Rumour: Dolphins Close To A Deal With Kevin Burnett

Burnett is a good player when healthy, I believe that on of the reason why Dallas let him go is that he had injury problems since he came to the NFL. Not major thing, but enough to be a concern.

 

Burnett had 7 knee surgeries since he was in College, to a point that last year he did contemplate retirement.
While I like Burnett a lot and I think hes got a lot of talent and I would like to have him with the Dolphins, but the fact that hes looking to be paid like a starter, make me a little concern about hes durability.

 

Didn't we have a DL named Burnett not that long ago? What was his 1st name? Rob? I can't remember.

 

Yes we did, Rob Burnett, I believe we was with the Dolphins in 02-03....I think was #90

 

Nice size and a decent player but there should be better options at either Cb, Lb, or Wr there as well.

 

I agree there are NT prospect in the 3rd round and we can get impact players in teh second.

 

Okay so any news about Kevin Burnett coming to Miami??

 

We probably won't have to worry about whether we'll sign Burnett or not. He is now in Oakland, according to reports, and Crazy Al will probably offer him a 7 yr/50 mil contract, with 20 mil guaranteed.

Hi Jaj, good to see you as always. I just posted there a minute ago. There is also a long Grove thread in Club Level and I more or less shot my wad there, then came over here to the main forum to see what some other opinions were of this move.

 

Always good to see you too my friend. I plan on finally re-signing to join the club level again very soon. I'd like to get my fix again on the draft (it's about 70% there).

What's the general consensus there? Moderate upgrade if he stays healthy?

 

I'd say that's pretty close. The durability is the main concern. I'd say the majority feel he fits our offense better if he can stay on the field.
