I mostly agree with Rang's take. I'd add English to the mix though. I also have questions about Rey Maualuga. There's a lot to love about his game but I worry that he hits the wrong gap too often. If I was drafting him it would come down to the interview and speaking with his coaches. If I were convinced that he had the drive and discipline to be great then I'd have no problem drafting him.

I like the Nicks, Mack and Unger options as well.

It's funny that whenever anyone, myself included, tries to list our team needs, we list practically every position except kicker and punter. :D Though, thank God we're not talking about a QB for once. :D I agree we need LB help, inside and out. I've been in the L. English corner with our 1st. I totally agree with his assessment of Laurenitus and how he would not fit in our D because of his lack of size and strength. That's always been a concern of mine regarding him, especially for our D.(Here come the Z. Thomas comparisons :D) It's a different D here now then when Zach played, though Zach is the freakin' man and one of my all-time favorite Phins and I'm sure he could acclimate to any D because..well...he's Zach :D. I don't see the same in Laurenitus. He seems to have a great character and attitude. Who knows? Zach was more of a strong, tough bull type of guy.(On a side note, remember the story of Zach getting his neck or something run over by a tractor when he was little?). That's a tough dude. :D

I would love to get WR K. Britt in the second if possible, though I think he'll go higher. I think getting him and a good LB could greatly improve us on both sides of the ball with just two picks, assuming they work out that is.

Another big question for us that remains is how are we going to fix the interior of the OL? Hopefully D.Thomas comes back strong and can perform well. Hopefully Satele can get his act together because I think he has the potential and hopefully we can hit on a guard or center in the later rounds.

How awesome is it that QB is not on that list of needs Dolfans!

Depending on who is there, I'd have little issue with Heyward-Bey.

Well, Heyward-Bey IMO is like Ginn. They're the same kind of player. If we go WR we need a big, physical guy to compliment Teddy.

Right now his value is all over the board but I think after the combine he may move up out of our reach.

I think we go Alex Mack unless we get a center in FA, with Clint Sintim being the 2nd possible pick.

I want Nicks but not sold on him.

I dont think we are in desperate need of a wr. I highly doubt we take a wr with the 25th pick. I think 2nd rd is what phins are thinking. I dout we take a center at 25 as well. Woild like to see us go RT, LB, or CB at 25

For sure. Its nice to have confidence in your front office.

They're not infallable (see Wilford and Parmalee*), but they sure hit more than they miss. I'm very excited to see what they do again with a first rounder and two seconds.

*Please don't hijack this thread into a defense of Parmalee. I have a lesser opinion of the guy than most.

I'd take Laurenitus at 25 but that's just me.

I think we need to use the draft to be improve our ability to run the ball out of standard formations and to get more pressure on the opposing quarterback. These seem to see our two biggest issues right now, but getting a big time receiver would also be big. I like the look of Nicks, but I'd be more than happy to trade for Boldin.

An upgrade at center, whether in the draft or FA, actually upgrades 2 positions, C & guard, thus more bang for the buck. We witnessed the effect our lack of depth and power in the middle of the OL had on the running game last year. To me addressing this is critical to our game plan. If either Unger or Mack will do that, then that's the logical move.

We may be surprized by who is chosen with the the 25th pick in the draft. Parcells and Co. will most assuredly pick the player who has the best chance of having an impact on the Dolphins and it may not be anyone on the fans radar. I sure feel a whole lot better about our approach to the draft than we have for a long, long time.
Its really great we again have all of our first day picks again this year.

I read this somewhere else and it was actually his dad who was the driver:

This, however, is not due to Zach's lack of effort. At 2½ he was playing near the back tire of a pickup truck. The driver didn't see him, backed over his head, felt the bump, panicked, put it in drive and ran over him again, which, come to think of it, may account for a lot of odd things about Zach.

Sign Jason Brown or hope Unger or Mack falls to us.

I hear ya', but I wouldn't take Unger. I not crazy about him. I don't think he fits the mold of the type of player our team seeks. He's a bit small and not as strong and stout. He got shoved around and pushed back a lot at the Senior Bowl practices. On the other hand, I do like Mack, though I don't think we should take a C that high. I think there are better routes we could take in this draft. I'm not sure on the status of J. Brown, but that sounds somewhat interesting. ;)

    Slightly left of center
I think our 1st round pick comes in the middle, either NT or ILB, maybe C if thats BPA at 25 but my money is on somone like Jerry Pariah (sp?)
