What's an adventurous act you've done?

i was the "friend" in opies story.......

 

How about that time we went cliff diving in Uruguay and those local militants showed up, thinking we were relatives of some government official? That was crazy!

I was in prison for about 12 hours..so I didn't have enough time to organize.

i've been river rafting. but nothing too crazy insane.

 

November 2006.

It was Friday night at like 2am (so I guess Saturday morning) and I called one of my Jet fan friend buddies and said "Lets go to New England for the game Sunday". Ten minutes later a Patriot fan from the board we hadn't met called me (I had PM'd him my phone # like a year ago asking to get me Jets/Pats tickets if he could, never thought I'd hear from him) and said he had two upper level, 50 yard line seats. Perfect timing. So Saturday around noon we left with no hotel plans or anything and just went.

We got a room at the ****tiest hotel right across the street basically from Gillette and by the time we got in and went to bed at about 3:30, 4, we slept on top of the sheets it was that scary. But anyways, that Sat night before that we went out to Fenway Park to a bar called Game On. I was not of age (my friend was) but still got served anyway and we ended up meeting up with 3 people and ended up in the V.I.P. Lounge, good times.

Next morning its pooring rain, the tailgate was pretty neat, met up with the guy from the board who to this day is one of our very good friends nowand the Jets won 17-14 in the rain.

Great weekend.

 

It was me, two friends of mine...3 girls we knew for a while and 2 of their female friends.

Rafting is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

I dont remember the date, but I'm pretty sure it was September of 2002. I was on call, and my pager went off at around 2:30AM.

Myself, a flight corpsman, and the two pilots show up at the Helicopter around 2:55AM. I was there 1st (living 5 minutes from the base). I am turn qualified, so I can actually get in and start the helicopter's engines. I get the bird turning and then pass controls to the pilots when they arrive.

We take off a little after 3AM. On SAR calls, you don't brief... You pretty much flight brief and plan as you take off. We find out that it's a med-evac (pretty much picking up a hurt or sick person and taking them to the hospital -- Boring right?) for a very hurt civilian on an Argentinian oil tanker a good 200 miles off the coast.

The trip felt like forever, but we finally see the ship on the horizon. It is freaking colossal! This was the biggest ship I'd ever seen... And I've been to several Aircraft Carriers. I felt good about it, as we've landed on civilian ships before. Sucked for us when we realized that the thing was loaded with large pipes, super structures, and wires. The civilian helo pad was nowhere near big enough for our beast to land on (UH-3H Seaking baby!!). To add to it, the ship was at a cross wind (meaning the wind was hitter he on the side). Helicopters must always hover with their nose in the wind. and these swells were no joke.

It's the middle of the night, so the pilots have no horizon to use as reference points. So the crew chief (me) has to give them directional calls. Simple command to go up, down, left, right short distances like 2-10 feet. At the same time we're about 120 feet above the deck of the tanker. It's the closest we could get with the ship's swaying. The hoist is only 150 feet in our aircraft. So while giving directional commands, I lower my poor corpsman to the deck to recovery the broken woman. I almost lowered him straight off the edge.

Once he gets her into the litter, we pull her in (while still giving directional commands and manning the hoist). She had a fractured skull. They say she fell in the shower... Riiiiiight. We saved her life. Got home at 6AM.

Screw you guys, you had to be there.

I am sure you'd feel it was a great weekend even if you had lost, but IMHO when your team wins its 100x better and makes it that much more worth it, so that was cool.

 

I bet by the end of that you felt you had worked a 48 hour day.

 

South Carolina/Georgia game, must have been 2000, Lou Holtz's 2nd year at Carolina. Carolina coming off a 21 game losing streak had beaten New Mexico State or some garbage school the week before to break it and we were facing Georgia who was ranked I believe 6th or 8th at the time.

