Just because Pennington doesnt have the arm doesn't mean Fitzgerald or Boldin wouldn't be an asset

I'd add fitzgerald. We need a big, bigtime WR and he's the best in the game IMO.

Their impact would be limited though, they would no longer be the deep threat that they are now. You need a QB with a big arm who can get those passes there quickly and downfield in order to take full advantage of Fitzgerald's and Boldin talents, that why Ginn isn't being used as a homerun threat. :wink2:

If I could choose one player to bring in, it would be a toss up between Tom Brady, Troy Polamalu or Patrick Willis in that order.

Peyton Manning anyone? If you could add any player why wouldn't you add the best QB of this generation?

I think this thread would have more relevance if we were only one player away. Sure, I'd love to have Manning but we'd need a Reggie Wayne, Larry Fitzgerald, to go with him! Or yeah, would love to have Ed Reed, he might be a singular addition that would make a huge difference.

Some mental errors for the Cards D last night but who wouldn't like to see us get Karlos Dansby? He looked good out there!

For me, one of the following:

Ed Reed, or Larry Fitzgerald, or Vince Wilfork, or Asomugha

There are so many positions of need that it's hard to pick just one that would have THAT big of an impact. I think the best fit would be a young hungry dominant player that the team can be built around... and who is to say we already didn't get that player in Jake Long? But, since we already have him, we need a player like that on defense. Mario Williams maybe?

I noticed the difficult schedule back when they released them a month or so ago. If Sparano can get another 11-5 this year, he damn well better get coach of the year!

If he's not available I'd love to have an Andre Johnson type reciever and we need an Ed Reed in the secondary.

    Which player to add?

I posted this on the ESPN blog you point us to. I think we need to add a true deep threat #1 WR to Ginn, Bess and Greg. While Chad certainly doesn't have the strongest arm in the NFL, by far, he can still go deep. We have seen it. Just not his strongest weapon, granted. However, I feel that one thing that hurt us last year was that Ginn was not yet ready to go up against a #1 CB or face a double team. That won't be the case if we can get that top flight WR in FA. Will actually HELP Ginn to develop. Why can't he become the next Holmes?

With another deep threat, Chad can hit those guys on the 30 yard range passes, not considered deep (40+ in the air I would think is deep), but with his accuracy they can take those mid range passes far. Just as we saw Arizona do yesterday to take the lead in the SB.

Additionally, we can't just pick players that will work with Pennington. I don't believe he is our long term solution unless he has just an unbelievable season next year. I am sure that Tony would like to get Henne starting no later then the 2010 season, after being the #2 guy for 2 years. He has the arm to go deep.

I'd die if Rivers was added to our team. He never hits his WRs in stride. Ever! It annoys Chargers fans to no end here in SD (truly knowledgeable fans not the garden variety that tune in only on Sunday).

He gets his stats, but I just find that annoying.

I'll take Rivers any day on this team. Funky delivery and not the strongest arm but enough for me. Guy plays his guts out and works hard. Sure he can be a pain in the rear with some of his comments but he can play. That said, Jay Cutler is my favorite QB in the league.

You put Chad Henne and Kurt Warner over Phillip Rivers? Chad Henne? He hasn't even played a full game yet. Warner is a bit of a fair argument over Phillip Rivers if you are talking about right now. The way I'm looking at this is the future. Kurt Warner is 37. Philip Rivers is 27 and coming off of the highest QB rating in the league. I'll take Rivers.

Demarcus Ware...despite the fact that the Cowboys were less than disappointing this year, Ware blew up the field this year! And being so young this kid is going to age like a fine wine. You can't go wrong with a linebacker of his calibur!!

After thinking about this, it's more of a who would I LIKE to see, because logically there's too many positions we need to fill to nab one guy who will make it all better. That's what the draft is for!
