Not the kind that smells the roseys but the kind that stop opposing teams running backs cold.

They are not easy to find especially for a 3-4 defense

This is not a good year for them .Apart from Ron Brace in the draft or some free agent prospects there is not much to choose from.

I have heard that the Dolphins have been inquiring about NTs who are not projected to be drafted until the second day or those who remain undrafted so I believe we will acquire at least one....two if you review this regimes pattern.

We went through this process before .Tim Bowens was on his last legs and many of us were hoping to draft Wilfork the year Carey was picked .

After Timbo was done we had a huge hole at NT for several years .Hopefully we will not repeat the same error and wait for Ferguson to be done .Solai is still a project and we need depth at the position.

Who are some of the NTs you would like to see us draft or bring in.?

I like that Soliai is still on the team, I have to believe that a season from now we may be looking to him as our starting Nose. He has all the physical attributes, but he's probably on his last warning now over his discipline.

Olshansky could play nose in a 3-4, he did it periodically in San Diego and is very strong. But he hasn't done it full time so it's a bit of a gamble. If Gabe Watson out in Arizona got a low tender, I wouldn't hesitate to trade the pick to get him. He has proven capable of taking on double and according to Zona fans, their defense was much better vs the run with him in there.

In the draft, nothing really stands out behind Raji and Peria. I like that Knighton kid from Temple, he could be a diamond in the rough type worth trying to develop at that position.

For a 3-4 team, NT is like QB. You gotta bring a new one in almost every year.

Gabe Watson wouldn't be a bad experiment. Draft-wise, outside of Raji, and maybe Jerry, I'd look at Terrence Taylor from Michigan, Sammie Lee Hill of Stillman, and maybe Dorrell Scott of Clemson.

I'm also getting on board with the idea of signing Olshansky to make him a NT. This may be the best way to address the position.
I see you added him and removed the name of Chris Canty from your sig block. :wink2:

Miami was one of the teams inquiring about UMs Antonio Dixons medical status.

Another under the radar guy that Boomer mentioned is Pernell Phillips

Sammie Lee Hill, Louis Ellis, Mark Pryor will all be later picks or go undrafted that it would be nice to see have a shot in Training Camp.

Or Paul Soliai eats from the Fruit of the Motivation Tree...he did come on later in the year for us.

I think you mean Myron Pryor and I don't know about him manning the nose. He does well against single blocks but not sure about double.

As a Hurricane fan, I hope we stay away from the talent there. Its not impressive.
