ESPN: Jason Taylor released by Redskins

Per the ESPN ticker. The Redskins have cut Jason Taylor after failing to restructure his deal.

You know the question at hand. Yay, or nay. Discuss.

    Hahahaha.

Thanks for the 2nd round pick Washington.

Maybe this is why we are releasing Holliday? We obviously have confidence in our young starters. I'm thinking we bring back JT in Holliday's spot as a situational pass rusher.

He's definitely an improvement over Charlie Anderson. I'd still prefer to draft a younglin though.

If he is willing to be a situational pass rusher then he is welcome. Otherwise, he's not a guy who should be targeted IMO.

You mean Mr. Hold on Kickoff returns. Of course he's an upgrade, but is he worth not adding a younger player to the defense. Depends on how Parcells and Co. feel about him. Can't see him coming back to Miami for more than a one-day contract when he retires due to the way things turned sour last offseason.

He would burn every bridge and ruin whatever positive reputation he had as a Miami Dolphin.

Don't worry, he probably shares Zach Thomas' sentiments.

If not, we can count on Zach to smack him upside the head to knock some sense into him.

i say 100% yes. Love to have him back for next season, hopefully have a shot at winning it all and then him retiring. Or maybe he'll just retire here.

Or he may not. One thing that you can not put past Jason Taylor is that he's stated his love for Brady. I could absolutely see him finishing out his career there, if our management was to pass on him.

I mean with Vrabel being traded and all there is clearly an opening and well I wouldn't put it past Belichick.

Jason Taylor got cut cause he's done, toast, kaput.

If the Pats want to waste a roster spot on another aging LB/DE, god bless 'em.

I love JT, but its time for him to move to Hollywood and star in stupid kids movies alongside the Rock and Ice Cube and Robin Williams. His effective playing days are over.

Well that 2nd round pick looks all the more sweeter now doesn't it.

Also I doubt him coming back as Parcells didn't like him a year ago why would he now?

Possibly Denver, they have been replacing their whole D this week and could use a rusher to go along with a new secondary.

Interesting... you know someone had to go after the big contract they gave to haynesworth.

As for JT coming back here... I can see it happening, but i doubt it. Although we really could use a boost to our pass rush, if JT's ankle, or foot, or whatever it was that was hurt last year, is healthy, I'd welcome him back for the right price. I just dont see that happening.

I also don't see him going to New England. I can see the pats bringing in Peppers before JT

Also, how strange of a situation is this... both JT and ZT leave us last year to go to contenders... while we make the playoffs, their teams fail to, and now both have been cut and are presently unemployed. What a weird twist of events...

Jason Taylor left. Zach Thomas waas cut.

I would not mind either Jason Taylor or Zach Thomas coming back. I dont see it happening enless they sign a 1 day contract.

Why did I not know ZT is out of a job - I'm way out of the loop, I guess. I love them both and hope they retire as Miami Dolphins. I hope Zach retires before he gets hurt more from concussions.

I was onboard with the idea of bringing him back until I heard that on ESPN. I'm now completely uninterested. He's clearly at the Brett Favre stage in his career, where he just wants to suit up for Sundays. We need guys dedicated and setting an example.

Jason left as one of the teams leading tacklers on an otherwise horrible team and he left because he didn't want to go through his third rebuilding episode. He realized shortly after leaving and being thrown into a scheme that he was not suited, that he made the wrong decision to press for a release.

I, for one, would welcome him back to add a new dimension to our pass rush.

Agreed with you Celt. However, only as a situational pass rusher.

I am thankful for all the hard work and years he played in Miami but he burnt this bridge down. The Tuna has a great memory and now Tylor is pulling the same crap in Washington as he did in Miami. He claims he doesn't want to participate in off season workouts because he wants to spend family time. But wait didn't have the same family when didn't want to participate in off season workouts in Miami because he wanted to dance with the starts?
Sorry Jason this ship has set sail.

We really need an impact pass rusher and our dream scenario would be JT to come back. I want himback but in all reality our fantasies will be crushed because the trifecta wont want him. We need him because Peezy is to inconsistent and we dont have another threat as a pass rusher. Just the name of facing Jason Taylor would help us tremendously and would help not only Peezy, but also the younger guys. Lets bring him back.