Well, pregame starts and Quincy Carter is overthrowing receivers, a prelude of the 5 interceptions to come. I caught one of them in the first row of the student section and stuffed it under my shirt real quick before security saw me. So all game they just thought I was a real fat kid. Well, Carolina was up 20-9 with about a minute to go and the whole student section was chanting "goalpost, goalpost". You know I wasnt missing that. I pull the football out and hand it to one of my female friends who wasnt going to be charging the field and the security guard just laughs. As time expires we ran on the field and me and 4 of my friends were on the goalposts faster then Quincy Carter could throw the ball to the wrong team. Anyway, AOL sports, CNN, ESPN, all had our pictures up for a few hours.

Table danced with 3 hot girls once...what was so adventurous? Uh the fact we were all drunk and they were topless. That was a fun night.

Ran down to the Knicks locker room entrance once with Madison Square Garden security chasing me and a friend. Charles Oakley bailed us out from getting arrested for trespassing

There's a lot more but these were the shorter stories I could tell...I guess most of adventurous stuff is really spontaneous idiocracy. But man it was fun and thats really all that mattered.

Running white water rapids on a Jet Ski.It was the most fun I have ever had until I ran out of gas and the jet ski and myself became flotsam .

A camper pulled me out and the Jet Ski which was damaged but repairable.

 

Dude, I was way more scared for you and where this story was going than I was for Opie's story.

 

Highschool:

My friends and I drank probably 3-4 nights a week in highschool. We had one set spot which was a somewhat secluded park in a quiet neighborhood (houses about 20 ft away on either side and across the street, undeveloped land behind the park, only one paved entrance/exit). We used to go to this park religiously during all seasons to sit around and drink. Never had any problems. I'm from NY so that can get very interesting in winter months, but we do save $ on not having to buy ice.

So we head down there one night in February. The group currently consists of me, 3 of my buddies, and one of their gfs. We get there at around 10 and start drinking. We're all about 6-7 beers in and feeling alright. My buddy bets me that I can't drink an MGD tall can in one shot. I do, and it was delicious. Now, we all had talked about what we would ever do if the cops showed up, various escape ideas, etc.

Sure enough, about 2 mins after I drink that MGD can, 3 state trooper cruisers come flying into the entrance with their lights on. I'm thinking, "I'm 17 and those are cops, I'm gone." Nobody even bothers to say "o ****", we just all instantly take off and start running.

The group breaks up and I end up running towards the undeveloped land (I really had no idea wtf was back there until then), along with 2 of my buddies. My other buddy and his gf, I'll get too later.

So, us three take off towards that area and almost 15ft in, my one friend does a face-plant straight into the snow/mud. I dragged him (mostly on his face) for a few feet before I can finally get him on his feet again, and we continue running. I was thinking this undeveloped land would just be empty fields and whatnot, wrong. We ran through 3 miles of snow, broken fences, pools with water up to our chests, and over train tracks. That damn MGD can gave me the most unimaginable fishbowl ever.

The best part, I lose one of my boots about a half a mile in and proceeded to run on all these rocks and ice for the rest of the way. These cops were unreal. There were about 4-5 of them w/at least 2 dogs on our asses for a few miles, before they finally gave up chasing. We finally stopped after about 45 minutes and kept calling our other friends to drive by the park and check if they were still there. These piggys waited 2 more hours to see if we would eventually come out. **** that, I was more willing to get hypothermia than arrested at that point.


So finally the pigs leave and we get to our car and call our other buddy (no idea what happened to him at the time). We find out he and his gf got away and we meet up with them at her house. I'm driving in my boxers and 1 shoe bc thats all I have left that isn't completely drenched.

To finish the story, we all got away and nobody got in trouble. lol One of the best parts was that my buddy with the gf, as soon as the cops pulled up, he blows by her and starts running (ala George Costanza) and leaves her lol. He ran under a nearby porch and just hid there since all the cops followed me and the other two.

His gf fell over into a bush and the cops never found her lol.

I never did THAT (orgy) but I have done a lot of crazy crap in my time...some legal and some not so legal...

ALL before I got married...

Once I got married it all got 'boring' really quick and life's been a straight line ever since.

...and I am not talking about sexual stuff but rather everything in general...

 

Joined the AF 2 weeks after high school...That was 25 years ago and I'm still overseas.
Although, somehow I'm a civilian working for the Navy now. (scratches head)
