I have only played the KZ2 demo and wasn't overly impressed. Pretty? Yes. But nothing I wanted to go play as soon as I could. There's been a huge amount of buzz surrounding KZ2 since it's release (mixed reviews from what I can tell).

Good old Microsoft couldn't sit quietly (who does these days?). They issued a congrats to Sony and the KZ2 team... And then promised something great. kind of a backhanded compliment.

    http://xbox360.qj.net/Microsoft-we-have-something-better-than-Killzone-2/pg/49/aid/129223

Apparently, they have some super hush-hush project in the making.

well. i wasnt necessarily talking about reviews... review tallies of Halo puts in in the high nine range also... Doesnt mean it's great. The press are the worst at accepting hype. Hell read the KZ2 thread on this board. Hit or miss if people like it.

Yes, and XBOX fanboys are reserved when it comes to their system of choice.

We all defend the system we like, none of us do it anymore then the next guy.

So are Microsoft sackriders, especially since they have a lot of time to make arguments with their 360s always being sent in for repairs. :shifty:

BTW the next time MS releases an actual Halo game maybe Sony and Nintendo should send them a jealous little email promising a phantom title that will crush them.

I must also add of course all games are hit or miss but the great games are more hit than miss and that seems to be the case with Killzone 2. Personally I did not like the demo at all and have no desire to buy the game but the majority of people that have played it say its great. Therefore although the game may not be great from what I've experienced but taking into account what makes a game great (popular appeal) it appears that it is.

I can tell you from an insider perspective that most reviewers don't necessarily play the games, see the movies or read the books they just take their "opinions" from other sites/people that have. So what you're saying isn't so far fetched. Saves time and is much easier

Not that I've played KZ2 or anything, just saying.

Agreed...pretty amazing that even with a horrible defect that is well known by everyone, the 360 is STILL outselling the ps3.

Believe it or not guys... I wasn't trying to ignite a console war... Microsoft said something ballsy, and I was just posting it because they claim that Gears2 is not the peak of the 360's power.

Well any company that thinks people are are going to lay down $400 for a gaming system will be outsold by a system that is around $200. Sony got too cocky this generation and now they are paying for it.

Also I'll take shots at any of these companies but MS's cockiness gets under my skin a bit for a company who overall puts out substandard products.

Because we know what amazingly smart consumers the 18-30 crowd are. They're buying hype and a handful of titles they want to play. I'm sure they enjoy their Halo when their console is actually working. More power to them. It doesnt' mean it's a better console. It's not. It just has a larger game library.

They wanted to do too much. They could have made a machine exactly like the Xbox 360, made it black, named it playstation 3, released it in 2005 and would have destroyed the 360 on the Playstation brand name alone. But hype goes a long way and they let Xbox get a large head of steam while they tried to revolutionize everything. Now they have their work cut out for them.

I'll buy a 360 when they get dirt cheap. I can't pay 300+ for a console that will break. No game is worth that to me. Buying a product with such a high likelihood of breaking just seems foolish. The warranties won't last forever. We're now a little over three years into the 360s life cycle. Will Microsoft continue extending warranties? What if longtime 360 owners continue having problems? I don't think it's safe to say this problem is over.

Now im not a hardcore gammer by any means, I enjoy playing games as much as the next dude. And maybe im just ******ed, but wouldn't you want to have a larger selection to play from?

and as far as console wars that flair up all the times.. The only think I know is The controler of the 360 feels a **** load better in my hands, and I have yet to think, ah damn, I can't play that game. sure there are some popular games that might be ps3 only, but none that caught my attention.

and again.. im just an average guy.... not hardcore gamer in anyway.

Edit: Stand corrected God of war 3 will probably make me think that..

    God of War.

Oh now I see the edit.

