I did watch it not as serious film. In fact I actually enjoyed the third Batman movie. In my opinion the Batman and Robin movie was just horrible cheese. Just everything about it makes me angry. I hate that movie. I hate that movie so much.
What big blockbuster movie doesn't get tons of hype? Especially ones that are based on nostalgia value. I guess I don't see the point of hating a summer blockbuster for being a summer blockbuster.
Replying to King Felix I finally found a third movie that is probably going to be in my top 3. 3. Godzilla - I hate this movie. I love to suspend belief as much as anyone, however it today's age how is a lizard that big supposed to hide in the ocean. Maybe the deep ocean, however just surprise New York like that. How do you lose something that big in the subway? How does something that big fit in the subway/sewer systems? Why did New York build a sewer system that is big enough to fit a skyscrapper sized lizard? They took everything that was cool about Godzilla and made him into a big lizard. This is something that really bothers me about hollywood. Yes I do like the idea of making movies "be in the real world", however I am willing to dispell belief enough to believe there is a huge monster as big as a skyscraper. It really isn't that big of a stretch that he can also breath fire. It is the same with Iron Man or any of those movies. Making them more real doesn't change the fact that Iron Man is impossible in this world and very silly. Also hollywood when you deal with iconic characters, unless it really fits in the story, they do not have to die in the end. You do not have to kill the Joker because killing the Joker is something to do or Godzilla or Typhoid Mary. Oh ****. I forgot about the movie I do hate the most. 1. Elektra. I hate that movie. It is a horrible movie. Horrible movie. God awful horrible movie.
LOL!! I know dude! These are the freakin' most bizarre answers. Ad Taxi Driver to that list of wtf. 90% of the movies in the last 10-15 yrs. have sucked, so there's millions of horrible ones to choose from...and those are the ones some people came up with?....scary. Maybe it's an age thing and some people need special effects and in your face sensationalism. I don't know, but this is truly bizarre! All of those are some of my favorite movies. LOL. With Shawshank, you either get it or you don't and some obviously didn't. Cool Hand Luke??? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry Dude!
Yeah, especially if we are talking about the original. You can't tell me it wasn't pitched to the studio, as "Cool Hand Luke with football!" Seriously, most movies are built off of a formula, some do it better than others. Take Die Hard and Passenger 57, for example. Same formula, slight twist (building vs. plane), yet Die Hard was light years better than P57. I view CHL & Shawshank, in the same light. What is sooooooooooooo terrible about that?
Awesome response! How is it some people blast my opinion by insinuating I'm elitist, and only like arthouse independent movies, yet you turn around and say i only like big budget FX flicks? What you guys are saying, is as silly as me saying, I think some people like movies based on other people's opinions or box office receipts. Tell you what here's SOME movies I love: The Godfather 1&2 Children of Men V for Vendetta Matrix 1 Snatch Little Miss Sunshine Goonies Big Night Iron Man Saving Private Ryan Rocky 1 Unbreakable Dead Poets Society Stand By Me The Prophecy The Wolfman (original) Inherit the Wind Indiana Jones 1-3 The Mummy 1-2 Stakeout Midnight Run Lethal Weapon 1-4 Die Hard (all of them) The Hustler Nobody's Fool Shakespeare in Love Any on that list you like too? Do I disgust you less now?
LOL!! Dude! No one is disgusted with you.(maybe a little) Ha! At least I never said that. We're just messin' around, having some fun with the Phin brotherin. We're talking about movies. It's not that serious of an issue. Also, I never said you were an elitist and I like some "arthouse independent movies", though I never saw anyone write that. If anything it was the opposite. As for that list, there are some I like: Godfather 1 & 2 -- enough said. 2 of the best ever. Big Night -- I'm Italian and I like to cook. That movie made me want to cook and eat...a lot. =) S. Tucci also was a customer of mine. Saving Private Ryan -- Rocky 1-- Dead Poets Society -- Stand By Me -- It was o.k. Did you know Stephen King wrote that as well as your favorite movie "Shawshank Redemption"? =) Indiana Jones 1 -- Midnight Run -- Hilarious movie! The Hustler -- Gleason was classic. Did you know Scorsese's "Color of Money" is a sequel to that? So there's a few. =D, but I gotta' tell you bro...That list even is pretty freakin' bizarre! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need a Prozac the size of a golf ball after reading that. =D Anyway......"Lighten up Francis"....can you name the movie? =D P.S. However, I do love your avatar! Really great pic!
As am I. No movie has ever made me want to eat like that one. Yup. Yup, and it was inferior. Which proves my point. Stripes? Thanks.
Grindhouse and Deathproof were two of the worst movies I've watched. Horrible acting and horrible stories in both of those, imo. Blair Witch 2 would be my third choice.
