Post press conference showed me personally alot. Alot will disagree with me, and thats fine but by Kobe completely shutting down all Shaq "return" questions to LA, like a bad joke at a funeral, shows me that its not about winning to him. He wants to be the man, he doesn't want anyone on the team that is a bigger "star" so to speak than he is. Plus it wouldn't work anyways I'm sure, Shaq is no longer the better player out of the two.

You answered your own question (even though you didn't ask one...). Shaq brings NOTHING to the Lakers at this point. If anything, I think it says more about Shaq's "fakeness," more than anything. He reminds me of Magic Johnson in that way. Allow me to explain:

Shaq, much like Magic, knows how to manipulate the media to their advantage and are supreme oppurtunists. Both know that it is in their own best interests to buddy up to people at the right time (Magic to Bird and Shaq to Kobe).

Think about it. Shaq's team is failing miserably. They just fired their coach after four months after running their old, succesful coach out of town. Amare looks to be traded and Shaq will be stuck with an old Steve Nash and spare parts. He wants no part of that. So what does he do? He starts pulling the strings of the media and angling for a return to L.A. A team, mind you, that has the best record in the NBA and is the favorite to win it all this year (yet you maintain that Kobe isn't about winning...?).

Shaq is doing what is best for him, like he always has, like Magic always has. Do you guys think that Bird and Magic are as good as friends as they appear to be in the media? Doubtful. It is a manufactured relationship between two people that respect each other, and probably even like each other, but not to the extent that we are led to believe.

I don't blame Kobe. Not after everything that Shaq has said about him. Heck less than a year ago, Shaq was asking Kobe how his *** tastes. Why? Because it was still cool to bash Kobe in Shaq's eyes. Kudos to Kobe for not playing his game. Besides, if you listen to ANY of Kobe's interviews since they split up, you will find that his position on Shaq hasn't changed at all. More than I can say about Shaq.

All of that aside, someone tell me what Shaq brings to the table for the Lakers? Considering that they would have to part with Odom and probably Bynum in order to make it work. Or Odom and their entire bench, it doesn nothing but make them weaker and the Suns stronger.

    No thank you.

I dont like the "Old" Shaq very much at all. He has destroyed the Suns with his salary and his lack of athleticism.

Shaq won't return to the Lakers this year. Only possibility, however remote, is that the Lakers win it all this year, Suns dump Shaq's salary, Shaq wants to retire a Laker, and play the Alonzo Mourning role on the Lakers the next year for a 5th ring.

****! SHAQ...Kobe and the Lakers don't need him.I said to myself all along that when Shaq,"grows up",he'll regret leaving the Lakers. You don't EVER leave a storied franchise like the Lakers(and if wanted to stay he could have). Now he's kissing *** to try to be remembered as the best 1-2 punch ever( him and Kobe).Funny,I remember Shaq saying something like D-WAde was the best "sidekick" he ever had.

Thats because the main write on this thread went AWOL. Ariza is going to get fined and suspended, IMO. It may not have been intentional, but he should know better to do that.

It's not AWOL. It's MCAT. Jeez, spell it right. Though the usual sidekick is actually AWOL.

He went for the block. You say just sit back and let the guy get a 3 point play or an easy deuce? He went for the block of the layup just like any other player who plays D would. In the NBA, college, high school, and pickup. Players do it all the time. I get people charging at me and leaping to make the block in transition just as I do the same. It's unfortunate that bodies happened to collide but you play the game.

the heat will be cremated by the hawks in the playoffs and if wade goes out, they get another lottery ball.

that would only happen if wade was not superhuman, but since he is, id say we have a good shot. he was just resting for the celtics game, we need him at 100% no matter what seed we wind up being.

but No Bynum.......I will be wrong with my pick. (Although i seem to be nailing ALL of my picks this year except the "Philly being a contender" pick).

I never thought for once Philly would be a contender even with Brand. Karma. Sucks doesn't it Elton.

    I'd rather have both.

(hey, more lopsided trades have happened )

Well I don't doubt the Heat need him but if Wade goes down, it's lottery time.

well...Regan...your window is 2 years...we are winning everything in site from 2010 on.

has Wade actually gone down and it became lottery time again (impossible..we are too far up)..then they might as well disban the league because Wade plus 2 lottery stars and another young star in the making PLUS a 2010 MAX player?

    toooooo sick.

and yeah...if Wade goes down...we are a lottery team..and if Kobe goes down you are the 8th seed AT BEST..and if Kobe and Bynum go down..you are the memphis grizzlies.

so yeah...your best player matters in the NBA. duh.

No, I know it's wishful thinking. But hey if you really want to see it happen and pull a Tonya Harding on Wade's leg to see what comes out of it, I won't object.

I am not talking about ADDING yet another lottery star..that would be overkill. I am just saying AS IS....RIGHT NOW. in 2010 it is over for everybody.

    seriously....

you think that a team with Wade...a really good PG in Chalmers and a star PF in Beasley PLUS a MAX player is NOT a championship contender?

the weed in LA must be insane then.

Dude...that team could boast FOUR all-stars.

you do know that Chalmers and Beasley are rookies...right? and that we also happen to be the team with the most cap space in 2010?

Depends on whether they get that max player. What happened to your Elton Brand to Miami again hopes? :shifty:

They'd be a good team. There. I said it. And that's all you're getting. Now stop trolling in here about the Heat and leave it in the Heat thread where it can be promptly ignored by fans of other teams. And I mean that in the nicest way.

so it depends on wether a team in MIAMI which is in florida, which has no state tax and a superstar in Wade...which..did I fail to mention has the most cap space in that year..."can" get a MAX player.....

    OKAY.

BTW, I wanted Elton Brand before we drafted Beasley. We used up that salary piece to setup our 2010 bonanza.

if you do not want us here....don't talk **** about our team. Just worry about getting Bynum healthy and pray that defensive juggernauts like the all mighty defensive genius that is Paul Pierce don't guard kobe in the finals.
