I haven't played any of the other GOW games, and have a PS3 now. Can I pick this up and feel as if I'm not missing anything in regards to the storyline? Or will I be lost like I am in MGS4, which I don't play at all - not even past first mission. Looks GREAT btw.
I think you can enjoy it without playing the other games, but GOW I and II are both amazing and you should play them if you have a chance. GOW III is most likely not coming out until next year (March will be a safe bet) so you'll have plenty of time to play the first two.
Get the other GOW games now. They are a treat. Playing both games is one of the examples of how a game can just be pure fun.
It's my understanding that the PS3 isn't backwards compatible though, and I am not gonna buy a PS2 for GOW. Will I be lost in the storyline?
I will go change my underwear now. May I say this is exactly what the PS3 needs to sell units. I may have to buy one myself.
Whatever, it's about time PS3 owners got an exclusive they could get excited about. I just hope it comes out by the end of the year.
Exclusive are bogus, IMO. 360 shouldn't have exclusives and PS3 shouldnt either. I'm not going to buy a PS3 just to get this game, just as alot of people wont buy a 360 just to get other games.
Whether they should or not is irrelevant. 360 is still getting good exclusives. People buy consoles all the time for specific games. When a lot of people choose a console they have a certain game or games in mind. Some people will buy or have already bought a PS3 to play this God of War game. Exclusives are the reason the 360 has outsold the PS3 to this point. That's pretty obvious, I mean come on, it's not the quality of the hardware or the success of the original Xbox.
I had never played any of the MGS before MGS4 and I was not really lost in the story, got the gist of what was important pretty easy. If that is why you are not playing it you are missing one hell of a game. You loose some of the back ground of the story but I don't think you loose enough to keep you from playing a game. But that is just me, you might feel you need to know everything that has happened to feel into the game.
