Five intriguing free-agent prospects http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=3930611 How long will Pennington last in Miami? http://www.realfootball365.com/articles/dolphins/13660
I think the only one we have a chance at is Brown, and if that happens, I think it will be a Smiley signing (12:01 am on Friday). I'd love to have him here, but the price tag could be steep. With Long, Smiley, Carey and then Brown on the Oline, it could be the most expensive in the league. Nice thing is, it could also be the best.
I can see where they'd rate Crowder high on the list of ILB FA, that's because there's only Scott and he, save for an aging Ray-Ray. But we all know here that Crowder's just not all that. He's steady and adequate. But tackling machine ?? I don't know about that since too many of his tackles are made 3-4 yds downfield instead of at the LOS...too many times he doesn't come up with the big play and in the position he plays in this D, he should... I can't compare him to ZT, James Farrior, Ray-Ray or Bruschi ?? Or even a Bart Scott for that matter, although Scott still remains somewhat of a mystery because of the surrounding cast he's had... Canty is a hot commodity because of the general adjustment of teams back to the 34 D. I'm not sure Tank Johnson is the ideal NT for our D either but if the Trio goes after him, we'll know whether he fits the bill... It's pretty exciting tho, because we all just don't know what direction the Trio will really go in come Fri at midnight...
LOL! Let's just go ahead and pickup Surtain and Zach to relive the golden years of the D and add Tank and Brown to the mix too! Oh to dream... I would be rediculously crazy if that happened or any two combo's especially involving Zach (which I know is not a realistic possibility)!
