Per Marvez http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9267562/Dolphins-reach-deal-with-free-agent-safety-Wilson Looks like Bell is outtie? Wilson's a strong safety.
wow, that catches me by surprise, especially when reading things last night that a deal with Bell was just around the corner. Looks like he's out of the picture now. Thats it, im not sleeping anymore so I can stay on top of this stuff for the next few days!
I don't think that the big three are sitting on their hands. So much for everybody saying Tuna would be making his first deal at the stroke of midnight Friday. IMO Wilson is a pretty good pickup.
There were a ton of people who wanted us to sign Gibril after last season, the Raiders just threw a mound of money at him and we couldn't get it done. I'm glad to have him here in Miami.
Hollly Smokes!!!! Are you ****ing Kidding me? I personally hope we can STILL keep Y-Bell on the roster as well. I will say this, our Defensive Backfield INSTANTLY got better with this news.
Guys Wilson is Younger and Better than Bell alot healthier too, but here is where it gets interesting. Everybody thinks that this signing nulifies the Bell signing, but you are very wrong. What this signing does is upgrade at FS. Truth is that the FS position has evolved with teams getting bigger now a days. Adrian Wilson, Ken Hamlin and LEonhard are all SS in todays game playing FS. So just cause we signed Wilson this does not mean Bell wont sign.
Gibril was a FS with the Giants, and moved to SS in Oakland, so it's entirely possible he moves back.
i thought Adrian Wilson played SS for Arizona. Isn't Antrel Rolle their FS? EDIT: http://www.nfl.com/teams/arizonacardinals/depthchart?team=ARI
I think the staff has faith in Bell, and this was my initial thought when reading the thread title. Woah...Bell(i believe he'll get resigned) and Wilson(and hopefully J. Brown) and we haven't even reached the draft yet.
Wilson upgrades the position. A guy that can actually come down with some INT's. Ideally we resign all three and be deep. Just all depends on where they see Wilson playing. Certainly would seem to give the Dolphins an upper hand now in negotiations.
Damn! That came out of nowhere. I really wanted him after last season but it didn't happen. Good player, I just hope being in Oakland didn't screw him up.
I didn't realize till I was writing the story that Wilson was indeed a free safety at NYG. He and Bell together would be a pretty formidable, athletic group, though Bell doesn't give you anything in the way of INT's. Hill has gotten at least one every year since 2002, including 3 last year. But I think you have to take Bell over Hill.
Red flag here......why would Oakland have released him after signing him to a 6 year deal ? What gives ? There has to be a story there.
For all thats holy Simon I hope youre right (and I think you are). I do not want to see Renaldo Hll here any longer. Also congrats on those blogs..theyre OUTSTANDING cheers mate
once again i marvel at the Parcells regime. this time last year, i was very concerned that quality free agents would not consider Miami for many years, after the Saban and Cameron debacles. look how quickly and definitively things are turning around in that regard.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3936198 - Tim Graham says it was to clear cap room. I've heard Javon Walker might be on the way out too. Boy, what a failed FA class that would be. DeAngelo Hall cut midseason, Wilson out after one (I heard he asked to be cut at one point) and potentially Javon Walker?
Oh man, it's a no-brainer, Hill is not a starting safety of any kind, especially the way he tackles - or doesn't.
I hate to post this without a legitimate link (as it could very easily be internet hearsay), but this is the season of speculation.. so take it for what its worth. http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...d/95/218895-gibril-wilson-signs-dolphins.html
I think we keep Yeremiah Bell and get rid of Renaldo Hill and put Gibril Wilson at free safty and keep Yeremiah Bell at strong safty
Hill is gonna hit the FA market late today with everyone else not under contract. I doubt we see him back at this point. I was a bit concerned as to why the Raiders released him, but its always hard to tell with them. Cap space was reportedly the big reason, as many big cap eating names are getting released in Oakland right now. If he can play as well as he did with the NYG (and #s for the Raiders dont seem to shabby offhand either) we made a big big pickup. Miami has been making some big statements here already in the offseason that we intend to stay at the top and be competitors. Carey resigned, Crowder resigned, and now Wilson signed. Reportedly Brown will be pursued hard and Coles also likely to come. Very nice stuff we are seeing so far.
