It's pointless to specualte on a QB this year since a) we will not have a serious opportunity to trade down and b) even if we do we won't be taking a QB.
As well, Parcells likes to draft big bodies in the early rounds. He's been out-ruled on several occaisions with other teams where he's wanted a lineman and was forced into taking a specialty player. It happened in Dallas when he wanted to take Kevin Williams and it took convincing by Jones to take Terrence Newman instead. With Tuna calling all the shots now you can guarantee if there's a player Parcells is intent on taking, we'll be taking him regarldess of what Ireland says. It's the reason Parcells came here in the first place. That's not to say Parcells is above taking a QB early, but Miami is, once again, saddled with a high draft pick during a weak year. Dorsey will end up being a 'nice' player for some team, just not an impact player, and unfortunately we'll most likely be forced into taking him.
Thanks NorFlafin. OT, but Drew Mormino was the 9th best center prospect, and he had almost the exact same 40yd dash time 5.23 or so...hmmmm
But who is better than him? It is a weak draft, but who would be better to take than Dorsey, or what team could they trade down with and still get value to impact right away? I think Dorsey can be better than "ok" anyway.
McFadden would be a better value pick, but considering our needs and Parcells draft day MO, it's not going to happen. That said, Dorsey would be the most logical pick. I'm not saying he won't be a productive player for us, but he's not worth #1 overall, nor the money that he'll get for being #1 overall. The only scenarion I could possibly see in regards to us being able to trade down is if we somehow manage to ship Ronnie for some picks, convince some other team that we have every intention of villing the void with McFadden, then striking a deal to move out of that slot. Again, though, you'd have to be the stupidest GM in the league if you thought Parcells had any intention of taking a back that high. Even with the Cowboys 2 picks, the odds of them sending them to us are nil considering there's probably going to be some animosity for the way we've looted there staff, and even if there weren't our asking price would be more than their 2 firsts. On top of that, what would the Cowboys possibly gain with McFadden that they don't already have with Barber?
Wheres the pic of the guy beating a dead horse. Get over it, they wont be taking a QB with the first pick.
Well Adamprez, if someone breaks into Dolphins HQ on Draft Day and takes Tuna and Ireland hostage and calls in a "Matt Ryan QB Boston College" pick...I think the police will know where to start looking.....
Flacco should still be on the board in the 3rd round....if we decide to draft a QB. There probably won't be anything but crumbs available, and then in 2009, Mike Vick could be out of jail so you know everyone is going to speculate about bringing him in.
