Pure speculation, do we sign Terry Glenn?

A pretty reasonable way to look at it..
I suppose ultimately what happens and how it shakes out depends entirely on how the FO views who we have right now. If they're looking at Camarillo, Bess, Ginn, and possibly London as well, as players who will develop then it makes sense to go that route.
Assuming that their philosophy hasn't changed then we're a (developing) power running team. If that's the case we don't need a flashy, high profile, high maintenance and salary cap hogging WR. Just dependable, sure handed pass catchers who can help move those chains. If what we've already seen is an accurate indication, the players we have are showing signs of becoming just that.
Glenn could very well be an asset.
    If healthy.
As I already stated. I'm fine with the guy as long as he can contribute. It's not as if signing him would mean cutting any of the above mentioned WRs.
No, it would only mean a Chris Hannon or a Tab Perry wouldn't have a spot on the roster. Not exactly a heart breaker, there.

Exactly, it is a tough thing to suggest when so many people truly believe that a Wr corps with a 3rd year up an coming Wr, a 2nd year Wr and a rookie will somehow be the Wr crew to go with...we need Boldin, TJ and TO by golly!

We'll see, our FO likes second class FA types, they went all out for C Pace and he is not exactly Hugh Green Jr...so if we pick up a FA wr, it will be a low cost guy who can move the chains and provide some Vet leadership.

She may be worth it, if the price is right. :)

i think you mis-understood me a little.... i want a superbowl (not meaning next year or in two... but i want to work for one hopefully within a few)... meaning i WANT A SUPERBOWL in due time... having Glenn for a year or two wont happen, cause most likely he wont be around no more when we have the squad for that superbowl.

basically, he just gonna fill in for now... taking time from these other guys getting more experience and working on field.

Rookies, and young players gotta learn and develop sometime somehow!!!

Terry Glenn is done and even if not hell no, we need to stay with the guys we have and if there is a new guy coming in, he should be a youngster to groom

No. I dont think he'd do anything except hinder the development of someone we are sure to get who is younger and better.

The more I think about this, the less I would want a 35 yr old WR...the upside is just not there. It would be the same as trading for 'the player'... Perhaps productive to a certain extent, but the physical wall will be hit sooner rather than later with these guys...and Glenn was out of football altogether last year. It's not like bringing in a 31-32 yr old WR who may have a couple of seasons before he breaks down physically. WR, like RB and DB, it seems to hit them suddenly...and poof !....they have nothing left...What we don't know is whether or not Glenn is in that category and you likely won't find that out during TC....and then it might be too late to change courses...

I just can't see the upside of just about any 35 yr old player being brought in...

Well would you be okay with him being here now if he had been signed last year?
How about if he was 34?
My point here is Jason Ferguson is the same age as Glenn. Not only did we bring Ferguson in at 34 - we actually made a trade for him.

    *****Bane -
People were also split on signing Pennington; whether or not we should keep John Beck, etc. So it is with any potential signing, trade, etc. And so it is with the idea of Glenn coming here.
If......and its a big if, we were to sign Glenn, he would have passed a physical and he would have to beat out players like Chris Hannon or Tab Perry. These are guys who are a failed tryout from UPS employment. Losing a player like that and gaining a guy like Glenn......how is that a bad thing?

Glenn's arrival would not effect Bess nor Ginn, and a youngster is the problem.

Young Wr do not typically contribute to a team, we need a ready to go Vet Wr who doesn't cost too much because Greg C will be playing again this year.

QB is different, you'd rather have a great vet like Pennington in front helping the kids out... WR's take a few years to start cominga round, Ginn is there, Bess and London are working their ways.

we are probably not superbowl contenders for a couple years still... so why bring in an aged vet like Glenn, spenind money for him, when he isnt gonna be around when we may be pushing for that superbowl... let the kids play.

i dont want tab perry anyways either... lol

There, I think, is the problem with your argument. If you win 11 games and your division, then I don't think "probably not superbowl contenders for a couple years still" is truly valid enough. It might take a couple of years, or it might not. I don't see any great football teams out there. In fact, you have a 9-7 team in the Super Bowl right now.

The bottom line is, you have young, developing receivers in Ginn, Bess, London, etc. If Glenn gets himself healthy and shows the coaching staff that he still has the skill to help this team, can mentor and add some veteran smarts to the receiving corp, then it's worth a look. Even if he is only here a year or two, having a veteran mentor should only help the young guys already there.

Well, if the Dolphins work him out and actually have an interest in signing him that would probably answer your question, since Glenn has played for Bill Parcells twice.

The only way i don't see them bringing in an old vet is if they land Whohisname or trade for one of the diva's like C.J. Plaxico or Boldin.