They both have a large selection. Personally I don't play enough to need the extras that the 360 brings. If it didn't break so much I probably would have already bought one. Being that it does I'm going to wait to get one a bit cheaper.

i disagree...i think the ps3 has sold on hype for the most part...especially in the beginning touting "only true hd 1080p games" and "zomg cell power" ...

it's a great media machine...i love it for blu rays and streaming media to my tv

You keep going on about how they break all the time... I had a release xbox360, it broke, red lights... sent it in out of warranty on a friday and got it back on the following Tuesday after a long weekend - no charge. I upgraded to an elite and have had no problems - at all. My PS3's blu-ray drive just died, no warning, no errors displayed, just stopped working. No extended warranty to fix the common problem just had to suck it up. Now I'm not dissing PS3 cause I like it but to imply they're faultless is just wrong :tongue2:

this is true. The ps3 has common hardware failures too. The difference is microsoft has sold way more units, and to be honest, people just play their 360s wayyy more than people play their ps3s. Software sales are a clear indication of this.

I know four people with PS3s and not a single one of them have had a problem. I know three coworkers who have replaced 360s. One did not get it replaced by warranty. [It wasn't RROD, warranty didn't cover it] I know that Microsoft lost millions of dollars fixing consoles and was forced to extend their warranty significantly. I know the number of consoles and the percentage of owners that have had to replace 360s is obscene and much, MUCH higher than with PS3s. The fact that you are all happy that your 360 has only broke once speaks volumes. I have never replaced a playstation and I've been playing them for 8 years. I took my PS2 to Baghdad and it didn't go out. I'm not saying they are faultless but the odds are absolutely in the favor of the PS3 not having major problems. Heavily.

What a copout. Do you work for Microsoft? They made a piece of equipment on a large scale that was faulty. Much more so than their competitors. You are honestly claiming you know how much PS3 owners use their consoles b/c of how many games they buy? Surely you're kidding.

He didn't get called out just someone pointed out that Killzone 2 did not get mixed reviews but were just about all positive. I made the same mistake a week or so ago when I said Fallout 3 rated lower on the PS3 and stood corrected. You have to get your facts straight before posting in here.

Well if you want to put it that way then every person I know that has a 360 hasn't had their 360 break down on them at all - I seem to have been the only sucker. I'm just saying in my experience PS3 isn't any better. If I wasn't dumb enough at the time to pay extra to the game store for an extended warranty I'd be stuffed. I remember saying at the time "knowing Sony I'll probably need it" - yes I've had bad experiences

And no I wasn't "happy" to have my 360 break down on me (especially when I forgot my hotmail id and password and couldn't retrieve my account/gamertag) my point was that Microsoft knew there was a common problem and countered it. There's no doubt in my mind Sony is aware of their faulty blu-ray drives but they've done nothing about it.

The fact that they both only have 1 year warranties speaks volumes for what even the creators thought of their life spans  They just don't make them like they used to. My original NES still works, never had a problem with that

just look at how many copies littlebigplanet, metal gear solid, resistance, and socom have sold. They don't even come close to touching the amount of units Halo 3 alone has sold. That says it all about how may people are playing the ps3. Now there are many people using it as a blu ray player, sure. But, a lot like the wii, the attach rate for the system is severely down. People have movies for it, but they clearly do not buy many games. Metal Gear would have sold well over 3 million on the 360 if it were an exclusive. On the ps3, it barely sold 1 million.

I was having a discussion about this with my cousin (who has developed games for both systems at this point in his career) and he said "well, think about it, the average person uses their 360 more than any other console ever made at this point." and he's right. there are several million people playing call of duty and halo 3 on xbox live, still, everyday, for hours at a time. No system was built to be running for as long the 360 runs. This will lead to overheating, which is the problem. The 360s 'faulty' tech probably has something to do with Microsoft underestimating how well xbox live would take off. Part of the reason 360s die so often is because people are playing them into the ground.

If i am a fan, it's of Nintendo. Mainly cause the Wii in every regard was a financial risk in every way, and after the gamecube failed to gain a large audience, i thought Nintendo was done. But they still had the balls to do it, so it's nice to see them be rewarded for being different while the other two were just worried about how powerful their systems were. (or, bigger **** syndrome)

And this thread is even more proof of that. Killzone 2 is a great looking game, but it plays like many other games we've already played before. So what does Microsoft do? they tell us they're going to make an even better looking game. Me, personally, i don't care which one looks better, i just want a game that's fun. (not saying killzone isn't or any other game, but Microsoft and Sony should be pumping how much fun their games are to play, not to look at)

How was it a risk in every way when Nintendo made money on every unit sold?
