I think Thomas wins that job easily.

If Donald Thomas is healthy he'll win the RG easily. If Grove and Smiley stay healthy they'll be the C and LG. MUCH improved for starters and depth! I'm excited to see what our run-game turns into next year, it's gonna be exciting!

I hear ya. He's the only guy of the top 4 that seems to have consistent ability to play 16 games a season.

Let me throw my own hat into that as well.
His short comings: lack of strength and technique, can be addressed through conditioning and coaching. In spite of everything, he's still managed to play well enough to start for the only two years he's been in the league.
If he can't win either starting position, he's still going to be an important back up.
We absolutely need to keep this guy, IMO.

Well they have a lot of money tied up into the offensive line so I don't see them taking one too early. BUT I'd love to see them draft a big ol boy who can play right or left for some good competition!!

With the battles that will take place and if each guy is healthy, its one position that i love having multiple options at, whoever wins out or is healthy, this FO is making sure we field a good line everygame, all season.

Having too many potential starters, is a good problem to have.
