If the QB ends up being someone other than Beck then it doesn't matter since they'll just be another place holder until we draft another franchise QB.

That said, my only concern is that we don't trade draft picks for someone.

If Trent Green can't play anymore look for us to get a vet QB from somewhere. We will have a seasoned vet starting the season at QB. Beck may get another shot at it some time down the road unless he really has a hot hand in the off season. I can't see us winning that many I'm guessing around 6 maybe 8 if we overachieve or get great QB play.

The starting QB is not on the team at this moment. Green and Lemon will be let go. Ireland will bring in a veteran free agent and a QB will be drafted on the first day. Beck will start training camp at the number 2 spot behind the veteran FA. He will have till the beginning of the preseason to prove himself, and if he doesn't he'll likely be cut.
As for wins...God knows, it's way too early to say. I would say it's a safe bet we won't break .500.

History has not been kind to young QBs drafted by the previous coach when a new coach takes charge. Especially when they haven't yet proven themselves.
I am not saying he WILL definitely be cut, just that he has this coming offseason to prove himself and if he doesn't, he'll be gone.

I'm not sure what the point would be in bringing in a veteran QB. Outside of Derek Anderson, there's nothing that really stands out. I'd much rather keep what we have and draft a developmental prospect at QB, just in case Beck doesn't work out.

I just don't think it's going to happen. Green will likely retire and Lemon hasn't shown the new coaches/GM any reason to keep him around.

    Is your name Cam?:huh1:

    Just kidding.

With the number of holes to fill and the few options on free agency, there's a big chance we will re-sign him, but in order to clear the house, and as John Beck needs more pressure to improve, with all the respect that Cleo Lemon deserves, he must let him go. He couldn't win the starting position at any other team in the NFL, so his worth is a good reserve, and we need something else.:confused2:

    Agree!!!

That's a reason we must lurk in free agency and draft for QBs. We need a veteran to teach John Beck and another young QB as safety net just in case he fails. That said, Billy Volek or Rex Grossman should fit better than Cleo Lemon, and I'm pretty sure there will be a QB drafted by Sparano, perhaps during 3rd round (our 4th pick unless we can trade down).
