As a WVU alum I'd love to see schmitty come down to miami and bust some face masks. We need a fullback anyway why not get that animal of a man. Any thoughts? If you're hatin I bet you didnt watch the Fiesta Bowl!
Agreed, sorry bro. I am in love with Schmitty too, but, of all the things we need a FB isnt one of them.
First of all I don't believe fatty magee from Hawaii is any good....maybe as an offensive lineman. And second of all Schmitty will be a playmaker and IMO is a prototype back that could revolutionize the position.
Ok, I will play along. What exactly is it about Schmitt that makes him a prototype back that can revolutionize the position?
Actually, he would be great...he had a great bowl game. He certainly runs better than Mauia. Unfortunately, he would be a luxury, so I don't see us getting him. But here's a great story on him. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/09/11/AR2007091102204.html "...He can squat 650 pounds and clean more than 500, which means he can bend to the ground, pick up a quarter-ton weight and then lift it to his head. He bulldozes down the field headfirst when blocking, and he already has cracked and mangled eight face masks during his college career. One such twisted bar of steel sits in the office of West Virginia Coach Rich Rodriguez, who once said, "I didn't know you could bend those things before."..."He separated a rib from his vertebrae late in the year, and he couldn't so much as sit down two days before West Virginia's bowl game. He played anyway, running for 109 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Georgia Tech..."
I didn't say I wasn't sold on him, I am just saying it isn't worth it for us to draft him, and that he isn't "revolutionary."
FB is not a need for us, wether he's better then reagen or not. Reagan gets the job done so he stays, for now.
Probably a great special teamer..., and back up FB... I wouldn't use anything more than a 7th rd on him though
Ok maybe we dont NEED him but he'd be great to have.........and 7th rounder is total BS if he slips to the 7th round you gotta be the only person in the world that would pass him up
Unfortunately, you're probably right. Although, I will say that during the middle to late rounds, if he's still there, we might end up picking him as the best player still available...those late rounds are pretty much a toss up anyway, and he sounds like an old school type player...tough as nails.
I don't even think fullback is on my radar atm. We need 2 guards, a tackle,a TE, a wr, 2 DTs, a big DE, an ilb, an olb, and a cb before we take a FB. Who are the fullbacks going to be in 2015?
Myself, I'm not totally convinced Mauia has all that high of a ceiling. I could be wrong but he didn't seem to improve much to me as the season went along.
I'm sure you'll find that I'm one of the very few Dolphin Fans that agree with you , and just isn't all that impressed with him. I'd take Owen Scmitt any day over Mauia. The question is value and where you'd have to take him in the draft. Regarding last year's 6th pick being used on Mauia: That's a sunk cost, and I do not get caught up in that. I only care about the current cost, and opportunity cost involved.
I think we have a pretty good FB now he may not be as big or strong as this guy but Mauia is a pretty good FB
Schmidt reminds me of Dustin Picciotti from CB West in The Last Game. Just a monster to deal with. He'd be a great addition and could lead block for Edge if we can land him, which would allow us to take some heat off RB until he's actually healthy.