Wow ... I loved the Grindhouse movies (Planet Terror and Deathproof) because I throught they were a great tribute to the 70s exploitation genre for which Grindhouse is named. If you don't like that genre, then you sure wouldn't like Planet Terror or Deathproof.
Awww, come on. Saving Private Ryan: I didn't care about the story at all. It was the depiction of war that literally shook me. My late grandfather stormed the beach, if it was really like that, (i assume it was considering the approval of all the WWII vets who saw the movie) then I've gained some insight into the man, that I never quite understood when he was alive. Children Of Men: That movie was brilliant! How did you not like it? Just for the two continuous shots alone this movie should be on everyone's list.
Die Hard 4 Die Hard 3 Die Hard 2 I hate these movies because I absolutely loved the 1st one, I've seen it like 20 times and its still an amazing movie. I like Bruce Willis too. The sequels were pure crap, the 4th one was one of the dumbest movies I've ever had to sit through. The scene with the plane on the overpass was unbelievable laughable. I give them credit for milking a franchise successfully but damn the 2nd-4th are my most hated movies of all time. I know I'll take some flack here because for some reason people like these movies, and this is from a guy that will watch a cheesy action movie with bad acting.
of the 3 sequels #3 was the least terrible but man I just hate these movies. To me when you say what movies that you 'hate' doesn't mean they are the worst movies ever made, there are straight to dvd movies, etc that fit that bill, its movies that were hyped or people told you were great, ones everyone seems to love, made a ton of money, etc that you just HATE and I do hate those movies.
Awesome premise, and generally very very good, but the ending left me feeling dissatisfied. Definately worth watching though.
My all-time, hands-down "worst movie ever" would have to be "Artificial Intelligence." Absolutely HORRENDOUS film.
In addition, we saw "Juno" last night -- I don't understand what all the "buzz" was about this movie... just awful...
you do know that Grindhouse (Deathprrof and Planet Terror) were supposed to be filled with horrible stories and horrible acting don't you? That was the point of the whole thing.
Wow, did you just imply that Saving Private Ryan was a bad movie? Are you nuts? Who in their right mind could argue that? The first 30 minutes of the film alone is more realistic than any other war movie made.
The only problem with it is that after that it just collapses. Mainly because it is based on a very flawed premise (why are they rescuing this Ryan guy? why does this matter? how is this compelling?) The first 30 minutes are amazing... it just sort of dies after that. That same year gave us Thin red line, which is so much better.
The premise was actually based on a true story, saw an A&E special about it after it came out. There was a family where all the sons went to war, all but one one died, and to avoid a PR nightmare the military sent a team to extract that last surviving brother.
I tend to agree somewhat. Saving Private Ryan for me was just a little too "Hollywood". (And don't take offense, just because I don't like a movie sympathetic to the trials and tribulations of war vets does not mean I don't truly admire the real men and women who made those sacrifices). However, imo the Thin Red Line was worse. Well, Shawshank is the only one I can't understand. The other two, well yeah. They should be there. For me: There are a lot of bad movies, but my top 3 worst out of the big guns are: 3. 300 - I get the whole it's based on a graphic novel not history blah, blah, blah what I don't get it why it used such an amazingly heroic true story when it could have just as easily made it completely fictitious and had the same effect. I know the production of a film based on the actual events of the battle of Thermopylae was canned because of this movie - what a waste. 2. Rocky - Ok, I've said this one before and I know most of you guys don't agree. But I don't get this film. What's there to love about it? The only sympathy I could muster was for Rocky having to be with that girl. And even that was borderline, I kind of felt like he deserved her. 1. Titanic - I mean come on, is this movie serious? I could have made a better film with a budget of pop tarts. Honourable mentions: Deer Hunter - yeah, for me it kind of lost the plot somewhere between the beginning and the end. I can't remember where it was, all I remember thinking was "huh?" The Matrix Trilogy - a lot of hype over nothing really. Ghost - What? This movie would have been a lot better if it had been Demi Moore that had died... but only if she didn't come back as a ghost. American Pie - Pretty much all teen movies are bad, bad, bad but this one takes the cake, or should I say pie? One of the most laboured, unfunny and generally uninteresting movies I have seen. I could probably go on and on but I'll stop there
1.) Any and all of the Fast and the furious post the original including all knock offs that came after it. 2.) All those friggin dance competition movies if any of you guys watched "step off" then I feel for you. 3.) 95% of all Sci-Fi sucks IMO so insert here....then watch a guy do a 5 minute elevated kick in the air.
Rocky is great because here is this loser, except he's not a bad guy. He got into fights as a kid and never did well in school but he has a great heart. His life is going absolutely nowhere. Then you have Apollo Creed, who is the heavyweight boxing champion. He's cocky and overconfident, he wants to put on a real show and so he chooses to fight a guy he thinks can never beat him. Rocky has a heart of gold and works his *** off, and fights Apollo to the finish, proving that you can do anything if you try. And that's why Rocky doesnt belong on the lists
